The simple definition of a UFO is “unidentified flying object.” It doesn’t necessarily mean that it is an alien craft, or even something that is unfathomable to humanity at large. Sometimes, what is unidentified is in the eye of the beholder.
And that’s why I love the UFO enthusiasts of Reddit’s r/UFOs sub, who so want to believe that they are quick to strike down and debunk the vast majority of “incidents” that are uploaded to the forum, and answer questions for folks who have no idea what it is they saw in the sky.
People such as this woman.

In this video, taken outside Thornville, Ohio, a series of lights seem to “teleport” across the sky, zapping in and out of existence and reappearing again somewhere else. She has no idea what they are.
Fortunately, the good UFO enthusiasts of the forum are there to help her out. Turns out, the Lost Lands Festival is gearing up in that location, complete with music and light shows. A rehearsal for the latter is probably what she was witnessing in the sky. “If you’re into dubstep and dinosaurs check it out,” advises one commenter, who likes dinosaurs as much as aliens. And who wouldn’t?
When debunking UFO encounters, it’s important to remember that most people who upload these things are not trying to defraud anyone. It’s not a “fake” so much as it’s something they honestly can’t identify, w which is why they are searching for advice in the first place.
