Third Eye Meditation

Updated on June 28, 2016

There are many techniques to practice meditation and this is yet another of them. The third eye is your gateway or door to your inner world, your Self, and being more in yourself is a sure way of being centered and focused in your day to day activities.

Meditation and Relaxation

Meditation takes many forms to different people. Relaxation to some is their form of meditation, walking in a forest, along a beach, sunbathing by the pool is to some a form of meditation. Anything that allows a person to be with themselves and out of their normal world.

Though to some relaxation methods are not enough, there is still the senses to deal with. Sounds and smells pull you out of your relaxation very easily. High levels of meditation take you out of your senses and hopefully out of your mind, at least your ordinary level of thinking. That incessant blah blah blah that goes around in your head - it's such a drain to hear this over and over and over. Meditation using the Third Eye is a way to go beyond that level of the ordinary mind into deeper states of consciousness.

Out of the Mind out of the Turmoil

It is the way of a Master to be out of his mind completely, total bliss, total space of centredness and nothingness. Why would a person want a state of nothingness? Once you've experienced this peaceful space void of any grossness that years and years of anxiety or burdens have given you, you will feel great relief. You realise your world is so heavy in comparison to deep states of meditation. Relaxation does not go deep enough for many.

Peace and the Mind

Getting out of your mind is no simple task. It takes practice. Going deeper into the Third Eye space you get a sense of going outward. At the same time the world you left behind gets smaller, you no longer hear distracting sounds. This outward space comes from your inner space which becomes void of the senses the deeper you go. Practising resting on and in this space helps to quieten the ordinary mind. It is in this space that you can begin to watch thoughts. Focus on the space which presents lights, colors, blackness, purple space, a sense of peacefulness. You realise you are not in your ordinary mind. Though as soon as you realise this you are back in the ordinary mind! But the more you practice resting in the Third Eye space the easier it is to rest yourself on something far superior than the couch with the TV on. These are some of the third eye meditation benefits and as you push your meditation practices you will be able to push the experiences further and retain consciousness of these experiences.

How do you know your Third Eye is 'working?'

At the centre of the forehead between the eyebrows you may get a sense of pressure, pulsing. At first you may feel absolutely nothing. You may start to see (with your eyes closed) lights and colors, flashes or light, tunnels, vortexes. In the beginning it can be quite strange, a bit scary. With practice and use it will become more and more apparent that you are using your Third Eye.

How does your Third Eye help in daily life?

The Third Eye is not just for meditation. It brings awakening. In daily life to be centered in your Third Eye helps you keep focused during the day, at work, in the supermarket, even in the home. When you start to feel scattered by everything external, the radio, TV, kids screaming, traffic, rushing around, centre yourself in the Third Eye.

If you have an important meeting with the boss or new clients, use the Third Eye to gear into the person you are addressing. It is clearly marked that the person you are talking to knows you are focused on them and not the clock on the wall. With this focus you will take in more, remember more details. You may actually enjoy your day more.

You may have heard that the third eye is dangerous. This statement is perplexing to me. Perhaps because in the 10+ years I have been aware of using my third eye I have found the third eye to be a stabilizing influence in my life. I have never had experiences that were detrimental in fact the opposite is true. The ability to remain centered and in a state of stillness while chaos reigns is a big plus in my book.

Third Eye and Vision - Heightened Awareness

The Third Eye helps you become more aware. You see things around you more sharply. Colors may seem brighter, smells more pungent. Effectively you are more present in the world. Your ordinary mind has been sidestepped and a high state of consciousness has come into your normal world.

Use your Third Eye as your first line of vision, use the eyes as the second level of vision. Vision in this sense becomes more than what you normally see with the physical eyes. Vision covers more than what you see. It lifts your senses. Vision is not just what you see, it is what you hear, smell, touch, sense and what you come to know beyond the physical facade of our normal daily life. When you look at someone you see into them, you notice them the person. It's not something spooky like they become like an ethereal figure in front of you, though you may see their aura - that's a common effect of a Third Eye awakening.

Third Eye is Universal

It is more commonly known that the third eye is part of the Hindu or Buddhist tradition of spiritual practices. In Hindu it is known as the 'eye of knowledge' or the 'teacher inside'. In Buddhist art it is shown as a gem on the forehead. You often see the Bindi worn with the Indian dress. But did you know it is also covered in Christian teachings? In the words of the Gospels,

"The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light." (Matthew 6:22)

Vision is a word often touted in spiritual circles. It does not refer solely to the external sense of sight. You actually start to SEE.

Awakening the Third Eye Workshops are conducted on a regular basis in many countries. If you get a chance to participate I highly recommend it.

I hope you get as much benefit out of using your Third Eye as I have.

I feel so inadequate to comment on your sea of knowledge on your favorite subject. I will try the book and see if I can ever get myself so far to start meditating. I have this nervous energy as part of my life for so long, and tried meditation before and I suck at it. I started yoga 2 months ago and I battled so much in the beginning with just to get my breathing right! Then to be still and empty my thoughts! Sigh I'm still not there!

Hi Annie, Your Mars/Moon, Mars/Uranus, and Uranus aspects give you a predisposition to nervous energy. It's a paradox really and not as it seems. The other side of nerves, or fear is excitement. This energy can give the feeling of fear when it is actually not fear at all. It's an awakening spark that you can ride on. It's all a matter of standpoint this one. I have similar and it has taken allot of work to not feel the anxiety that comes with it. In later years (as we are experiencing now) the feelings are welcome as a way of not falling into the pit of middle age. Who wants boring when you can have a Mars/Uranus/Moon combination! So when you feel the anxiety/nerves/excitement, breath into it and through it and keep moving forward. It will get easier and easier.

And it takes allot of work to empty the mind of thoughts. So much so that it is at times a fruitless exercise. Even long term meditators have trouble. Anyone who at least has a go at meditating is doing themselves a great service. Anything that takes you from external mahem to being with your own self is a positive.

I love it when you visit, and you will never be inadequate.

I fiñd this very intresting. u are on the right path i can tell u ar third eye open i am actually writing about the same elements of life myself and no one understands it unfortunately but thats what makes it so special if we were all enlightintened the world would be a much beter place its a blessing to see it for what it is because everyting falls into place and the world is not a big puzzle anymore its like its simplified down so u can digest it. consciosness is the key remember sleep is the cousin of death u do not crave anyting when u are in the middle of ur sleep food alchol sex u are free, almost a natural numbed out happiness, and thats what it is when u die u shape shift u dont have a physical body but ur energy ur life force wich is here with u now and will be still ther even when ur body rots away like a piece of fruit, remember clearity ur mind should be like a crystal clear and reflecting the envoirment which it is in

A great hub! I particularly appreciated your open-minded approach regarding the various types of meditation employed by people. Not everybody is suited to setting time aside each day to sit and meditate and can gain as much benefit from a walk in nature, as you've mentioned. Any work that I do with my own guides begins with 3 cycles of rhythmic breathing through my third eye (and a dumo visualization) and picture and feel the indigo energy as it infuses my entire body. Your point about heightened awareness is well made... it has added an incredible new dimension to my own journey. This is the first hub of yours that I've read but it certainly won't be the last! Thanks and Blessings.

hi, i m relatively new to thrid eye meditation. i have been seeing purple lights in between my eyebrows for many months but recently(today morning) when i was in deep thinking, i saw similar lights with my eyes open, also entering the space between my eyebrows. what do you think is happening?

Jewels 8 years ago from Australia

Thanks for your comment vishali. I also have had this experience, the purple space with my eyes open. Understand that it is not your two eyes that are having this experience though you think it is. You are in an involuted state, your consciousness is deeper than it would normally be in a waking state. There are some who can meditate with eyes open and so this would be one space that is experienced.

      Hi, Jewels,

Great hub! I need to look into meditation. I've never done it although I used to practice "self-hypnosis." In this crazy world, making a quiet space for ourselves sounds really good.

      Fascinating!

It is a complicated thing to teach in a short writing, but you have done a remarkable job! I found myself contrasting what you were saying with ways I have meditated in the past, which might more aptly be called relaxation excercises. Well, it worked for me, though I seldon engage in it any more.

Thanks for a good hub and for the peek into your world!

I've always known that feeling while meditating, but never actively attempted to use it throughout the day. Maybe I'll give that a go.

What do you think about other forms of meditation, used to put one into the present moment (surfing, rock climbing, other forms that keep one in the moment). I know you touched on it, but I wonder if you think the third eye comes into play here.

The third eye is used for vision and focus and centredness. So with all tasks the third eye is the best tool to engage. It gives you a heightened awareness in your outer as well as inner world.

I have a question. I have heard that some people are more synchronized with one of the other chakras. Is it necessary for every one to focus on the third eye chakra?

    • Jewels profile image
      Author

Jewels 7 years ago from Australia

Third eye center is the one through which all other chakras can be seen, it's the device for inner vision. If someone is aware that their sacral or crown or whatever chakra is active, how is it they see this? Whether you're aware of it or not, it's through the third eye that inner vision is possible. My third eye is always being used and is very tangible physically. For those not aware they are using their third eye it would pay to become more conscious of it.

hello...I have been practising reiki for some time and started feeling intense pressure in the middle of my forehead..my intuition has increased but other than that, there is not much change in my life.

    • Jewels profile image
      Author

Jewels 7 years ago from Australia

Hello Nia L, sounds like your eye is active. It is a muscle and will want to be flexed. If you can push further with what you see it will help. I have allot of friends who started with reiki.

    • profile image

      Nia L 7 years ago

I have a question about this third eye concept. I 've heard that people can actually see the future through visions and stuff..is this all true? And is it dangerous in any way? I did not do any exercise relating to third eye. In fact, I did not even know much about it until I started feeling this pressure. It just became active itself or because of reiki I gues.

    • Jewels profile image
      Author

Jewels 7 years ago from Australia

Nia, What I find dangerous is when people completely believe all they are told, and that includes psychics. Even if a reputable psychic foretells your future, remember your future can change regardless of what that person told you. That's what choice is all about. You turn left instead of right and your time line can change. Be discerning and not gullible. I have known of people playing with energies they know nothing about and in doing this end up quite sick themselves. You can learn to stay centered and go for the highest you can. If your intuition is becoming more active, you are likely to get a hunch when something is 'just not right.' Learning how to see and what it is you are seeing is important when you use energy, such as reiki for example. The main reason I do the spiritual work I do is because when I was having reiki sessions I was not satisfied being told what was happening. I wanted to see for myself, I mean really see - that's physically and metaphysically.

For some the third eye experience can be spontaneous, for others who want to have it open, it can be done easily. And for others it will remain closed and unused.

The Meditation Portal to Inner Worlds will help strengthen the opening of your third eye. Alternatively there is currently available a free download of the Awakening the Third Eye Book. You can find that via the Meditation link. Look for Free Stuff.

mine opened in 2000 when I thought that I was being fearless one evening , my friends said there were ghostly activity happening in the house, and well "I'm not afraid" LOL, so I went upstairs sat down in the dark by myself and said out loud "ok, its ok come on " .I somehow fooled myself into thinking I might be commuincating with the Ghosts!, especially when the tingle in my right side of my forehead started to feel like a catapillar trying to cross to the middle of my forehead. I actually thought the ghost was touching my right temple doing this, then when i crack my eyes open I saw reversal of lite, everything dark light and visa versa, I forgot about it until a year later at a large spiritual meeting it starting again, now I had been scared thinking I had a brain tumor, so off the med library I went to get the bad news. But instead the libarian noticed I'm still freaking out after a week came over to me and asked , What is wrong? I told her about the tingle and being now to will it to come to me and tingle, the headachesand the plain old white lite around eveything. She smiled and said ahh you opened your third eye, and walked away!!!!, until recently none knew what I had been talking about, my dad said it was evil, my mom thought I was nuts, and even a wiccan female did not know what I was going through. But recently Ive noticed more people with the tingles, mine is now firmly in the middle and going off right now. So I'm going to try the meditation a see where I can go. By the way I do not think that alot of people are going through this awakening for nothing, somehow we are being prepard for something, so I better get crackin.

