Woman Spends Night In Lizzie Borden's House and It’s Beyond Creepy

We’ll take our chances at a Holiday Inn, thanks...

The house where the father and stepmother of Lizzie Borden were found murdered with an ax in 1892 now operates as a macabre bed and breakfast. In this video, TikToker Amanda of @spookynewengland spends the night and gives a tour.

“Hi, I’m Amanda and I sleep with ghosts,” she chirps cheerfully, panning the camera around the room which is decorated with period specific photos and furnishings. Amanda claims that this building is one of the most haunted homes in America. It’s certainly one of the creepiest! The room she rented is the one where Lizzie’s stepmother was found dead. “The first time I slept here,” she claims, “I felt a mothering presence.”

Lizzie Borden’s relationship own with her stepmother was said to be far more strained, as she felt the woman had only married her father for his wealth and resented that he gave real estate to his new wife’s family.

Though Borden was arrested for the murders, she was eventually acquitted, and the case remains unsolved despite its infamy. The popular nursery rhyme goes, “Lizzie Borden took an ax and gave her mother forty whacks. And when she saw what she had done, she gave her father forty one.” In reality, however, her stepmother Abby Gordon died from eighteen or nineteen blows and her father from what coroners estimated to be eleven.

The video includes shots of orbs that the woman filmed while staying in the overnight, but perhaps the freakiest part of the video is the shot of the full-length, headless mannequin in dark Victorian garb that lurks in the corner of the room. No wonder staying there gave her disturbing dreams!
