How to Manifest Desires Through the Use of Thought Waves

I've practiced Neville Goddard's technique with success and have even developed my own prayer technique to complement it.

Alexander Graham Bell figured out how to manifest desires.

Alexander Graham Bell figured out how to manifest desires.

Do Thoughts Really Travel in Waves?

While the majority of the world is busy attempting to explore the infinite space out there in the starry void, they are missing something which is equally mysterious and far more important, in my view: the human "mind". Don't get me wrong, I don't claim to be an expert on the matter; I can only speculate or speak from my own experience.

Can We Really Manifest Desires Through Thought Waves?

In my own experience it is possible to manifest desires through thought waves. and This is why I am so obsessed with this phenomenon, no matter how maligned it is.

However, I will attempt to use other sources to back up my claim that thoughts travel in waves just as wireless waves do. These waves travel as vibrations that attract like thoughts and ideas from the minds of others and assist in the manifesting of desires.

Alexander Graham Bell's Take on the Matter

Let me introduce my first source, Alexander Graham Bell, the inventor of the telephone (or not, according to some sources!). He was extremely knowledgeable when it came to vibrations—so much so that he figured out how to manifest desires, at least in theory!

Now before I go on, let me give you some figures. The human range of hearing extends from 20–20,000 vibrations (hertz) per second. From there all the way up to one and a half million vibrations per second, none of our 5 senses can detect vibration. However, once the vibrations reach one and a half million VBS, we are able to detect heat with our sense of touch; finally, at 3 million vibrations per second, it's possible for the naked eye to perceive heat as a violet light. Above 3 million, ultra violet rays are given off which are completely invisible to us, hence the many bad cases of sunburn!

Ether or Zero Point Energy

Now we know that radio waves travel through space and, through the use of the right tools, become sounds or pictures; however, how do they travel? How is it possible for them to travel as they do? It is because there is an ether or zero point energy that permeates and penetrates everything around us. It is possible, through this ether, for vibrations to travel huge distances.

How Does This Play a Part in Manifesting Desires?

Here's what Alexander Graham Bell had to say on the matter:

Can it be said that when you think of that great gap, that there are not many forms of vibrations that may give us results as wonderful as, or even more wonderful than, the wireless waves? It seems to me that in this gap lie the vibrations which we have assumed to be given off by our brain and nerve cells when we think. But then, again, they may be higher up in the scale beyond the vibrations that produce the ultra violet rays.

Could we be manifesting desires by the attractive power of our concentrated thought upon them? Are they being drawn towards us on these ever-moving, undulating waves of ether?

If so, then are activities like meditation, visualization, setting goals and thinking of our dreams effective ways to manifest desires?

It is possible to manifest desires through concentration, focus and desire.

It is possible to manifest desires through concentration, focus and desire.

Do random number generators provide evidence that it is possible to manifest desires through thought?

Do random number generators provide evidence that it is possible to manifest desires through thought?

Random Event Generator and Human Consciousness

Now, even more proof that thoughts have an effect on reality are the random event generators which for the last 12 years have been in operation all over the world. The quantum event based random number generators Scientists have been utilizing generally show a random, unpredictable series of zeroes and ones.

However, whenever a huge event takes place like the Indian Ocean Tsunami in 2004, it seems as if the whole world begins to collectively think or at least align in consciousness level as the RNGs as they are known, register similar frequencies of numbers. The likelihood of that being by chance is less than a billion to one. Of course there are thousands of critics out there who will vehemently deny it and call it bunkum and probably be able to find some forms of evidence to discount the whole idea, but I still stand by my belief that this is yet more proof that manifesting desires through power of thought could be possible.

Enough Cause for Exploration

Isn't that enough to at least provoke a little more exploration in the area of the human mind? There really is more to our mind than we know, the proof is staring us in the face yet we fail to even open our eyes, let alone see it. If the combined power of human consciousness has a detectable effect on RNGs then this is more proof that manifesting desires can happen through concentrated thought.