      Thank You

I have been meditating for around 3 months now. Today for the first time I believe I meditated through my Third Eye. I experienced a moving mist of purple. In this mist I could see movement as though something shadowy was on the other side of the mist. Try as I might I couldn't see through it, but felt both a buzzing in my hands and feet like electrical pulses. I felt a whooshing in my head when I tried to move into the mist. I believe I am progressing in my meditation to a spiritual level and am enjoying the experience. I eventually came out of my meditation feeling somewhat on a high, but quite lightheaded. I am using binaural beats to reach this level as I find without them I am distracted by noises around me. Although in saying that this afternoon I meditated with music in the room and was able to almost reach the purple, but not quite. I've always managed yellow/orange in the past, so seeing purple is a bonus. Have enjoyed reading in this hub.

Ahhhh the Purple Space, the space of intermediary worlds. I remember when I first started involution practices with my yoga teacher a long time ago and I complained that all I ever see is the purple space. I didn't see any other color except black and purple. He laughed saying this is the space you want to see. Glad you enjoyed this hub DiamondSu.

Well,i was trying to open my third eyes through meditation.Couple of days before i felt headache after my meditation. After it as soon as i concentrate in my

third eyes i can see indigo color with golden aura. One day i seen i am travelling in a very dark tunnel for a couple of second. The strange thing is as soon as i started to see the various colour and tunnel i feel heat all over my body specially very intense in my face and ear.How does all of things related with third eyes?

I really wanted to experience third eye as i know it will give myself different understanding and dimension in my life.Anybody could help me out to develop my third eye concept.

      Cheers,

Hello Ray. You are not alone in your experiences. The feeling of heat is not uncommon and is the awakening of your body of energy; your life force is also effected by activation of your third eye. Also the experiences of a tunnel, like travelling forward and back through the tunnel. Keep experimenting by having the experience. Be persistent. And just because the tunnel is dark doesn't mean you are in the 'wrong' place. You can have amazing experiences in the black, and you see that black is not just black!

I highly recommend Meditation Portal to Inner Worlds which is just above the comments box. It's not expensive and gives a very good foundation and practical method of using the third eye. Let me know if you have any other questions with your third eye experiences.

Dear Jewels, glad to know that my body has started to awaken.

Can you make sure the heat is not the indication of any danger which could hurt me or it is not like my body is taking too much energy at that moment which it not used to be before?

Another strange thing is i am experiencing the etching sensation in my right feet one particular finger after my meditation.I had a little pain before due to some reason in my particular this finger. As i know when we meditate deeply , the cosmic energy flow through our all body and it heal every problem related to our body.Is the etching sensation for that particular reason? I don't

know just trying to guess :)

Also the color which i see ( indigo and golden) became crystal clear now and i feel it dispersing around myself, suddenly it is changing to black as well.

Thank you very much for your recommendation as well.I will have a look those things as well as soon as i will manage to get some extra time to explore.

Ahhhh - niggling pain. Because meditation creates a superior sense of relaxation, you find that you start to let go of tension you didn't realize you were holding. Heat is a common experience in spiritual practices within the body.

The Awakening the Third Eye book (above) is currently a free download via www.clairvision.org, but not for long as it's going into a reprint. It's full of practical information you'll find useful.

Another thing,i can see a couple of minutes those very dense color during my meditation and then it left. How could i see all the time those deep color during my meditation.

      Hope you are well.

The vibration is your life force awakening. The sensations are feelings and can become more heightened because of the practice. Your experiences will come and go so the colors are often not constant but change the deeper you go. The purple space is one of many that you can experience. Often if you force an experience it won't happen, so wanting to go back to the purple space can make your practice more difficult and the mind gets active which is not what you want to happen. Observe by all means but forcing your third eye experiences is defeating the purpose of letting go.

      Dear Jewels,

Recently i am seeing some very tiny purple particles as well as some white sort of bubble like particles with purple color in outside ,in both my eye open and close condition. They are moving like a little insects around me.As i can see the same thing in my open as well as with close eye,it means those perception is not related to my physical eyes.

Do,u have any idea what kind of subtle things those are and why am i seeing them?

I hope my teacher is doing well and enjoying her life.

      With love,

Hi Ray, You are going well I see. Speaking of seeing - I remember clearly when I started to see 'non physical' images with the physical eyes. My mind was confused wondering which eye was doing the seeing as it felt like it was the physical eyes. It's not the physical eyes as you have discovered. Nonetheless it's allot of fun. You are seeing into different layers of perception. It's wonderful you are expanding your awareness.

Also one day i have seen a red/pink thick color band moving and i can see it ,i wondered what was that color band? I am seeing more and more particles everyday as i think something

is progressing rapidly everyday around me.

What would be next Jewels, can i able to see non physical bodies around me soon if it continues to develop? I am really very excited about it.

Hi i am used to seeing purple colours when meditaitng but lately it has changed to blue? any ideas why.

this happened the day i had a shock, we were on holiday in the pool and there was a storm, lightening hit the tree and went through the pool giving everyone a shock, not a coincdence i think.

Hi Clare. Glad you survived the lightening strike. With the colors, perhaps don't get too caught up in the color, but feel the presence(s) in the space as well as you in the space. Keep exploring, but be careful not to get too 'in the mind' with the experiences. The purple space can change to black, blue, and blue/black/purple. Get the sense of the depth, stillness. Note the qualities.

Some fifteen years ago I was asked by a lady to close my eyes and to look. "What do you see?" My answer: "Nothing." From her: "What are you?" "Eh?" From her again: "Keep looking...now what are you?" I could not fathom the question. From her: "You are the Observer. You are that which experiences. You are the Witness...all the rest is illusion."

It's hard to take that in. But as the years progress and the meditation continues I know it is true.

It could have been the opening of a tunnel, particularly as it started to swirl. Often these are spaces to move through. Stay centered with your vision, your experiences. Let them come, let them go. It's more about observing and experiencing. The mind will grasp onto images and try to put names to them - this is not what you want to do. Be fluid and be as peripheral as you can. By the way, it is the little mind that became startled. When you become more adept with your third eye vision the more your consciousness will expand, the more out of your mind you will become. Well done Jade.

There is much to see using the third eye. Whether your physical eyes are open or closed, the vision is markedly different. With the physical eyes open and with a dynamic awareness what you see physically is sharper, more bright. Not only is there a change to what you see, but the ability to hold the attention of the person you are with, you see into them in a much clearer way. Your own attention is keener, more astute. Often the sense of taste and smell is heightened. Be careful not to get too caught up in 'sight' as vision encompasses many facets. Seeing peoples auras is not a guarantee with an activated third eye but is certainly possible. Often you see the hue and you push straight past it to another level of vision.

I'm forty eight a mother of five and I've recently I think, Opened my third eye. I was meditating and saw a man's face it looked three-D it turn from side to side and back to the front and then when it turned to the other side I saw my own face connected to the back of his head and I was speaking something.

I've seen people and homes.Once I saw soldiers talking to one other. But I have not seen this dark sky with stars am I on a lower vibration?

Once I saw some sort of being and he was speaking but when he spoke symbols came out of his mouth floating toward me.

Sandy, I saw dark sky and stars once, and I've not been able to 'find it' again! Faces are interesting. The key is to go peripheral with them and also the meaning. Sometimes it's a reflection of yourself, some aspect at least. It's common to want to put our experiences into the 'right and wrong' box, this doesn't help. Fact is you are having experiences within your inner landscape. Go peripheral with the meanings also. How does it relate to 'me?' is a good question. 'What is this showing me?' And be aware of the space itself. Feel for flavors within the landscape. Persist and explore within the space of the third eye vision. Sounds wonderful what is happening for you.

Beginners Meditation - please define what you mean by 'meeting.'

The 'purple space' is a deeper level of consciousness than the ordinary mental level, within the astral space. It is through the device of the third eye that you can experience the purple space. Going deeper from here, the sojourn of consciousness takes you to Darkness Visible, the first of the intermediary worlds closest to the physical.

Once the third eye is open keep on practicing. The mantra of the meditator - Practice practice practice. though the third eye does not have to be only for meditation practices. It's called a 'device' because it's a tool used for vision; vision in it's widest meaning. Your third eye is the gate to inner worlds, and also useful for everyday activities giving heightened awareness. So lets say it's not just for the blissful meditator but for practical every day uses.

This is impressive a three year thread for this hub.

Just a thought, but is there a relation or some type of connection between the third eye and dreams. I understand you control one, while the other is sort of involuntary.

      Thanks

      !:}

Jewels 6 years ago from Australia

Good question. I'm not sure I have the complete answer to it. You can have dreams without the conscious use of the third eye. Vision in dreams is not the same type of vision I experience using the third eye, but I do remember some that had similar flavors. You've made me back track over some experiences here, so thank you. As you indicated, you can control the vision experienced via the third eye for sure. Dreams are not so simple, unless you are astral traveling (conscious during sleep); It is known that people adept at astral traveling can control their dreams, ie chose to alter their state of consciousness to move away from the dream.

Another part of the question to explore is whether the third eye is active while astral traveling. If you were conscious during the sleep phase - yes it would be active. The third eye is to inner vision, what the physical eyes are to the outer world.

      hi jewels,

great post. im glad there are people who write things like this because it's hard to talk to anyone about it in my daily life. well, i opened my third eye last year i think, but i neglected it then. i've had some tough things happen over the last few weeks and it seemed to open me up a little more. it was an emotional time for my family. i am the type who really holds my feelings in, so i think i was guided to look within myself for help. i started meditating again, seeing purple, green, and gold. i keep seeing eyes, sometimes one eye, sometimes wolf eyes(i think)in the purple color. i get intense heat in my hands a lot of the time now. i can see the aura. it started out just white light around an individual or an object. now i can see faint colors around. my dreams have been very clear and i remember all details(colors, feeling, individuals etc). 5 days ago i was a nervous wreck. for no apparent reason though. i meditated for a good 1/2 hour and i felt like i had an overload of energy. not that excited happy energy, but like too much flowing energy. i couldn't control it all, but it subsided after a few days. last month also, while in bed, i had an extreme heat at the base of my spine. the next day i ended up in the hospital with terrible cramps and bloody stool. (sorry its kind of gross) i was tested for different things and nothing came up. the pain was in between the navel and pubic bone. it went away after a few days thankfully. i had that intense heat again yesterday and i had no digestive issues thank God. is this heat at the spinal base common??

im just rambling now and i think im confusing myself lol. i think i've been awakened and it seems everything is moving very fast right now and i don't really know what to do

Hi Philly, wow! So much is happening for you all at once. It feels like an awakening, like a flaring of your 'subtle bodies' Often when the third eye awakens spontaneously, there can be an awakening of energy centres, a more vibrant effect in the etheric (life force). I'm glad you went to a medical practitioner about your physical experiences, it's always wise to rule out these things. Impactions and counter-impactions are experiences people do have. It's common that a womans menstrual cycle is effected by doing 'inner work', to what degree depends on the person. And it is certainly common to become more emotional. It's important to stabilize this and then begin a structured routine of managing your energy.

