As we reach the celebration of Beltane, spring has peaked and we are heading into summer. The Earth is warming up and has an energy bursting with strength and fertility. The word Beltane is thought to originate from the Celtic god, Bal, meaning 'the bright one' and the Gaelic word 'teine,' which means fire. Together they create 'bright fire' or 'godly fire'. Traditionally, bonfires were lit at Beltane to honour both the Sun and Bel because they nurture emerging harvests and the beginnings of new life. At this point in the wheel of the year, the focus is on fertility, the creation of new life and on ensuring healthy livestock and strong crops throughout the coming year. Crop fertility is a strong theme at this Sabbat, and rituals to promote fertility and sexuality, life and unity are common. Beltane is also a popular time for handfastings, vows and commitments.

Many crystals can be used to encourage and support these aims as they can be incorporated into rituals and spell work or placed on your altar. Crystals can also be placed on the ground or buried in the Earth when working with their energies. Some examples of incorporating crystals into your Beltane celebrations and practices include:

  • Placing a crystal in the pots of houseplants to encourage strong and healthy growth.
  • Adding crystals to fertility spells and rituals for yourself or crops.
  • Using crystals during meditation.
  • Placing crystals on a Beltane altar.
  • Creating crystal grids to match the energy of Beltane.
  • Adding crystals to flower wreaths and headdresses.
  • Placing crystals with newly planted seeds and seedlings.

Well, it all started when I was having some serious issues in life... then I had an offer of a shamanic healing which I accepted. I was skeptical at first but it turned out to be a profound experience. Shortly afterwards someone sent me a piece of orgonite and with it in my possession I received another unexpected healing which cured me of all illness and thats when I started to take crystals more seriously. I've done a lot of scientific research and experimentation since and I now understand why it is and what it is that makes crystals and other things like orgonite, pyramid structures and therapies like Reiki so powerful - and the science behind it is sound, so yes there is undoubtedly something very powerful there. Its been quite a journey and a learning experience but one which I am enjoying and has already proven to have had benefits. I'll be sure to check out some of your other hubs.