Manifesting Desires and Thought Power According to Religions

There is not yet enough concrete evidence that thoughts are capable of manifesting desires or even being capable of travel in waves through space and time. But the messages within many religious pieces of literature still give plenty of food for thought. Even Buddhism constantly stresses the importance of right thinking due to the fact that thoughts create reality as you can see by these 2 quotes:

"All that we are is the result of what we have thought. If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him. If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him ." —Buddha

"The mind is everything. What you think you become ." Buddha

The Leading New Thought Teachers Believed It Was Possible to Manifest Desires Through Thought and Action

There were also a number of New thought Teachers that believed the books of the Bible were not based on actual events, but were in fact a series of lessons created to instruct mankind on the proper use of his mind. One of these Teachers was Neville Goddard and according to him, he often demonstrated the the power of manifesting desires through the practice of visualization, which is essentially sending out a series of thought images into the ether.

And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, i pray thee that i may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my very son Esau or not. And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father and he felt him;...And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau, his brother came in from his hunting .

About the above excerpt from the Bible, Neville Goddard said: "This story can be very helpful if you will re-enact it now. Again bear in mind that all the characters of the Bible are personifications of abstract ideas and must be fulfilled in the individual man. You are the blind father and both sons."

The Attraction Process

It is my belief that we both send and receive thoughts. We do of course develop and create through the use of our logical, reasoning brain, but then what about those times when a thought pops into your head from nowhere? You are just sitting there minding your own business when BAM! You suddenly feel down, or the opposite, ecstatic!

Those are probably rogue thoughts that strayed into your mind, but I'm just speculating still. I believe if you want something, you don't just think it into existence, oh it isn't that easy! You attract the circumstances and people that will make it possible for you to attain what you are desiring, and then you take action. So, in essence you are in a way, manifesting desires through thought because without the thought, the attraction process wouldn't take place in the first place.

The Art of Manifesting Desires

I'm going to leave you now with a lesson from Neville Goddard. Use it well and prove for yourself whether or not thoughts are capable of manifesting desires.

With your eyes closed and your physical body immobilized induce a state akin to sleep and enter into the action as though you were an actor playing the part. Experience in imagination what you would experience in the flesh were you now in possession of your objective. Make elsewhere HERE and then NOW. And the greater you, using a larger focus will use all means, and call them good, which tend oward the production of that which you have assumed.

—Neville Goddard

Experiment to Try

Try this experiment and see for yourself whether or not manifesting desires from thought is possible.

  1. Think of something small, that you feel that you would like to have within the next few days.
  2. Before sleeping, picture yourself already in possession of the thing for as long as you can and make it real, make it NOW.
  3. For the next few days, just say "Thank you, for ....." and feel gratitude at having received it.

I recently manifested a desire this way. I felt like sharing a bottle of whiskey, whiskey I didn't pay for, with a friend and followed the above directions. The very next evening, a friend called and invited me out for a drink. My budget was very limited so I wasn't planning on staying long. My friend, out of the blue, orders a bottle of whiskey and pays for the entire thing, mixers and all!! I got exactly what I asked for. A shared bottle of whiskey.

Try it.

Do You Believe It Is Possible to Manifest Desires?

Javier Zamora on September 15, 2019:

«* A Course in Miracles (1965/1972):" Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. In this lies the peace of God. "

* Bhagavad Gita (supposedly written about 5000 years ago): "that which is, never ceased or will cease to be, despite appearances."

* Manuscript without title of Nag Hammadi (found in 1945, written in Coptic perhaps between the third and fourth centuries CE): "He is incomprehensible, but it is He who understands everything. Nothing exists outside of Him, but everything exists within Him. He is the limit for all this since it encompasses everything. Everything is with Him, there is no place outside of Him. "»

* "I am responsible for what I see. I choose the feelings I experience and decide the goal I want to achieve. And everything that seems to happen to me I have asked for, and it is granted to me as I requested."

