People Think This Unmarked ‘Disappearing’ Plane Is Actually Headed for Area 51

Where is it going?

The so-called Area 51, a top-secret United States Air Force facility in Nevada, has long been the subject of otherworldly fascination. Many believe the zone is the crash site of an alien spacecraft, and some think that the government has secured the area in order to do further testing on the recovered craft and maybe even the aliens themselves.

There are many different theories about exactly what goes on at the government facility there, and strange sights in the surrounding vicinity have been enough for the entire state of Nevada to dub the route that runs alongside the zone as the “Extraterrestrial Highway.”

Except the government workers and contractors who are employed in Area 51 do not travel there on the highway. No, they get to work another way.

It’s not exactly accurate to say that this plane is completely unmarked, as the man in the video does. In fact, in the video you can see that this white plane with a red “cheatline” has the clear tail number of N288DB, which is registered to the U.S. Military.

Locals know this plane well. It is, as the video says, the shuttle plane carrying passengers and workers to and from Area 51 and other locations in the Nevada National Security Site. They have given it the amusing and unofficial name of “JANET Airlines”. JANET is said to stand for “Just Another Non-Existent Terminal”in reference to the fact that the government employees board and depart this plane from an otherwise closed wing of the Las Vegas Airport. It’s flight path “disappears” off publicly available air scanners because all flights within the top-secret site do.

So yes, it’s a mystery, but it's one we know about, unlike some of the other mysteries surrounding Area 51.