I'd be happy to talk to you one on one if you like on your experiences. Send me a message via hubpages and we can go from there. Feels exciting!

      Hello Jewels,

This is such an interesting and well researched hub. I have been meditating, and get tremors or little shaking sensations in my upper back. I have scoliosis, so does that mean I have a blockage of energy? It's not scary or painful, just something I never felt, and I'm been meditating more now. I do see a chiropractor. Also, I wrote a hub about Indigo Children, and one man was so excited. Apparently he saw auras around everyone as a child, and his Mom told him not to tell people, they would think he was nuts! I recommended that he read your hubs, since I recalled you knew so much about meditation. I hope that's OK! Take care.

Virtual Treasurers - nothingness is worth pursuing, an amazing space of totally letting go of the mind. Paradoxical that we have a fullness of being when we are in this space of nothingness!

Jean, it's a common experience when you do serious meditation practices that pain will emerge from the body. What's interesting is that in many cases the pain stops after meditating. This 'metaphysical' pain is something to source and can lead to uncovering deeply embedded 'scars of the mind' (samskaras), traumas from the past. There is physical discomfort also and both need to be dealt with. The scoliosis may be creating blockages or hindering a flow of sorts, hence the shaking sensations. What's interesting is the condition itself.

I am an IST Practitioner, which is a modality that deals with sourcing these traumas and resolving the blockages.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. After I feel those sensations, I do feel better, and usually calmer as well. When I had the surgeries I was only a young child, so it was traumatic, I did not really understand what the doctors where doing to me, only that it was unpleasant and it hurt. My parents thought it better not to discuss it all, that it would make me nervous. But I think children should be told as much of the truth as they can understand. I know they had good intentions though. Thanks again.

Hi I just came across your hub as lately I have been "playing" with my third eye and tonight I have gotten significantly sick, with my body, neck, and forehead heating up. I am wondering if it is just a sickness, although I do feel a third eye sensation and I feel much more easy to connect to its energy. So I'm wondering if it is a result of my third eye "awakening"... just wanted to share.

Hi John, without seeing you and asking more questions about your experience I can't really say whether these sensations are a result of using your third eye muscle. With some people there is a heightened sensitivity in the life force which can highlight blockages. Also sensations of nausea can occur because of the presencing and subsequent movement or stirring of these blockages.

Send me an email via hubpages if you like if you want more clarity with your experiences.

I don't even know where to start! I have a ton to say but I'll try to cut it short. I have been lucid dreaming every night like 3 dreams a night for like one month straight. I remember them and find it unsual that things in my dream have been happening in real life, or seem to have a connection. Like in one of my dreams a house was being hit by ocean water waves as if the house was built on the sea, then exactly two weeks later there was that Tsunami in Japan. And so many other dreams that were starting to relate to my real life. Anyway, have been working on meditations and awakening the pineal gland ever since I found out about not too long ago, and I had the most crazy dream of a ghost coming into my body and in my dream I felt sooooooo sooo different, I felt this spirit shaking my core, my heart section. It was all too fightening and I asked my sister in the dream to turn on the light because I was getting scared.. and she wasn't moving fast enough, so I told myself, "you need to wake up NOW" and I opened my eyes in real life and I saw these white lights creating a pulsating moving tunnel and in the center I could see the corner of my desk in my room with all the junk on it very very clearly as if I was awake looking at it. But I was actually under my covers in pitch blackness. I freaked out and whipped the covers off of me and thought the it was the "ghost" in my dream. I didn't want to go back to sleep anymore I was so dumbfounded. In that dream there were two white owls by the way... and when I told my sister the dream (that she happened to be in with me) she later told me she had been watching a movie with two white owls and this evil vibrating light spirit trying to destroy one of them-haven't caught the name of the movie yet, but I would like to see it! I'm in shock that my dreams are so clear and so close to my real life.... and welll anyway... I kind of stopped trying to awaken my pineal gland because of that last dream that scared me. But not too long ago I was laying on the bed with my small son in the dark ready to go to sleep and there it was again! The same exact white lights creating this tunnel like the hypnotizing video's on youtube, and then all of a sudden I see these eyes! Just like "Philly" wrote above 5 months ago! Anyway, I was seeing the part of the eyes, eyebrows and skin around this area, but no nose, no mouth... they were images in black and white and they seemed to be of indian descent. But the eyes keep changing, like what seemed every millisecond, and sometimes the eyes where mismatched, the eyebrows would change as well. And I was trying to soak it all in... just let it happen, and then started focusing my attention on this light and as I did it got so much brighter and brighter, and in one instant it was as if someone lit some real light on infront of me, it flashed so brightly and had a hint of light green... and BAM, it was all gone. Amazing.

I couldn't figure out why indians... but I do know that my mom is from Bolivia and her people are Inkas. They did look a lot like her family, a bit of flat faced around the eyes... that's exactly how I saw the people... they seemed to be men.. but not certain of it.

Anyhow, I've been busy with my son, we are both sick and between work and my son, I don't have enough time to mediate, although I still lucid dream every night. I am interested in what suggestions you would have for me!! I'm a pisces and I can't help but want to dig deep into what life really is... it facinates me, what we really are. So if you can please guide me into something that will help me go deeper into my enlightened journey I would truly appreciate it Jewels!! Thank you!! :) dantelissgiobee@yahoo.com

It feels like you are having flarings which can happen when the third eye is activated. The focus on the lights is often intense and can get more intense the more you open. This should stabilize, or you will learn to stabilize it. A treasure of wisdom given to me was "it's not what you see, but the fact of seeing." The mind wants to grasp for meaning of everything you are experiencing which can go counter to what is required. Flowing with the experiences is important. Stabilizing yourself, especially in the case of having fear in the experiences. Let them come, let them go. How you are feeling is something to tune into. What is this experience doing for me? Always go for the highest and most pristine of spaces, but of course that's not always easy in the beginning. I have sent you a personal note.

Hi Jewels, I enjoyed reading your post. Connecting the vibration of the throat to the third eye is a good way to start with. There are also other ways like meditating on the divine sound or the divine light, whichever is easier to perceive. Another effective practice is to get the attention to the energy body (as told by Eckhart Tolle) or as mentioned in Vipassana.

Interesting you mention the throat Jeyaprakash, as part of this Third Eye meditation practice there is the technique of throat friction, using the larynx. Covered comprehensively in the Awakening the Third Eye text, it's a powerful technique to aid in centredness as well as awakening the body of energy - life force.

In Hindu philosophy the third eye of Lord Shiva is the eye that sees neutrally without any biases.

The awakening means that the awakened one is able to see the world dispassionately and hence with clarity. One of the simpler ways of opening it is the "urdhva netra" position meaning a position in which you close your eyes and roll them upward so that you seem to be looking at the position of the third eye between the eyebrows. Breathing deeply while holding this position enables one with some practice to sink deep within oneself. This is preferably done after some warm up exercises since the body is then tuned to concentrate upon the eye.i often fall asleep in this position and wake up in a few moments totally refreshed.

Just adding a bit to your vast knowledge store jewel. Keep up the good work

Good morning to everyone here on hubs, I love this page! I myself have been meditating for a couple of months now and I've been seeing like a mist of purple reddish and sometimes like an electric blue! Is this normal? Sometimes I get strong heart palpatations and sometimes a light headache. When I'm meditating is this normal? When I'm done with the meditating sometimes I can see like the energy of materialistic things like a chair a frame and sometimes its like I see a person with like a golden or white lining of the outside of their body! Is this normal! I'm sorry for all these questions but I'm a newbie and hopefully you can give me some pointers or advice! God bless everyone on here!

Jewels 5 years ago from Australia

Hello Elizabeth. Yes you are "normal" (whatever that means) :D One of the experiences people have when they begin to meditate is an opening of the body of energy. This is known as the etheric, qi, or life force. It's part of the letting go process of the mind from the day to day grind your body endures. Releases will happen and this could also account for your heart palpitations. However if it continues don't be a martyr.

It is also common for people to have openings of vision both inner and what appears to be external vision like you are having with objects. This also is inner vision even though it's of external objects. It's an indicator that your third eye is being used.

Headaches are also an experience. This occurs by a natural release; You are undoing a certain level of grasping around the cranial area just by meditating. Afterall meditation is about letting go and just being. There is a practice in the Awakening the Third Eye book known as uplifting. These exercises can help with alleviating headaches. Have a go. If your headaches persist then it may be something deeper to look at.

You will experience lights and colors, as you have already. Try not to grasp onto these, they are wonderful nonetheless. Keep moving through, let these experiences come and go. And enjoy them, they are normal!

Good morning Jewels and to everyone on hub. First I like to say I enjoy reading the positive messages from everyone on here. Thank you for this page! I try meditating and its great but I have 2 questions for you. My first question is after I meditate for a little while when I open my eyes I start to see like some kind of bright colors like pink, green, kind of gold colors but its like the colors reflect off of me. Like if I'm siting and the colors kind of come off of me, then I feel like a strong kind of pressure on my head no headache just pressure? My second question is when I stay staring at myself in the mirror for a few minutes its like I become someone else I can see a man figure like on my face and around me I can't quite see the face clear but I know its a man an older much older man. I don't understand what this means or is this a spirit guide of mine? Can you please help me to try to understand this I'm confused. Thank you. Blessings to you always.

    • Jewels profile image

Jewels 5 years ago from Australia

Hi Amy, to answer the first part - the experience you are having of the colors 'reflecting off you' feels like you are quite involuted, as if you are in a state where you become the colors, or you become the light. If you are a 'feeling' type of person and quite sensitive the ability to be in this space may come naturally to you. See if it is something that is repeated in your practices. Nothing to worry about, go with the experience.

With regard to the strong pressure - when you awaken subtle bodies like the third eye it's not uncommon to feel sensations around the cranial area, this includes pressure, vibrations etc. In the Awakening the Third Eye book (a free download above) there is a section on uplifting which can help with this pressure.

Thirdly, in regard to the images - this experience is quite common believe it or not! When doing a practice known as vision spaces where two people work together instead of one using a mirror, it's often an experience for someone to see the person in front of them change appearance. Sometimes this appearance is beautiful, sometimes quite gross. It's not totally clear whether it is some part of the person's personality trait coming through in them, or in the person perceiving it. We have many facets to us, some lovely, some not so good, some wise, some naïve, some innocent, aggressive etc. Not everything is black and white with these experiences, in fact it's more grey and unfathomable. So it's good to use the inner senses and ask questions like "how does this feel to me?" "What is this showing me?" "How can I apply what I am seeing to myself?" If the answers don't come easily, let them pass.

Great experiences and thanks for sharing your questions.

And can I say that for you to be having these experiences shows how safe and held you feel with your husband. Your ability to let go and dive into a more involuted inner space is primarily what's happening here. Your third eye is open and you are experiencing a landscape that for some is attained via a meditative state.

To push the practice have a go at meditation. Either try the Portal to Inner Worlds which will guide you into a very effective third eye meditation practice. Or grab the free download Awakening the Third Eye.

Feel free to send a personal email if you want to discuss things further. And again, there are many women and men out there that would love to be having these experiences - it's what sex is meant to be like.

      Hi Jewels :-)

I will do both the download and I will also take up your kind offer of sending you my email - Thanks!

I thought it to be more than just happiness... I have had it happen now about 5 times over the past couple of weeks.

Meditation is not something I have really done before, although I am quite a spiritual person in outlook, and I do study esoteric astrology.

