Inspirational Pagan Quotes

Throughout my years of reading and study, there have been certain quotes that have truly stuck with me and weave a web of inspiration and hope inside of my mind and soul. In this hub, I am simply going to share my list of the most inspirational Pagan quotes and sayings, accompanied by some of my favorite Pagan music and beautiful Pagan pictures.

Keep in mind that not all of the originators of these quotes are solely Pagan in religious nature; however, I have found these quotes to have purely Pagan undertones and purpose, and so I have included them in my list of inspirational Pagan quotes. For your reference, I will note next to each quote the originator's name and association with the Pagan community (if any).

Blessings to you all. May the Goddess and God smile upon you always.

"Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake." - Henry David Thoreau

"Good energy was never meant to be waisted on idiocy." - Silver RavenWolf (author of To Ride a Silver Broomstick and also a well-known PowWow Magician)

"Believe in the fairies that make dreams come true, believe in the wonder of the stars and the moon. Believe in the magic from the fairies above, they dance on the flowers and sing the songs of love. And if you just believe and always stay true, the fairies will be there to watch over you!" - Unknown

"Time Flies. Suns rise and shadows fall. Let time go by. Love is forever over all." - Chinese Fortune Cookie

"I will move in harmony with the seasons." - Unknown

"the voice of the Great Spirit is heard in the twittering of birds, the rippling of mighty waters, and the sweet breathing of flowers. If this is Paganism, then at present, at least, I am a Pagan." - Zitkala-Sa (Dakota Sioux Native)

"Time is artificial." - Sybil Leek (when alive she was England's Most Famous Witch, author of Life of a Witch)

"There is no death. Only a change in worlds." - Seattle Suquamish Chief

"Angels transcend every religion, every philosophy, every creed. In fact, angels have no religion as we know it...their existence precedes every religious system that has ever existed on earth." - St. Thomas Aquinas

"He who desires the soul, who plays with the soul, who makes love with the soul, who attains ecstasy in the soul, becomes his own master and wanders at will through the worlds." - Chandogya Upanishad

"The sound is fading away. It is of the five sounds...Freedom. The sound is fading away..." - Chippewa Song

"The Great Spirit is in all things, he is in the air we breathe. The Great Spirit is our Father, but the earth is our mother. She nourishes us; that which we put into the ground she returns to us..." - Big Thunder (Bedagi) (Wabanaki Algonquin Tribe)

"I shall not be killed. I shall not be harried, I shall not be put in cell, I shall not be wounded, Neither shall Christ leave me in forgetfulness. No fire, no sun, no moon shall burn me, no water, no loch, no sea shall drown me. No arrow of fairy or dart of fay shall wound me, And I under the protection of Holy Mary, And my gentle foster mother, my beloved Bride." - from the Carmina Gadelica (a collection of Scottish songs, prayers, and verses in which Christian & Pagan elements mingle)

As such they are symbols and keepers of unlimited power, longevity, and timelessness. An untouched forest, studded with trees of all ages, sizes and types, is more than a mysterious, magical place - it is one of the energy reservoirs of nature. Within its boundaries stand ancient and new sentinels, guardians of the universal force which has manifested on the the Earth." - Scott Cunningham (revered author of many Pagan books)

I like the article very much KTD, but my dear....maybe I am nitpicking. But there is at least one quote, inspirational or not in some views that probably should be here, if you are going to represent the historical quotes of paganism ( and therefore magic ).

"Do as thou wilt, shall be the whole of the Law..." Aleister Crowley.

If not AC then perhaps at least the Wicca Rede, don't cha think ( at least if Therou and Chief Seattle are gonna be in there. ) - or maybe a quote from Starhawk or even Gerald Gardner, or....I don't know. I love your work as always my honeybee KTD. But maybe this one should be expanded a bit, or possibly narrowed in focus. I'm sorry, don't hate me cause i'm critical.

"Ouch that burns a**hole"

- anonymous witch ( while being burnt at the stake in France 1313 )

Keep on Hubbing. Blake4d

I agree!

spandrel 3 years ago

If you say 'God is in all things' then Christians would agree but if you say 'The Great Spirit is in all things' it's the work of Satan. Funny thing belief isn't it?

It's truly sad that you have to resort to fear tactics in order to share your beliefs.

Wesman - Very very true. I've never believed in time...and I agree with you, there could possibly be no death at all but just another realm of existence. :) Thanks for the support! :)

Well this was very interesting, and as to time being an illusion.....that's in perfect agreement with Einstein's Physics which states that there is no past, present, or future...because, well, time is an illusion.

So if one believes in that....which is both of the mind of the greatest of physicist, and your quoted Witch, then it's only logical to also believe that there is no true death, or that death is not the end of existence.

Bravo, kitty.

Thank you so much for putting together such a fine collection of art in the tri-fold form. Word, picture, music. You've provided a doorway, through which the presence of Gaia soars.

My spirit can not help but to rejoices in dance beneath the waning of this first full moon of 2012. Moved by the pulse of the earth and the rhythm of the heavenly bodies, I bow to you, my spiritual sister.

Christianity is not supposed to be about hate and rejection. It is most certainly not about fear. The Bible teaches us that we are not to fear anything but to trust God to handle things that we may be tempted to fear...that we are only to fear God...and not in a sense of being afraid...but to be in awe of Him and how magnificent He revere Him...much like you do with your goddess. It is fear that causes us to make horrible mistakes which bring about the rejection of the very ones our God teaches us to love...It is fear that breeds hate...which is why God commands His people not to fear...but to pray. I just wanted to clear that up. I do not intend to offend or attack your belief system...only to correct a common misunderstanding that has been brought on through the deception of God's children. Blessings to you.

Mr. Maranatha - Thanks. I take that as a huge compliment.

cherylone - That's such a lovely picture, isn't it? I wouldn't mind having it hang on my wall, as well. Blessings, sweetie.

hecate-horus - Glad you liked it so much! That's one of my personal favorites, too. And I agree, I'd rather stay in the forest forever. ;)

Paradise - You're so sweet. Thanks for reading. I think we all have certain proverbs that we live by and that stick with us...and these are definitely some of mine.

Thank you so much for sharing all these with us. This was a wonderful read; I loved the pics, too.

I can really see why some of these proverbs stayed with you, and will for years.

A very inspirational hub. I especially like the quote:"If you are to absorb with the trees, you may never find your way out of the forest." Personally, I NEVER want to find my way out of the forest. Blessed Be!

These are beautiful words and pictures. In fact one of them is a picture I have hanging on my wall so I can see it every morning when I go down for coffee. It is the one where mother earth is holding an urn with mountains and water and she is pouring it into a scene of mountains and water. Beautiful. :)