A month ago I was awakened from being. It is that in a dream like I never had in my life I unfolded and I could see my inner child, a new rebirth that expresses access to a new state of consciousness.

I immediately knew and felt clearer than ever the great truths of life. And all conflict and / or concern about the body, mind or spirit vanished. My eternal nature was evident and my purpose too. A feeling of peace, joy and invulnerability are in my whole being.

It is clear that the ego is all thoughts of separation and beliefs of scarcity, limitation, sacrifice, resignation and denial of internal desires.

It is clear that I and the universe are one and that there is nothing external to me.

It is clear that given my eternal, infinite, omnipotent nature any concern of health, money, love, etc. I was over. And that accessing states of peace and infinite bliss was a simple personal choice.

Nice article.

Gareth on June 14, 2018:

I have often read your articles and I find them very good, however I am almost under compulsion to write this. Neville Goddard is in no way a Law of attraction teacher, he never once taught about vibrations, cycles and "attracting" things at all and actually criticized the LOA clan ( he called new thought) in his lectures (I recall 2 offhand)

I have studied Neville at length and I can clear up this confusion, he only ever mentions vibration, kundalini etc.... in regard to the promise.

Neville clearly distinguished between the law and the promise. It is sad that just because the more popular teachers have adopted his "live from the end" that he now gets classed as LOA, when there are several lectures where he completely slams the LOA concept.

Neville taught in basic terms that you are one with God and you create not attract, you create from inside you and shape the world to reflect what you desire, that the world conforms to reflect what you assume.

He also clearly taught that vibrations etc where ONLY when you deal with the promise and that by using the law it eventually wakes God up in you and I think this is where most people go wrong and the lines get blurred. He also taught you are everything and everything is already created as creation is finished, you are above all things eg: vibrations etc as they are created things.

A side note, Neville was not a positive thinker either and or a fan of been so positive that you had to constantly think positively, you did say dwell (as in dwell in the state) of the good and lovely things.

So unfortunately he did not teach that you throw things out into the ether etc..... You are one with the creator, you create, shape and alter things not attract things from out of fresh air, I mean if you take his Barbados tickets, how on earth can anyone say he attracted the tickets, he went out and altered PHYSICAL things, situations, peoples thoughts and views and was given his tickets: just one example.

I really don't mean to seem critical but I am in fact trying to help anyone who has found Neville and from my personal experience with myself and others, as soon as you mix Neville with anyone (basically) your chances of successfully using his teachings are dramatically reduced.(esp that Hicks quack).

Now it is your blog and I am joyful that you get success but please look into Neville deeper and I can guarantee you that you will wildly more successful, wishing you the best.

Thinking about what you want to experience rather than what you don't want to experience is always a good idea. Speaking as someone who has a tendency to be skeptical I can attest that I had to demonstrate the efficacy of purposefully directed thought to myself.

Thought is fundamentally creative. Anyone can prove this thesis to themselves, all you have to do is pay attention. Think about things that make you feel happy ... don't waste time struggling against negativity ... you will create what you dwell upon.

Richard J ONeill (author) from Bangkok, Thailand on February 06, 2015:

Hey Elvis!

Thanks for coming over here and reading. I appreciate the visit!

What I meant by "Most of all, keep it to yourself." can be explained in several ways, all valid and logical when you think about them

1. The scatter effect. When you tell other people about your goals and ideals, your focus is drained. By telling others, you instill a false sense of accomplishment in yourself, as if it were already done. It sucks you dry of motivation essentially. Then you don't act on it because you no longer feel motivated to. You spent your focus at the wrong time. It's better to keep it to yourself, and channel the focus within you each day.

2. Negativity: Not everyone, but some people laugh, poke fun, doubt your capabilities or simply can't stand the thought of you being more than you are. It makes them insecure. They will say things that drain your motivation and sap your confidence.

3. Guilt: The more people you tell, the more you stand to disappoint when you fail to do it. This weighs you down and ironically becomes the reason you can't start the thing you said you would.

I hope that helps, Elvis. I'm still keeping my goals to myself except for those very very close to me.