Thanks again, for answering my 'wonder' :-)

Hi! i just wondered if seeing beautiful vivid starlike rainbows around white lights and even in the reflections of light at night is my third eye? the happier i am the larger the rainbows. i sometimes feel europhic & it feels like an amazing gift from the universe. at the same time my vision (and other senses) gets much sharper and clearer. i have had my eyes checked many times - no problems. the eye doctor just says it must be your brain doing that. is that my third eye?

Provided you are not taking mind altering substances, it does sound like you are having experiences because of third eye vision. I'm being flippant there, but there is an interesting saying when doing meditation practices and going deeper and deeper into third eye spaces, which is "who needs drugs when you can do this."

The next frontier of science is going to be putting more and more attention on consciousness and it's effects on the brain. So it's easy at the moment for medical practitioners to say "it must be your brain" when in meditation practices you can take your consciousness outside the organic structures of the body, ie the brain and senses.

It's common when using the third eye consciously that external vision is much sharper, but it's not because of the physical eyes, it's the eye in the middle!

Many thanks for this, this is just excellent.

A quick question if I may.

I have only done this once, and when I did, I felt a pressure in the middle off my forehead. Kinda in between the two eyes.

It felt very very strange, not scary, but strange. I guess that I was not expecting it, and was wondering if you could tell me what this means?

Also, when doing this, I was in some sort off bottle with my "mind" if you like. Almost as though my mind was scared off this. Would that be normal?

Hi Conor, the pressure is caused by the physical sensation of an opening of the third eye centre (between the eyebrows). Pressure, tingling, buzzing, denseness are common sensations. Even though the third eye is a metaphysical point for inner vision and sharpness of vision, the physical sensations are very tangible when you first begin practices on the third eye. Strange is a good term - anything unknown or new is strange!

Secondly, anything the mind does not understand in a logical fashion causes a fear or doubt or caution of the experience. This is also common. Go gently with the practice to ensure your mind does not prevent further opening.

Glad you found the information Conor and enjoy your third eye experiences.

meditateproperly: It's wonderful that science is catching on and doing tests that prove the benefits of meditation. The positive physical implications of meditation are vast. Of course as your name suggests, meditating properly also helps. Sorry to have taken so long to answer, I've been in a meditation intensive.

Lakshminarayana Arikeri: I'm not sure what needs to be explained. There is no need to place the hand anywhere near the forehead when meditating. This could be a reflex perhaps, a habit which can be undone. Or is this part of your training? A side note is to keep the third eye pure and free of grime, so make sure your hands are clean.

Absolute stillness is of course a major key to successful meditation. Friction between the eyebrows is common however you want to aspire for refined sensations in these structures. If the sensation is like a buzz for example, it is a sign of a more exvoluted standpoint. A pathway is created between the 'chakras' within, above and below the body. Though within a serious involuted state this pathway becomes a blur as if all are one and the same. To see this requires an expansion of consciousness - to understand or see the blur is to first see/experience them separately.

Hello to you. I wonder if you could help me on something. Back in the mid-nineties, I was at work and suddenly came to the realisation that I was "seeing" a pulsating energy or light force. I have to say "seeing" as I don't know if I did. When I closed my eyes, it was still there. It was generally red, orange, white in colour and initially looked like lots of triangles (but without the bottom side) joined together. It was so prominent, I thought I was going blind. It happened several times over a period of about two months. Then disappeared, occasionally re-appearing up until early 2000. I have tonight, however, witnessed it again. This time, the colour was a wonderful bright blue, getting lighter and lighter until it blended into a bright white light. The same shape was there, as were the semi-triangles and the pulsing, energetic nature of it. It occurred whilst I was sat on the sofa with my little boy with him practising his writing. I would welcome any thoughts.

Hi Rob, Sounds like great experiences, on both occasions.

It's not uncommon to get freaked out when things like this first start happening - obviously there is no reference for the experience.

It sounds like you are having third eye flarings, and of course third eye experiences. Interestingly it's like they are non-physical experiences that you are having physically. Other people are not seeing what you are! On numerous occasions I've had lights and colors appear with my eyes open, these experiences are usually with the eyes closed. They are the result of the third eye itself - the structure for inner vision.

Hi Jewels and everyone on here, thanks for your help! Jewels i've been meditating for a little while now and i'm experiencing some really strange things. One day at work i was meditating and all of a sudden it was like i got a sort of a strange kind of shock right in the middle of my forehead! I can't even explain it, it was very vivid and it kind of took me to a dark space and it was like i was all alone and out of nowhere it's like these bright colors started shining from very far then i was in awe because these colors were so beautiful. to make a long story short after i meditated i felt very relaxed and peaceful. Now here is the interesting part of all this, as I left from work i started to look at the clouds in the sky and i saw what looked like tiny microscopic atoms in the air floating but they were full of radiant bright kind of clear white lights almost to say dancing and having a joyous time on earth. It's unexplainable but these little lights put such a smile on my face that i was feeling full of joy and happiness it was amazing! a beautiful experience but the strange thing is i only see this in the day time not at night. When i go outside my husband looks at me as if something is wrong! Lol! I know there is nothing wrong with this because it makes me feel happy and joyous every time i see this. I'm not going crazy right? Lol! thanks in advance Jewels for your help. is there any explanation for what i'm seeing? with love Elizabeth. :)

Hi Jewels :), reading this page has helped me so much and would like to thank you. I, like many have wondered countless times what the sensation between my eyes was, I have also though it may have been a tumour or something along those lines, but I now know its my 'third eye' :D. I get it now and then but am yet to be able to control the sensation, it just happens at random. Would you recommend anything to help my be able to control it?

On another note today whilst in the bath I was listening to some music whilst concentrating on a tile on the wall when out of nowhere my vision started flushing yellow (it started from my peripheral and worked its was to the centre of where I was staring), it would last a few seconds and everything would be back to normal, but if I kept concentrating the 'yellow' would be slower and last a little longer than the previous. Whatever it was I feel so relaxed now and feel amazing :).

Hi Elizabeth - no your not mad! lol! It's actually a common experience - ie to see colors through your 'non-physical eye' as more vibrant than physical colors. The dark space - it's not really dark - it has a texture and has flavors. The use of the word flavors is good when mapping alternate states of consciousness. In the school of meditation I am in, we have extensive experience in mapping meditative states. The black is not a 'dark' place or space, and nor is it boring compared to lights and colors. Out of the black comes something - as you've experienced. And not all black is the same. Paradoxes occur in these states often!

I do recommend however, that you be careful when out and about in traffic etc. You want to keep your wits about you otherwise you may permanently end up in another world! Also in public places opening yourself (which is what happens in meditative states) can leave you open to perverse energies, ie in train stations - that sort of thing. It would be good to have a designated spot in your home, clean and clear and conducive to 'angels landing.'

You are having wonderful experiences. Use them, keep moving through and expand yourself. The more you use your third eye the more experiences you will have. Now is the time to keep your ordinary mind out of your meditation experiences (good luck with that). Bliss will be easy if you can do that.

It's very likely also that you will have experiences of heightened awareness. This is also a factor in an awakened third eye. But like any muscle you have to use it or it will not function as it could.

I'm thrilled to hear of wonderful experiences such as you are having. Thank you for your post.

      Hi Martyn,

As I read through the above comments there are so many people who have had spontaneous openings, and this page has become a place for sharing experiences - yours included.

I asked the same question you did - ie re the brain tumor as I had pulsing in the center of my head. Once I continued to use my third eye it stabilized and was not so strange. I also get high pitched sounds which I can use in meditation - it has a strong involuting effect. By the way, it's not tinnitus, it's a non-physical sound that when experienced feels very physical.

I recommend the Awakening the Third Eye book which has practical and methodical exercises for the third eye. If you can get to a workshop that would help, they are posted on the site where the book is. If not the Meditation Portal to Inner Worlds may be useful as a guide to hone your third eye and make it less gross.

In the beginning there can be many sensations that are quite physical. Buzzing sounds which are more to do with your life force (etheric body), and vibrations. When you use your third eye an awakening occurs in your body of energy. If you can foster it then your experiences of vision - inner and outer can become more acute.

I hope you continue to have amazing experiences Martyn. Thank you again for your post.

Hi jewels, Thanks for letting us express ourselves here with you! I've experienced trying to talk to people about my experiences and they look at me like i'm crazy. Lol! I chose to keep my experiences to myself and talk about it here with you an experience person. I know i've told you about the strange things that I have seen like the tiny atoms that look like shiny dancing joyous little lites that seem to twinkle in the sky. Among that I'm a little curious, cause sometimes when i'm not meditating I see these colors Indigo blue, yellow, and green and i see alot the letter E does this mean anything? Even sometimes when i'm outside i have a habbit of looking at the clouds, I absolutely love to look at the clouds, Its like I can watch them all day long, but at times I can see the letter in the form of a cloud, like you can actually see the letter E. also when I'm in the shower i can see different colors on my bathroom tiles, the reason I ask is because my son and me both of our names begins with E is that anything that I should be concerned or just let it ride. Last and not least, I like to speak to my Guardian Angel and I always ask for a sign of his or her name, do you suppose that is my cue for i guess knowing his or her first initial of my Guardian Angels name? sorry for so many burdens of these questions. Thank you in advance blessings to you always. with Love Elizabeth.

Firstly Elizabeth, those tiny atom-like lights sound like what we call pixels which students have mapped/experienced; And these experiences are both in and out of the meditative state. I personally have experienced blue and red.

You're also not alone with the clouds. They bring a feeling of wonder with their shapes. As a young girl I cloud-gazed a lot which I replaced with star gazing in time. Star gazing by the way is very good for your third eye so I hope you get a chance to do it. Think of it as a cleanser whereby vision and experiences can be sharpened.

The E I'm not aware of. It sounds like something personal to you and perhaps the meaning will become clearer in time. I don't see it as a concern or problem, just something to figure out! I find with these things - drop it and when you least expect it the answer appears.

There is a beautiful poem in the Atlantean Secrets series (a mythological spiritual teaching) where the White Eagle's hymn to his children speaks about how clouds were meant to be looked at from above. It eludes to how we humans are spiritual beings. Your experience of clouds made me think of it.

      Hi

I don't know how to meditate, but

I have been externally massaging my third eye for several days as I find it relaxes me and have started experiencing a pressure that sort of pulses, when I close my eyes I see black, white and grey shapes and if I look to my third eye it appears as a black line in that area, have opened it? I Have always been very aware of my senses and often have vivid dreams that are true, and can see people or sense knowing them from different times....

Sounds like you've stimulated it which has created an activation. If you were to now go further into the shapes and color (even if it is black), meaning focus on that, you may have further experiences.

Is opening the third eye dangerous? I have read many articles stating that opening the third eye is dangerous so it needs some protection (grounding/white light??).

Actually, I am very interested about it and I wish to open it. But I am scared of what the consequences would be and by the way, opening the third eye is something like ghosts?? Just really curious..

Hope for a response from you. Thank you! :)

Jewels 4 years ago from Australia

Hi Laurel, there is nothing dangerous about opening your third eye. Experiences vary and it's often because of lack of awareness that people become frightened. And moreso it's often what people say that becomes the problem, and not your experiences at all. Staying centered is important, but that's important in any day to day activity. It also applies when using your third eye.

