Witchcraft: 6 Easy Spells to Enhance Daily Life

Born in deepest Cornwall and now living in wild Wales, Bev has been practising her personal brand of witchcraft for years and years.

After all these years of following a witchy path, one of the things I have learned is that simple is good. Maybe it’s because I am a lazy witch, but easy spells are preferable to long, drawn-out, and complicated rituals.

Does that mean that short, easy spells are less effective than carefully constructed magickal formulas? Not at all. Because the one thing that makes spells work is the energy that you raise to send them ‘out there’.

The trick is to be able to raise that energy to the necessary level whenever you need to. And the way you do that is by tapping into emotions.

To learn more about all that, read How to Begin Witchcraft: Casting Spells. There are instructions how to cast a circle (mostly I don’t bother) and suggestions about how to use spells.

Six Simple Spells to Enhance Daily Life

Here are six short and easy magickal rituals to help bring the perfect day, the best outcome, to keep you surrounded by love and protection, to help you feel healthy, to find that thing you just lost, and to boost your confidence by feeling beautiful and charismatic. And don’t forget to clean your teeth.

1. The Perfectly Fun and Delightful Day Spell

For this spell, all you need is a small, much loved object. Could be a special piece of jewelry, a small teddy bear, a pretty ornament. Doesn’t matter what it is, as long as it is special for you.

Before you go to bed, place it near you, perhaps on your nightstand.

When you wake up in the morning, clasp the item, feel the energy flowing through it and through you. Feel happiness building inside you.

Whisper these words:

"As within me, and so without
Let this day begin, no doubt
That fun and delight will be all about.

And as I say it, so must it be, and let it harm none."

Now put the object on your windowsill until the evening. Repeat daily.

2. The Bubble of Love and Protection Spell

You can turn this one into a full ritual, or you can just speak the words. For example, this is a good spell to start your witchy life. Asking for love and protection is never a bad thing.

So if you want to go the whole way and cast a circle, then do that. However, as implied, the spell itself creates a bubble of protection, so it isn’t really necessary.

This spell relies on visualization and the certain knowledge that it is working.

If you wish to cast a circle, do it right at the beginning. Sit down quietly and start to imagine a pinpoint of light above your home. Visualize the point of light expanding so that a curtain of light slowly falls over the building you’re in, encircling it like a half-sphere. If you have vehicles outside, include those too. Then keep going. The light goes into the solid ground all around until it forms a perfect bubble. It shimmers and wavers, but you know it is absolutely impenetrable by negative energy of any kind.

Once you have the picture formed in your mind, say,

“Universe, full of love and light,
Protect my/our home with all your might.
Family within and family away,
Bring us safely together at the end of the day.

For those of us who can’t be here,
Extend your blessings, hold them dear.
We give our thanks for love so deep,
And as I say it, so must it be.”

Feel the feelings of perfect family love and protection. Let them radiate from you and merge with the shimmering sphere. Then visualize the bubble gradually disappear but know that the protection remains.

3. The Best Outcome for Any Situation

Sometimes, we cannot know what the best outcome of any situation might be. For example, when a pet is old and ill, maybe the best thing for it is to pass on quickly. That by trying to keep the pet alive, is not really a good thing. So, when in doubt as to when to act or when to let go, simply ask the Universe to deliver the best outcome. Speak these words,

“I trust in Universal Law to find the right balance in this situation. And I trust that whatever happens is in everyone’s best interest. I trust that the Universe will deliver the best outcome. As I speak it, so must it be.”

There’s no need to add “And it harm none,” because it is already inherent in the spell.

And remember, you can change the words up however you prefer. My suggestions are never prescriptive. The feeling behind the words is much more important than the words themselves. There’s more than one way to achieve results. If it helps to light a candle or focus on a crystal, then do it.

Adapt and Adopt Spells

The most powerful magick is when you devise it yourself. Performing someone else’s spell is exactly that, a performance. Whereas if you put thought, effort and creativity into designing your spell, it’s yours and only yours. So I encourage you to use these ideas as mere frameworks, upon which you’ll hang your own unique touches.

You can write them into your Book of Shadows and each time you use them, you can change them a little bit.

4. To Feel as Healthy as Can Be

Whenever you are feeling a bit under the weather, or a little achy, say these words.

“Strength of mind and strength of bone,
I claim these things to be my own.”

Repeat three times as often as you need to throughout the day.

Don’t forget to add, “As I speak, so must it be.”

5. Find That Lost Thing Spell

This is a very simple spell that relies on the Switchwords, 'Together Reach' to achieve the desired result. You might have lost an object or you might be trying to find the right word or forgotten name. This little chant will free up the stuck energy to help you remember.

“Thing that I’ve lost come to me
Together reach and I’ll find thee.”

As you speak, imagine the relief when you find/remember it.

6. The Beautiful and Charismatic Me Spell

Of course, you know you are beautiful, don’t you? You can feel your inner beauty radiating outward, lighting up your face, making your skin glow, and creating that irrepressible twinkle in your eyes.

Just to make sure, say these words to yourself when checking the mirror,

“I am so beautiful, this I know,
And I will shine wherever I go.
I praise myself because I am lovely,
I love myself because I am worthy.
As I speak, so must it be”

These words also incorporate the magickal and effective Switchword, ‘Praise’. Don’t worry about being embarrassed at being the focus of this spell. The aim is for you to be confident. Once you’ve said the words, you can forget them for the rest of the day. The spell is working.

Using Spells in Daily Life

What’s so good about using spells and magick in everyday life? Well, because you can. Once you have mastered the trick of tapping into your emotions and desire at will to raise the energy, then you might as well make the most of it and live an enhanced, enchanted, always surprising, lovely witchy life.

Now that doesn’t mean that you won’t have to deal with bad stuff occasionally. We all have to. No-one can sail through unscathed or untouched by negativity. And I promise you, you wouldn’t want to. The contrast of the not-so-nice times helps you appreciate the great times. Without dark, you wouldn’t be grateful for the light.

That Old Universal Energy

I just have to mention once more, that any spell will not be effective unless you put the effort of energetic emotion into it. So before you start, make sure you know what emotion is necessary. Think about what you want to achieve and feel it into reality. Hold that feeling and work your magick.

        Hi darl,

I am the same, yes I'm lazy but I don't look at it that way, I strongly believe that the power is in me and as I'm drawn to certain things I don't feel the need to set up a big ritual, what I send out as a spell is from me, my heart and soul, if something is required to help me with the spell it'll be there or it will keep showing itself to me in my mind, I'm glad I saw your post, not that I necessarily believe in mistakes and coincidences, as all paths lead for purpose!

        Cheers Liz