Keep striving Elvis. :)

Elvis on February 03, 2015:

Hi, I have thoroughly enjoyed your blog. In ending your reply to Justin, you said. 'Most of all, keep it to yourself.' Is that part of the requirement? I have realised that whenever I share my plan with someone before acting on it, it doesn't work anymore. Any explanation why?

Richard J ONeill (author) from Bangkok, Thailand on September 14, 2013:

Hey Justin.

Thanks for that wonderful comment, first of all. It made my day ahead a more enjoyable one!

Yes, the way you mentioned - writing down affirmations and reading them in present tense does work.

What I have found though, in my own exercises, is that writing down and reading affirmations can become tedious as it's only words on a page and therefore not as inspiring as say - images of what you have achieved.

You are also right, Justin, in that it is the subconscious mind that we must influence in order to be steered towards our goal.

It is magic, at least when compared to how people in general go about achieving goals or even just living life.

Here is the most effective way. First of all, go onto google, print off all the images of your goals completed such as a 'six pack' 'mansion' and 'own business' etc. print them, stick them somewhere you will see them often. I put mine in a notebook alongside inspirational messages. Look at the images often, the subconscious will take note BUT will not yet be impressed with the information.

Next, sit, breathe and quiet your mind, eyes closed. Go through the images, giving them life and feeling and also attach the feeling of already having it, like euphoria, satisfaction, a sense of joy a having fulfilled your dreams etc. Touch the objects, smell the air, talk to someone, anything to convince the subconscious mind that it's real or that you want it enough.

Do this for as long and as often as possible.

What will happen is your mind will take that info and say "Your wish is my command" essentially.

It will signpost the way for you to achieve your goals in the best possible fashion. Your awareness will expand to include all the ways in which you can move towards your dreams. You'll be surfing the net and an ad will pop out at you, or you'll be walking down the street and be compelled to turn your head and hey presto - something that will lead you to your dream.

It works. I have proven it on myself.

Just keep one thing in mind - consistency is key. It's got to be consistent. You need to back up your imaging with thoughts throughout the day, thoughts of your success, character building thoughts, happy thoughts.

Most of all, keep it to yourself.

Good luck my friend.

You are on the right path.

Hi.. I love your blog.. Enjoying so many intuitive articles on here..

I've been trying to make sense f the LOA and how to deliberately create. After reading the above post, a question popped up.. Should we write our desires down and read them back as if we have already received them to instil the belief into the subconscious? Is that a step to manifesting; we must influence the subconscious? Thank you again for the wonderful information you share..

Hello and thanks for that great comment Tony!

A Vega machine eh, that sounds like a very interesting device and something that seems to prove that there is a field out there that we can utilize for good. I do know the heart has an electromagnetic field around it but I had no idea other organs did too. Very intriguing!

Thanks again Tony. You have a nice day mate!

Tony L Smith from Macon on May 11, 2012:

Great hub Richawriter, a good friend of mine is a nutritional doctor. He uses a Vega machine to diagnose and treat patients. The machine uses vibrations that come from different organs in the body, then you place remedy vibrations onto a electro-magnetic card that the patient wears around neck. He has had some success with this treatment. When he was describing it to me, the hair on my arms were standing up because I could see how the power of our thoughts and words could change things even more so.

Thanks again for great hub, Tony

Richard J ONeill (author) from Bangkok, Thailand on April 04, 2011:

Yes Pwalker281, I agree with you. It is a struggle choosing which angle to view it from, the quantum physics angle, the religious angle, buddhism, the secret. I like to think that it is part of our mission (as individuals in this reality)to finally realise and understand that everything is one, connected and to stop questioning it and just experience the love in life. Something like that anyway! :) Deep down we all just want to love, there is no hate, or at least no where near as powerful as love. We are perhaps beings of love that created this physical world to experience just how powerful love and happiness could be, which is why we need bad and good. Having the bad makes the good so so much more wonderful.