You are likely to have a more heightened sense of awareness when you use your third eye. As with any inner work, it pays to be discerning with your vision. In the Awakening the Third Eye book there are extensive practical exercises for energy protection, grounding techniques and cleansing methods also. Additionally, how to prepare your meditation space, taking into account cleanliness etc. The book also speaks about clear vision as opposed to clairvoyant type vision, the later can be applied to those who have no awareness of what they are 'mingling' with. Personally I have been using my third eye for over 12 years and have not had a 'spooky' experience.

If you are unable to get to a workshop, they are by the way held in many countries throughout the world, then I suggest trying the Meditation Portal to Inner Worlds as a good place to begin.

From the Hindu Tantric model, the kundalini is an accumulation of forces in the root-chakra. It is spoken of as a dormant potential life force. Once awakened it is said to give new abilities in the body of energy. Of course these abilities require the knowledge to use them - you need to know how to use the forces. It is the sheer power of the forces of nature, and is related to the lower chakras.

To tap into and use this kundalini force can enable powerful healing in the body. This natural force is like a major spring of well-being. When you feel this nectar the feeling is unmistakable.

Having an active third eye does not however guarantee a kundalini awakening. Some people have spontaneous kundalini experiences but often they are fleeting and not easy to hold or maintain. It is through practice that you learn to use this force to the potential that it has. And it has major potential.

Whilst it is often spoken about in regard to sexual experiences - this is definitely true, there is a sublimation of the sexual energy that is required in order to not be devoured by it. That may sound ominous and to many it is. The intensity can be great, the power that it brings you is even greater. And that needs to be matched by a high level of integrity.

It is something to be welcomed and not suppressed. Don't fear it, find someone who has knowledge and can help you when it does happen.

While exploring my inner world, opening doors to emotions along the way, and being blessed with each one, one by one, i came to a door with my inner child in it. Behind that door and to the right stood a temple. Bright. Lit up. As I admired the temple, my son asked me a question. He needed me to look at something, and didn't realize i was in Heaven. I opened my eyes and looked at the map he held to my face. The map was reversed. I closed my eyes again and looked at the temple. I did not open the door to my inner child and I did not look for a door to the temple. I came back to the outer world, feeling drained. Emotionally. Thoughts?

We expend more energy in being closed. At first glance from what you shared, you had everything in front of you, you only had to open to it. Yet for many, this is the hardest thing to do. The biggest or most painful wounds can be held within the vulnerability of the 'child'. Let the experience unfold for you and you are likely to get more and more clarity on what you were seeing and feeling.

Hi, my third eye started opening after only 3 sessions of meditation. I do silent meditation by myself at hme as there are no groups or classes near me. The past few days I have had the strangest experiences as I start to get into a deep state I all of a sudden feel a tingly sensation, feel like my body is numb and my heart starts to race and I feel anxious. I have never experienced this before and am usually a calm person. Also when I get like this i feel as though my body is asleep but my mind is quite alert. Do you have any idea what could be happening? I have come to really love meditating but this feels so weird and has freaked me out.

Jewels 4 years ago from Australia

Hi Tracy, it could be a few things. What comes to mind is that you are going into a space of stillness and any surface emotions that you have been suppressing, and these are likely to be unconscious, will start coming out. This could explain the anxiety. There is also a fear of the unknown. Do you know how many people have no idea what it is like to be still and actually take note of themselves instead of everything external? These still spaces can be so foreign. But they are foreign until we see them, and feel them and move through them. What also happens in meditation is you start to Open. This is a common experience in meditation - you start to let go. Stresses start to go and this can be scary. You are starting to relax, and again there can be anxiety. Stay as centered as you can while these experiences are happening. Keep breathing normally and just keep going.

There is a model of subtle bodies that I like to use, which splits you up into four pieces - the physical body, the etheric body, the Astral body and the higher Ego (not the little one). When you meditate there is a separation of the Etheric from the Astral - a loosening up This Etheric/Astral interface is where thoughts and emotions hit the life force - our front line to the physical body. It is also where we grasp - grasp emotions and feelings. Letting this layer separate can cause a fear of opening. Try and let it happen. Let me know how you go with this.

      Hi Jewels,

im no expert on any of this stuff, and was seeking advice,i lived a very short sighted life, full of the insecurity's,and worries that people have,i got into writing poetry, and during this period 2 yrs ago,(i was 38),i heard a voice in my head tell me to sit down,i was alarmed, but many incidents objects moving rooms, heard giggeling out loud at one point, electronic toys going off, then came the voice,it told me to sit in a chair and close my eyes, isaid in my head iwas scared, the voice said dont be afraid, you will be ok,you have nothing to fear, soi sat,the crown of my head was tingeling, like fingers pressing from the front to the back of my head,on the top,the voice told me to keep my eyes closed,i didn't i opened one out of curiosity, but the vibration was so strong my eye was flickering,so i closed them,my eye ticked for 2 days or so after, after the tingle stopped i went to the window, looked outside and felt at one with the air,the rocks, the trees, the majesty of even the pigeons flying overhead, then they guided me to research, from paganism i started to satanism to luciferinism,to,freemason,to illuminati to,father creators,to the prime creator, capacity of understanding expanded, along the way i had emotional inbalances, and lessons to learn upto recently, with regard to self,as is the universe ona discovery of self, they have taught me to see dimensionaly, this is why im writing to you, about a yr ago i was laughin watchin a movie talkin to them,it,i could feel but not see,as i looked toward mykitchen in the shadow was a 6ft hooded dense black matter being,i sawit,it was like chillin so relaxed in my company, that it forgot to hide,i saw it and it jipped back into the darkness, they orit has taught me to see dimensionaly,i breathe deep breaaths, with eyes closed then pick a point unfocus my eyes if i see nothing i change point of visual, then stare, ive been seeing whitemisty ether, outside i see little sparks of light jumping liketiny omebas, inside at night i see white ether, then i saw the faces like mini shrunken heads ,like mini skulls but not,the eyes are different, not empty, just very deep set dark eyes,i saw 1 then many poppin like fireworks, then a big span of ether projected and i saw almost an audience of them, ifthey were evil they would have killed me already,i have spent money on survival gear, and other obstacles they have guided me through, what is going on,ipractice seeing dimensionaly every other day,as iget a migrain if i tire myeyes and head out,i know no names or techniques been taught or had no interest in any of this, just that i feel like a square tryin to fit in a circle,i think im bein guided throught this change of age,but i do not know what is going on,only the answer my guts tell me,maybe youcan help, many thanks Jewels.

for me to see dimensionaly i close my eyes, take perhaps 5 deep breaths, open my eyes, choose a point to focus on,and try not to blink too much,i calibrate my eyes, and unfocus them,if i see nothing,i move to another spot to visualise at,i leave my mind blank without thought, after awhile i will see images, white ether swirling around the room, then the faces the other night, its like looking at 1 of those 3d hologram posters that come to life after you stare at it for a few minutes it comes alive, are the faces, the hooded dude been teaching and guiding me,during the day they are black misty ether, but not seen them often,at night they are white mist, during the day i see the white mist, but the spirits are black mist, its like a negative to our light structure,or is it the white mist,is nothing to do with the faces, and the hooded 6ft shadow dude,is nothing to do with any of them,i dont expect you to have all the answers,it would be unreasonable of me,but maybe you can help me make sense of it all.

Hi Wu, there's no doubt your vision has opened. If you look at the first diagram you will see several structures, not just the tunnel between the eyebrows. I feel sensations similar to what you are saying, in the back of the head, also the center of my skull. We are in a time where spontaneous openings are happening so even though this hub is about awakening the third eye primarily, many people can have this happen without instruction.

And as has been expressed by many reading this article, it has become a place for validation of experiences. When we open ourselves to this level of vision, all sorts of experiences can happen - as is your case. It takes a discipline to discern what layers you are tapping into. Rule of thumb is always to go for the highest, the spaces with the most integrity. This is what takes discernment. In some cases it takes guidance. I'm lucky in this regard as I've trained in a school of meditation and am around people having similar experiences. We have a way of mapping these spaces which has broadened my scope of consciousness considerably.

It would be easy to make sweeping statements about what you are seeing. I'd prefer however, to speak to you and get more clarity. If you wish, please send a personal message via hubpages and see if I can help you further.

As the comments section of this article has grown in proportions I have started a group Jewels on Facebook. In order to get into this group and share your third eye experiences you need to befriend me first and I can add you. This is a great opportunity to speak to other people who are having awakenings, flarings etc. Lots of etcs! Please go to my profile here at hubpages where there is a link to my Facebook profile page.

We are in a period of time when many people are having flarings and experiences they have no language for. This article became a place for that, and now the group is an extension of this article. It's new so you may be the first to share.

Kukurio, Sounds like you are 'hooked in' or 'hooked up!' In time the imprint of the eye may disappear but the heightened awareness hopefully remains. That's a major plus to awakening the third eye and using it. Good news - enjoy the ride!

Good morning Jewels! I wanted to ask you as i meditate i become like kind of numb like my hands, I don't feel them as much and like my legs feel a little numb too, my head begins to feel some strong kind of vibrations and when i open my eyes it's like i can almost see the color yellow vividly and the of kind of images in like an electric kind of blue, then i feel like its very warm. Is this part of opening my third eye? these sensations that i feel it's ok to feel this way? one more thing Jewels there are days that I am not meditating at all and then i could be at work or laying down on my bed when all of a sudden I see a big kind of square in a dark blue and it keeps distracting me from what ever i'm doing! what is that? sorry for so many questions! With Love Elizabeth.

lara, I'm not sure if you are physically doing this while meditating. If this is the case you are definitely not in stillness! :). I'd suggest you stay more centered in yourself, use the third eye as a focus point. It feels like you are being 'distracted' so it is something to source. If your experience is an inner one, it's like space travelling, and into what is something you need to look at. In early stages of your meditation regime it is common to have differing experiences however, when you become more adept it is centering and integrity you are looking for.

Hi Elizabeth, There is numb and there is cutting off circulation. The cutting off of circulation is common and for many it hurts - one of the perils of meditation. Yoga postures, stretching and forging your meditation posture will help with this. Now if you are losing sensations of your body - fantastic! In meditation, as with sleep your Astral body (thoughts and emotions) separate (not completely) from your physical body, or the etheric body. This allows the etheric body freedom and this in itself is why meditation is a great healer. It is this also that is being tested and proven beneficial in the health of the brain.

Losing sensation of the body parts is heading towards the state of bliss, one of those wonderful meditation spaces we all seek. It's like you don't have a body - yeah! The vibrations in the head are common. This happens as you forge your subtle bodies (inner vision structures - third eye etc). Again there is a separation taking place physically. The third eye is like a muscle. The more you use it the more it becomes like a limb. Paradoxically however, eventually the sensations will become very subtle, less vibration. This is because of a stabilizing. Some people experience headaches and nausea in the early stages of their third eye experiences. This is usually because there is a letting go happening between the interface of the etheric and astral bodies.

Your 'out of meditation' experiences - your vision is opening and for some people this is an experience. Geometric shapes, vibrant colors. Interestingly, if you meditate at the same time each day and you miss a few days, at the same time you would normally meditate, you feel as if the space has landed. You get a pull to sit. This is common in the practice of Yoga Nidra, in our school of meditation we call it Night Practice where we go through systematic letting go in the body parts. It's a training for Astral Travelling among other things. If you do this practice daily and then miss it you will feel the space very tangibly in the supermarket or wherever you happen to be.

If the colors are distracting, use your third eye to center yourself more into your body. Paradoxically the third eye takes you inward which appears outward. However, you can also use your third eye for focused practices. So stay centered. If you are laying on your bed and this happens, go into the space and see more - be an adventurer but keep a sense of yourself at the same time.