We created this world, we also have this innate power to control it, but part of the game is that we must, on our journey, come to remember and realise that. As Neville did.

I also pick up feelings very easily, it can be uncomfortable when the feelings are intense but it is a much more positive gift than negative. My mum and I also have a connection.

Thanks again for stopping by at my hub. :)

PWalker281 on April 03, 2011:

I'm still wrestling with trying to understand how this unspoken level of communication occurs. At the quantum level, there is no time or space. Everything exists and occurs simultaneously. Therefore, I don't think there is any travel over distances involved in telepathic communication, but haven't found the words yet to explain how it happens.

When my daughter was young (she's 30 now :-)), we shared this kind of communication. There was one incident in particular when she was in school getting in serious trouble and I was out on a walk nearby. I could feel that something was very wrong, but didn't know what until I got a call from the Vice Principal that afternoon asking me to come in for a conference. I believe I was feeling her fear at having gotten into trouble. I tend to pick up on feelings more than thoughts, but I think the same concept applies.

Another great hub, Richawriter!

Richard J ONeill (author) from Bangkok, Thailand on April 03, 2011:

Thank you Cardisa. You are right, for some reason humanity has perfected the art of manifesting bad things. It is so much easier for us to think negatively, consistently, have you noticed that? It's incredible how we have been conditioned that way. That's why each day, I try to practice what I preach and stay positive and grateful for the good in life.

Thanks for the comment Timetothink, That's funny because I live in Thailand, while my mother lives in the Uk and a very similar thing happens with us. Our connection seems to occur in dreams though, and occasionally while awake as it does with you and your mother. I would go as far as to say that should we find an effective training method and stick to it rigidly for as long as it takes, we would be able to communicate, manifest, heal etc etc.

I really do believe in this stuff, and practice everyday with real results to back up my faith.

Timetothink from Ballarat, Victoria Australia on April 02, 2011:

I live in Australia and my Mother lives in the US. For almost 20 years we have been able to regularly 'spike' each other when there was anything wrong with either one of us or important news about family we needed to share, and especially if we are simply missing one another. We have become so practised at listening to our 'spikes' that we will often phone each other at the exact same moment and we both get a busy signal. We speak every couple of weeks, and this has happened over dozen times outside of our regular phone conversations.

Carolee Samuda from Jamaica on April 02, 2011:

I honestly believe that thoughts as well as words have a superpower. Just as we speak things into being we think them into happening also.

Here in Jamaica we have a saying, 'BAD MIND WORSE THAN OBEAH'. It simply means that if you wish something bad it will happen, just as you wish good to happen.

There are many instances that we want something really bad, and we get it without even uttering a word. The universe responds to our thoughts as well as our requests. One may say God is answering prayers but our thought may be even more magnetic than our words, as we often don't speak what we really mean. The inner thought is the most truthful one can be.

Love this hub!

Richard J ONeill (author) from Bangkok, Thailand on April 02, 2011:

Thanks for the comment Anton. Good point. We do affect each other everyday, and often 2 minds upon meeting, will do one of 3 things: behave neutrally so the owner of the mind feels relaxed, be repelled, leaving the owner feeling defensive and uncomfortable or quite the opposite, be incredibly attracted to the other mind which leads to cases like "love at first sight". All that happens without us choosing how to behave, the mind chooses. Yes, something is definitely occurring.

Thanks again

AntonOfTheNorth on April 01, 2011:

I agree with you. Clearly the mind is activity and not an object, and any activity should be measurable.

Science tends to bemoan the lack of an appropriate instrument to quantify the essential activity of the brain (mind).

I submit that such an instrument already exists: The activity of Other brains.

Just as you can measure an ocean current by its effects on other currents, and we measure an objects vibration by how much sound, light or heat it emits as a result, we 'measure' brain output (mind) with other brains by how the minds interact.

Call them waves, clouds, beams, 'EM ropes' or what have you. We effect each other everyday just by noticing each other.

Yep, not scientific. So? Still something that is occuring.

thanks for the hub