I've been practicing this for a while, maybe you an help me with something, no matter what i'm focusing on, i always see a baby girl, this has just started happening, shes always the same one same features, usually asleep, the other day she was a little older, because the spirit felt the same, i knew it was her, what could that be? i had reiki done and he said he saw a baby and not in the metaphysical sense, so he seems to be picking something up too. Any advice or insight is appreciated. Thanks so much

If it's not in a metaphysical sense, then perhaps it's premonitory, or a reflection of yourself at some level. These questions don't have a clear answer in many instances. In fact, perhaps you need to ask the question in the space - 'what is this?' Let the experiences come, let them go. If something transpires then so be it. It pays to have a non-attaching attitude to these experiences otherwise you will remain in the mind and not get the major benefits from your meditation.

I have been meditating since July 2012 and have read this with interest.

I awoke during the early hours this morning with a desire to write a summary of my personal experience of psyhic development during meditation.

Stage 1, Going through a series of meditation exercises and actually attaining deep meditation, various coloured lights, stars and shapes begin to appear sometimes only lasting for a period of a few seconds appear only on the left-hand side of the internal vision.

Stage 2, Later, the ‘Blue Pearl’, a fuzzy blue ball appears, electric blue on the outside, dark blue, with turquoise inner and right in the centre a tiny white star. This drifts around in and out of vision disappearing and re-appearing. I believe this is your inner self.

Stage 3, By concentrating on the Blue Pearl it will eventually stabilise to stay within the centre of your vision. When lots of energy is present, flecks of purple/indigo can be seen. The Orb expands and contracts. Starting to get pictures and slideshows (usually in black and white) too fast to take in as the energy is set at a higher frequency than you can absorb at this time. Images and lights can now be seen on the right of the vision.

Stage 4, The exciting part! The ‘Opening of the Third Eye’. The Blue Pearl eventually expands into your mind, the inner vision turns blue and for a while you feel out of control but ecstatic and at the same time very emotional. In my case this happened during an ‘Open Circle’ meeting. Lots and lots of electric indigo and blue flecks fly around franticly, I am now always encircled by a globe of electric blue flecks with eyes either open or closed.

Stage 5, At this time during meditation or prayer the Blue Pearl appears instantly. Now and then you begin to receive pictures in colour and messages . More and more orange or gold begins to enter the inner mind as the frequency increases. I saw a large Eye with light blue iris in vivid detail for a few seconds

Stage 6, The Blue Pearl now only appears for a short time before changing into blue or purple clouds constantly moving around and images readily appear. This is the last barrier between the Earth Plane and the Spirit Plane. You are almost ready.

      Stage 7,

Fantastic you are having these experiences and thank you for sharing.

You may want to change the you to I, as these were your experiences. The purple space is a common node to reach, given the name Intermediary Worlds. In sanskrit it corresponds to the Bhuvar-loka. The stunning blue is one of a myriad of astral spaces seen in meditation, glorious when seen.

I hope you have much success with your practices.

With practice it becomes easier to see images. Meditation and using the third eye broadens vision and it can be different for different people. Some people see vivid colors, some only black or purple, some see images, some do not, or it takes a very yin approach in order to get to some spaces. Expect the unexpected and be aware that the mind will prevent you from opening if you are fixed on a particular way vision should be.

I just just concentrate at third eye, without any light, candle etc. Anything else required to progress further............ :)

Thanks for posting Romo. Keep your focus but make it a light focus. We can get our mind too involved in the process and grasp the third eye structure - this happens just by the mind wanting to do it right! Have a peripheral awareness of this in your meditation practice, it may help you to move through into a more light space of levity.

If you like have a view of the video as it will guide you in your practice and help with the process.

People have a lot of experiences when meditating. The rule of thumb is to let the visions come, let them go. As you've mentioned above drugs and meditation are not a good mix particularly as negative experiences are common. You want to be able to let go of the mind and be in a space of stillness, not be overtaken by delusions and negative forces which has been your experience from what you have said. When your body is becomes cleaner the longer you are off drugs, the more beneficial your meditations will appear and the more energetic benefits you will get. Enjoy your peaceful experiences..

Hi Sivas, thank you for your comment. Keep going with the focus on the tingling and let it expand. Don't grasp the mind onto the experience. Be as 'yin' as you can - so don't try to go anywhere except more into stillness and silence. Watch for colors, sensations, vibrations and move through the experiences toward more stillness. the mind will try and grasp and make sense of what's happening. Let that go otherwise it will make the meditation more difficult. To help you further watch the video for a deep well guided practice.

      Hello,

I've been reading about the third eye an am interested, although from what people have said it also turns me away. I've read that people can see things for what they "really" are, like shadows are actual entities and able to see things in earth that weren't there before. Also they said that they lost interest in a lot of things like girlfriend, there's auras around people and it's all permanent.

I don't believe in spiritual or anything religious so to me this all sounds fake. But if that stuff is true I'll pass...

All that aside, I don't know if it would be possible for me to even try that right now, I have an anxiety disorder so my main thing besides tension is conscious breathing. Every moment I get I try to control my breathing, if I'm not doing that I'm always focusing on it.

I tried to stare into the black with my eyes closed before and noticed I kept dozing off and my eyes would glaze over kinda. I would get one limb separation and warmth but it's always ruined by my conscious breathing, like last night. I couldn't feel my heart beat, rising of the chest or me breathing at all, I really enjoyed that moment buy it scared my brain and guess it thought I was going to die or something.

Does third eye meditation help with anxiety, tension, or just enhancing life?

      Any help is appreciated.

      Thanks a lot! :)

Hello Sarah. There are many and varied experiences using the third eye once it's open and I too have heard stories that would at first make you wonder if you want it. Personally I've not had scary experiences but I do know people who have. When doing work using the third eye it helps to know how to navigate using it and that requires a methodical set of teachings to go with it. It's like anything - you buy a sports car you had better know how to drive it. If you take no part in the driving then things get out of control. Don't believe everything you hear is going to happen to you, have your own experiences.

As to your personal condition - it's certainly not a good idea to give blanket answers. I don't know you, nor do I know the circumstances you've experienced that have led to your anxiety. Meditation does help with managing stress, anxiety and depression but the 'cure' comes from sourcing what the core problem is that is causing it. I have done a lot of Inner work that gives clarity and gets to the bottom of the problem, then learn to navigate differently through life. And this is done via a therapy known as Inner Space Techniques. So that along with meditation has changed my life dramatically. The Portal to Inner Worlds may be a good place for you to start.

Look for sensations - a physical pressure, tingling and the appearance of lights and colors. Try not to grasp onto the experience. Let it flow. The physical sensations will change the more the experience flows and the more you use it.

Hi jewels, I came across your site and was wondering if you could provide some clarity. I have recently been exploring the idea of opening my third eye"again". As a child I experienced things that made me afraid so I blocked such things out and in time stopped experiencing" things" but over the years I always have the feeling that I need to reconnect. Over the last couple months everything I see, hear,or experience keeps pulling me towards light worker and opening third eye. So I tried a couple weeks ago, nothing. But just a couple days ago I have a very strange dream that still shakes me. I saw an eye so magnificent I stared at it it stared at me. Then it turned bright white light in the center and began a suction inward. It was so frighten and begged myself to wake up everything in me said do not go into that light. Any help would be helpful. I feel real confused.all these coincidences and mention of lightworkers

Wow. I have been searching for months on the internet for answers to recent experiences I have had whilst meditating and yours is by far the most helpful and easily explained. I have just read and liked your facebook page. I started meditating about 6 months ago when I noticed a little blue light following me about, I read that it may be my spirit guide and to try communicating with it by meditation so I gave it a go. I dont really know how to meditate properly, I just sit down, close my eyes and look into the darkness, but almost immediately I was seeing what looked like the galaxy with white, red and blue stars, images of peoples faces forming, symbols and numbers and also writing in italic but it is too faraway to read, tunnels with lights at the end, an eye that pulsates with colours of blue, violet, green, orange, red and yellow, sometimes it feels like millions of bugs are crawling on my head whilst meditating. This is as far as I can get though, I am trying to go down the tunnel that appears but as soon as I try it dissapears. What do I do now? Many thanks.

Hi Gayler, wonderful you have added to the myriad of experiences fellow travelers are having. This article has become very helpful as you indicated.

As regards your 'trying' to go down the tunnel.........trying is a problem with meditators because once you start trying your ordinary mind has come into the process and it cuts off the movement and takes you out of the experience. Being works better and letting the process unfold. Frustrating as this may sound, it works! There is the saying "let yourself be meditated." Keep going with the experiences, let them come and let them go. Spaces will expand and you will become familiar with the 'flavor' of those spaces the more you travel. Try not to make sense of them - this is the ordinary mind again. You want to find a sense of yourself in the experience, a state of being, stillness, centerdness etc. More will unfold the more you practice. Enjoy!

Hi, I am wondering about my meditation experiences I have been having recently but I feel I should tell you a little bit about my background first. I am a recovering cross addict, I am just 6 weeks out of rehabilitation that lasted 5 months. In rehab I was taught about meditation and higher powers. I use meditation now twice daily to clear out my head, it helps with my sobriety. My higher power is a friend who has passed away. Normally my meditations show visions of a wooded area, butterflies, nature, birds etc. the past 3 out of 4 meditations were very disturbing. I myself have been having difficulty in staying sober recently so I made sure to meditate as I wasn't doing it constantly. In the first vision I was given two options, there was a vision of a little girl whom I knew was mine in the future, she was really happy and had my fiancés eyes the other thing I was shown in the same meditation was a vision of me dead on the side of the road. My higher power was shouting at me telling me this was going to happen if I relapsed.

I then meditated the next morning in which I saw the same little girl again but she seemed further away, my higher power then showed me my own funeral. I could hear the priest giving the mass and I could see my dead body. As I was shown this my higher power was shouting once again but he seemed far away, I found it hard to hear what he was saying but I got the clear message that once again I had a choice, I hadn't much time to change my recovery but there was still hope.

I again meditated in the evening and it was normal visions again - no warnings, just peaceful bliss of nature.

I meditated this morning and I had strange visions again, my higher power was showing me what it would be like if I relapsed. I could feel the despair and hopelessness of losing everyone I loved. In my vision I was walking on a main road and death felt like it would be a relief from the emotional pain I was feeling. I saw a car coming towards me, it was a blue car, I saw it hit me and then I felt the relief that it was over. the vision felt like time was fast-forwarded. I got the impression that I don't know the driver of the car but with time our lives were to cross over and that was the point that it crosses at. My higher power was repeating over and over that I had to change.

I honestly feel like I am going nuts, I know I cant deny these visions, I saw them and felt what it was like. I know that I did not influence these visions to reoccur, I made sure my brain was empty of thoughts and relaxed. Can someone help me explain what is going on here please? Is my life in real danger?

I would be so grateful if someone could help me.

Sorry the post was so long.

Hi Gerard, Sharing your experiences are so welcome..........and NO you are not going nuts. I invite you to connect via Facebook and send a personal message if you like. The details are on my profile. For some reason you can no longer do this via hubpages. I am happy to discuss your experiences and share some of my own and those of acquaintances one on one.

The message you are receiving is very clear and I don't think you need clarity on that front. The fact you are having the experience, regardless of the content, shows an opening you have that allows the experience. I dare say you've had this for quite awhile and your attraction to addictive substances could have been a way of coping with a 'loss' of something you know to be more ideal than the world you have found yourself in.

I look forward to speaking to you and answering your queries.

The pressure could be several things. In the tunnel It's often caused by a grasping, and/or perhaps intense thoughts. You'd have to become aware of what you do physically when you meditate. Are you fully relaxed? Are you holding on in that area? But having said that, it's common for there to be energetic 'debris' in the tunnel of the eye in the beginning. Persistence with no grasping can help. I suggest you go through the guided meditation. Tingling and pressure are normal experiences. Stay in a space of stillness and release any grasping and let your meditations flow.

Meditating to get rid of pain is not easy. I'm assuming you are talking about a different pain? A physical pain other than in the forehead? Meditation can intensify the pain and it's not easy to release it if you are not disciplined in going into it and releasing. And sometimes the pain is something other than emotion. I can't advise you here as I'm not aware of which category of pain this is. My answer above is referring to third eye sensations.

If you have just begun a meditation practice it may take time for certain layers of vision to open. Having said that you may never see the same as what someone else sees. Comparing can be thwart with dangers because your mind is continually activated in a competition! 'Am I doing it right' is the bane of meditators in the beginning. Have your own experiences - beyond the grasping ordinary mind. Use your meditation to become centered, be within yourself and not externalized by the senses. Quieten the mind and just BE. If you do that firstly you are doing very well. Let the sensations come as far as pressure. In time this will soften considerably. You know, some people feel auras but don't see them. Third eye activation can present you with different levels of vision, including sensing, inner sounds, seeing and even knowing.

When in the world and doing your normal day to day activities - BE PRESENT. This means using your mind. Do not meditate while using the car. Do not be out of your mind when crossing the street. When interacting with people, be with them. So yes, use your mind and use it well. You know, all the spiritual teachers I know, and there are a lot of good ones in the world...........they are very intelligent. They use their mind to learn and learn and learn. Knowledge is power and to have this you must use your mind. It's just that chitta you want to avoid. So in short - when you are meditating - meditate. When you are not meditating - be present and think - but not in the chitta way.

Spirit guides or presences are around all the time. You connect with them by being open and receptive. You do not need to only meditate to feel them. When meditating, this could be a good way to get used to feeling them - use your senses, a heightened level of feeling and see what you can 'see.' Vision is not only using the seeing state, it is the peripheral senses too. What is the space like when you meditate? Can you sense something there? Is there levity? Does the space feel light? Does the space feel full? Have a peripheral awareness. These are questions you can ask yourself in the space. You may want to pay particular attention to the space in which your meditation is done. Ask the question "would an angel land in this room?" Make it beautiful, always must be clean and clear of clutter. Have a dedicated space and you will notice a marked difference between that space and say your office or kitchen for example. It's a good question; in time you will feel them. And - they change!

The sensations between the forehead will soften and in most cases you won't feel the pressure. From time to time it may arise, but mainly it will cease to be felt as pressure. You will know that you are using it without the feelings.. There is a body of knowledge known as Subtle Bodies, the third eye tunnel is one such subtle body that is forged like a muscle the more you use it. There are other structures that are used in meditation and vision that can be forged with awareness and use. This is a huge topic, one which I will not cover here. So you may, in time, feel sensations elsewhere, say in the center of your head and also above it. Something to look forward to.

Pressure, tingling, lights, colors are indicators. The third eye is a tool, a gate inward. A tool to assist with centeredness, There may be preconceived ideas of what you are wanting to happen which will impede your practices. You will stay in the same place if you grasp hold of the pressure. Watch the video and see if you can't proceed further.

Hi Ash, welcome to the hub and thanks for your input. There are some experiences I've never been able to get again, sadly. There is not a definite yes or no to your question. It can depend on you, the seer. Ask is maybe a good way, even though that sounds lame, there is the standpoint of 'let it be done for you' that can be applied to a lot of experiences. Have the aspiration, but not the grasping. But you can bet that if you've had one blue pearl experience, there will be more.

Even spiritual masters. They eventually realized that drugs were limiting their experiences - glad they were the experimenters though, unfortunately some don't get off the addiction.

Hello SS, it sounds like you are progressing nicely. Seeing colors is not for everyone_seriously I don't get the spectrum of colors other meditators do. At first I was disappointed and it's common for people to say "hey, why don't I see what they are seeing." It's not that you are doing anything wrong. My color spectrum is purple, black and different shades of gold and i don't always get this. Keep going as you are, your state of calm and centredness is a primary goal.

This all comes under the banner of vision, they are your experiences. As to the significance, you'd have to tune in further to find a sense of presence. There may or may not be anything to it. It's what's behind what you see that becomes significant. Mapping consciousness is a long term pursuit as you can understand. So the questions to ask as these experiences are happening, is what am I feeling here? What is in the space? Vision on it's own has little meaning until you see further. Keep opening.

Hi i know that this question shouldnt be placed here but u seem to know allot of spiritual stuff, so here it goes: why im not energetic at all, even if my zodiac is sagitarius, my element is fire and im born on dog years all of this signs says i should be energetic and spiritual. I think i am preety spiritual dude, but in energetic way im not, i really want to be energetic. Week ago i opened/cleard my chakras now whe meditating i feel energy flow and im still not energetic. I did used marihuana about 6-7 years not much 1-2grams in month im not uaing it about a mounth, so i guess thats not a problem of my being energetic. So maybe its cuz i masturbate from about 10 years old, but i did stop it about 2 weeks ago, but for about 1-3 months i didnt let myself ejaculate, so i dont know i think masturbation too doesnt have anything to do with me not being energetic. So what could it effect more ? Please help me. Also maybe my spirit guid knows whats going on, but sadly i dont know how to connect, talk with him or see him so maybe u know how icould do that?

Hi Mugen, You need to define what you mean by energetic. Are you saying you lack stamina? If this is the case then there are a lot of things to look for like your diet and genetics, and whether you exercise and therefore pump energy through your body. Marihuana is not a stimulant so that could have been a problem and it can take years to get it out of your system. Ejaculation for men depletes energy even though there is a massive surge of energy that goes with it. I would have to look at your astro chart as a whole to see what forces are at play with you. This is better done if you can contact me privately via FB, the link is on my profile page. Lots to see.

I see two purple circles on each eye with them close when meditating. The circles come from a small to big in sides and they rotate, the one on the right clockwise and the left counter clockwise. They have a very intense purple color and they both have a golden ring around them. when I see this am starting to see very complex geometric patterns, specially some like the star of David, but with more complex texture and pattern on it. I also see a rotating face in the middle of the vision with all this, but the face have no eyes, nose, or mouth, is just a 3D face rotating.

All this happens when meditating. for the past two years I have the pressure in my forhead as well the tingling sensation. A year ago I was in a seminar and my forhead (third eye) was on fire. What I mean by fire am saying that I felt like if someone was putting a torch on that area from inside to outside. This was very painfull, I felt that one more second and i was ready to run to the bathroom to put water on it, and I was not meditating, I was completetly awake.

Any comments on this is very much appretiate.

      Thank you.

Hi there, Your experience of intense purple color with golden rings is very similar to my own. When you proceed toward the geometry and the face, see if you can get a feel for presence. You are effectively proceeding through spaces. The face could represent a structure and within this is likely to be knowhow. For you - sense it and expand into it.

Your burning fire experience can be several things. The pain is physical and is likely a compression of thoughts that represent blockages in the third eye tunnel. The burning may have been an attempt to push through those blockages into a clearer state of vision. There is an entire context of work involving verticality which includes the ability to think above the head not within it. It is covered in part in the book Awakening the Third Eye by Samuel Sagan. The third eye structure can be like a precursor to other structures of vision which I am sensing you are getting access to with your professional work, or seminar experiences. These structures become very tangible physically the more you use them, like flexing a muscle. If you would like some more clarity or discussion on your own experiences please send a message to me via the FB link on my profile page.

Thank you Jewel for your kind words,

All started with that experience of the burning feeling in the third eye area. Back then I email a friend and I was told that OSHO talks about this and he clearly says that this happends to I lot of people in India whenever the third eye is going to open. All I can tell you is that I felt like if someone was putting a lighten candle in my forhead, I was getting burnt and was just sitting like many others washing the seminar, without thinking about it.

For the past time I get 11:11, 444, 222, 333, and so on all the time. I feel that my awarness is much higher. The other night when doing meditation I fall sleep because I was tired, but when I woke up I saw with my eyes close like a complex city with a lots of streets, but there was not people.

What appears to be people were millions of dots runing from one place to another, it was like seeing millions of atoms (sub-atomic particles) and when I was getting closer to see it desapear quickly on me.

Question; What is FB link on your profile page? How do I do this? Do I have to register?

Thank you for your time and comments,

      Jesus.

I am the commenter from above and have something else to report. While using binaural beats I got a flash of a scenario in my third eye but it wasn't like a dream. It lasted a split second but it felt as if I knew a whole sequence of events had happened in this split second. I had three of these flashes during three separate third eye meditations, one was a 'vision' of me? floating in the black starry sky and I was using a white/gold strand of light which extended from my hands to pull this wooden or brown face that was floating in the sky towards me. The face was 'alive' and was smiling and someone was watching me from the ground floor in this vision. It wasnt an OBE as I never left my body I was unconscious of my physical self for a split second while I had this vision and then I flipped back to my physical body. I have no clue what these visions are

Hi Ashkeogh. There are two types of travelling - Space travelling and Astral travelling. Astral is when you leave your body and are conscious that you have left your body - OBE. Space travelling is when you are in your body and know it but lose reference to it and go into spaces. They are as real as watching TV though you feel you are inside the TV. And it's not imagination, there is a realness to it and you can feel presence in it. The black starry sky is an experience I've had, though I couldn't replicate it (sadly).

With faces and presences - you are in realms that are beyond the normal mind (OMC = ordinary mental consciousness). Remember as a rule of thumb that coming back from these experiences you want to make them rational. Not easy because many times there are no words to describe what you see. You go out of your ordinary mind, there is an observer and you are having an experience but references are difficult. You can understand why doubt often creeps in as to whether these experiences or presences are real. Explaining them to someone often leads to ridicule.

So to presences - get a sense of feeling that goes with them. They come in many shapes and forms, our mind has difficulty with this. Be open and see what they have to show you. Retain a sense of yourself in the space and integrity. You may find some are not in your best interests.

Ash if you want your experiences to be more private please leave a message on my FB page. The link is on my profile page.

At the moment I have loads of spare time so I want to attempt to come out of body using Robert Bruces techniques and finally open my third eye permanently. I dont believe these are OBEs though more so visions as you say...watching a tv but in it at the same time. I am really interested in this 'HD tv' behind your eyelids concept I am reading about aswell.

      Hi Jewels

I've been reading the comments here with much interest. I've been meditating for 11 days now (in the attempt to open my third eye) and I think I've opened it, but not entirely sure. I've made a diary of my experiences and would appreciate any feedback and if you think I need to concentrate on a more specific area or not.

The reason for doing this is purely to expand my knowledge of the world in which I live and if possible, to help others through my experiences. I'm a bit at loss with the world; it can be grey at times with so much violence, lack of empathy & corruption. Activating the third eye would, for me, be a way of seeking the truth & a bit of escapism from the norm.

Day 1 Heavy pressure in head & a distinct throbbing. Feeling of another presence in room with me. A spray of white dots opening and closing. An expanding tunnel with a square symbol and triangle joined together. On opening eyes, could see both the room and the spray of white which also had darker shades surrounding it. Unusual that this brought tears momentarily to my eyes with a slight feeling of sadness. Most notably, I felt a distinct vibration in my head.

This is all new to me. I haven't really thought much about the dark and the possibilities that there could be other entities or planes of existence out there so this was quite an odd and interesting first attempt.

Day 2 No more throbbing but heavy pressure remaining in forehead. More display of white dots with swirling forms. On a side-note, while this is happening, I've been feeling extra hot in bed to the point of being rather uncomfortable. Also noticed I've been experiencing a few aches in the top left corner of my chest.

Day 3 Waking hours I've noticed colours are more pronounced and prominent. Also, a sort of hazy, white aura will appear around objects while looking around, like a brief imprint. The ache in my chest is still there. Conducting some research I believe this may be to do with the different chakras in the body. The heart chakra may not be as balanced as I first expected. I've played some heart chakra balancing music I've found online and concentrated on that area during the day.

Day 4 Chest is much better today. No aches. In general I feel quite comfortable with the experimentation and more optimistic that there is something else out there, other than the material world. During this session, I drifted off into sleep a few times, but only briefly. I did see two flashes of brightly coloured landscapes during these lapses but can remember no specific details about them. Again, I was uncomfortably hot in bed.

Day 5 Rather tired this evening after my early awakenings from the other few nights so I decided to go straight to sleep. I was awakened in the early hours again, this time in a dream state with a male voice within the dream telling me that if I wanted to reach enlightenment I had to continue with my meditations. Found this rather odd but it certainly woke me up and I experimented a bit more, drifting in and out of sleep during the process. Another dream phase added another male voice saying that I would be sent to the Nether in my next life to live the life of a hermit; found this most unusual but I digress, these were probably dreams - there was no visual element to it, purely a voice. In hindsight, living the life of a hermit certainly wouldn't bother me - although, I'm not sure I'd fancy doing it in the nether; definitely not a guy who enjoys heat - much prefer the cold.

During these moments of sleep I dreamt of strange flying beasts but the recollection is hazy and I don't remember much about them. I did notice one unusual occurrence during my relaxation - the swirling dots and forms that continue to remain prominent during the meditations started to change into a long aisle similar to that of a church. It moved me down the aisle towards an altar with a depiction of two hands back to back with an eye between them. Other than that, nothing exceptional to note this evening.

I must make a note here that these visualisations are certainly not crystal clear. They are defined around specks of white dots and don't last for long amongst the swirling forms.

Day 6 I did feel the heavy pressure in my head again and I jolted awake a few times on drifting to sleep. The spray of white dots did return and they continued to twist into unusual patterns ; the most unusual being what looked like ramparts. But, there seemed to be no meaning to its randomness and I'm quite at loss as to what I'm seeing and I not even certain if this is a spiritual journey or if I'm just seeing retinal blood vessel reflections. On the subject of the latter, I would expect to see more colour.

Will be interesting to see what the affect of consuming alcohol has on these evening meditations as I'm going out tonight to partake in a few ales.

Day 7 Alcohol certainly didn't help me meditate - I think I was asleep within seconds of my head hitting the pillow, despite my attempts to utilise my third eye. However, I was jolted awake at 3am (the usual time I get stirred from my slumber since starting out on this experimentation) and decided to try and focus on the meditation. Although nothing spectacular happened, I did see the most graphic display of twisting shapes and spray of white specks. This time I was going at full speed through this twisting tunnel but on reaching the end jolted awake from my meditation - so goodness knows what was at the end. A little at a time. I do have a bit of a tender head this morning; I'm assuming this is from the alcohol and not the meditation.

Day 8 Slept through. Couldn't even meditate without falling asleep; the early morning awakenings obviously taking their physical toll.

Day 9 An extremely long meditation - couldn't sleep, even though I was tired. Eventually, the whole room was shrouded in pale white with only the darkness above and to the two sides of me. Definitely the most visual display of flashing and twisting imagery I have experienced yet, though still no visions filled with colour that some people seem to see when setting out on this path. I did see one image of a triangle with the eye inside. The eye is now always there when I concentrate on it. It is always in front of me hovering there in the gloom although there is no colour and its outline is white. It even blinks from time to time. Very odd experience; unusually, I don't feel the slightest bit of panic or fear, just comfort. My right ear also made a lot of popping sounds tonight; perhaps attempting to tune into another channel / dimension? Interestingly, I also heard whispering or low talking - this wasn't clear and I couldn't make out what was being said. I'm hoping that in time this will become clearer. Overall, an interesting evening and I feel closer to the third eye than ever before. From a logical perspective, if this is purely a trick of the mind, I see no harm in it if it makes me feel better in life. On a side-note, I did feel the presence of something in the room with me. Also felt something touch my hair.

Day 10 Swirling black with white dots again - this time more lilac shapes drifting from time to time like spirits flying through the sky, twisting here and there. A few times I opened my eyes during the meditation and noticed an unnatural darkness behind and above my head; not sure if this is just the natural shades of the room or an opening to another dimension (well you have to remain open-minded). The rest of the room was still in darkness but a softer shade.

Day 11 Nothing different to report other than a tingling sensation twice across my entire body. Shapes and dots continue. Some more slight ear popping but not as significant as earlier meditations. Awoken with a jolt at 3am. Not sure the other realms like me sleeping too long. Head also feels heavy in the centre and on the sides at certain points but I've experienced this before.

I hope you have time to read this and find it encouraging. Its difficult sometimes being alone and experiencing these things without discussion.

      Much kudos your way.

Hi there, thanks for your comments. Third eye awakening brings many and varied experiences, including heightened awareness, more vibrant vision - ie colors, sensations and expanded vision. It's not a one size fits all proposition. As you have experienced, alcohol is not a friend of subtle bodies, third eye structures being a subtle body (non-physical/fluid dimensional - ie it has dimension (you can feel it) but is not physical.) It's your choice of course, but many ardent meditators stop drinking through lack of interest and a preference to maintain the stillness that comes from an alcohol free body.

Goodluck with your experiences. If you have further comments that you would like to discuss please send a private message via my Facebook page as per my profile.

      Hi Jewels. Thanks for responding.

Yes, alcohol doesn't really help but I'm not a big drinker. Just a few drinkies twice a month.

Other than that, my experiences have been wonderful so far. Nothing life changing but certainly a new outlook on all that is and possibilities. Just the feeling of delightful pressure around my head at odd intervals during the day makes it all worthwhile. A gentle reminder that my brain is being rewired.

My next step is to try to astral project. I've tried a few times and get to the point where my head is heavy with energy and my body is limp but I can't seem to release myself into the astral. I'm certainly not trying too hard. I'm fairly relaxed about it and hope that someday it will happen but if you have any tips for me at that specific point, would be appreciated.

      Much thanks.

Astral travelling, even though I say it's easy in this hub I wrote, it's actually a discipline of letting go and riding an interface between sleep and being awake, and remaining conscious. http://jewels.hubpages.com/hub/Astral_Travelling_i... Not easy in practice, and the more 'astral' the world is the more difficult it is for people to do it.

      Hi Jewels,

I have recently started meditating using audio clip that helps in third eye meditation, i am having the pressure feeling between my eyebrows from day 1, [I have tried meditating from my teenage(which was once in a while) not completely immersed, but had quite good experiences once or twice]. Its almost three days that I have been listening to this sound clip and meditating for almost one hour. Its giving me a great feeling I can feel the pressure between my eyebrows throughout the day, but from yesterday I am having some sort of negative feelings, I am for some reason feeling that someone is watching me, something like a negative energy, I am not sure of this, I used to fear of dark places during my childhood, but from yesterday I have got this feeling again, I am not sure what is happening. I don't want to stop what I am doing , your tips and guidance in this regards will be very helpful.

Hello and thank you for your comments. Pleased your third eye opening is going well. I can't tell what the presence is you are experiencing without being there and seeing for myself. If you used to have these fears it's possibly you are attracting it in, and as your senses are more acute, you are feeling it more. A few things to check - the room you are in may need some attention. Is it really clean? Ask the question "would an angel land in here?" Secondly, your own energy may need some reinforcement. When doing your practice make sure you are very centered and your focus is on you and not being pulled out by something else - like this presence. You will get to know if something is positive, or in your case you are sensing the opposite. Stay centered and energetically push that out. If you follow the guided meditation on this hub and stay as centered as you can you may find you are 'guided into a more connected and positive space.'

If you need to discuss more please find the personal FB link on my hubpages profile page and send a personal more private message.

Hi Jewels! When I was a little girl, I could always see thing whenever I close my eyes. In my teenage years I could see more frequently and it did scare me. I see lots of places I''ve never been And sometime ghost too. Even if I have the power to see thing I tend to avoid them in my teens years but recently I want to know more about my future. Im already 28 And single. Recently whenever I meditate I'll close my eyes and Recently I'll ask my guide to show me my future Husband . And somehow I keep seeing the same man? Does it mean it will be my future husband. or it just my imagination ? I heard if you think too much your brain will show you the pic you wanted to see. Not sure whether is my imagination or is I'm really seeing my future husband. i wanna heard you though on that. Thanks P.s the puncture i see are quite clear.

It's a shame that you closed off, or tried to close off the gift you have. Hopefully you will learn to use it without the fear attached to it. The unknown can be difficult to fathom sometimes.

Being 28, in astrological terms this is your Saturn return you are entering. It's a time of asking many questions about where you stand in the world, what you want to do - be that career or starting a family.. Its really the time of becoming an adult and making your mark on the world. As for whether your vision is your future husband - I would not advise one way or the other on this. Nothing is definite. Keep moving forward and engage in life and he will walk into it.

I have been listening to Kelly Howell subliminal messages for over a year. I started using for just stress in life and also for my jobs I am ADD and the line of work I am in require class room training on each job I had the subliminal helped since I couldn't take the meds hard for me to focus. And I found meditation was hard to do such as quietness of the mind but I got a little better at it. I wished I had known about subliminal and meditating when I was married for 13 yrs a very hard time with that marriage. Last year off and on I would have a slight pain on side of forehead or a little pressure on center of forehead. Nausea off and on and 2 mos ago sounded like construction going on in one of my ears. And 4 days ago I experimented and tried to put energy in my body and laid still focusing on my right hand and imaged a screen being pulled down with force all the way from head to feet since then felt a slight throb in solar plexus chakra and palpitations in heart chakra and a throbbing, pulsating hard in the Sacral chakra with my reproduction organs. Can you tell me what you think on that, what is going on?

Hi Jewels again. On the kundalini and opening third eye I am interested but also uncertain I am in mid sixty and I wouldn't want be acting weird around co workers or my granddaughter. Can you give some advice on those two subjects. Like how to stabilizing and manage energy and requiring the knowledge and abilities and how to use the force. I have research many sites and it shows forced or accidentally bringing kundalini about could be very hard on us westerners that it should come about naturally. Your Site is the best one I ever seen and you explain so well, I can not tell you how many hours I research on these subjects.

I am not aware of the works of Kelly Howell so can't comment in relation to her.

When people begin to meditate and go deeply into their own self it is common to experience energy movements. As you described pulpitations or pulsating is a common experience. With meditation you are opening your energy centers and this can be the result. If you can, stay as still as you can and let the openings happen - stillness can work in these instances. If they get too strong and you feel you cannot handle them, then perhaps cease your practice for awhile.

Stabilizing energy is a major topic and I can't do justice to it on this forum. Fortunately I have my own teacher and have been doing these practices for 14 plus years.

      Hi Jewels

I wonder if you can guide me?

Something out of the ordinary happened last night.

I woke up and experienced a sort of bright colourful vision happening, just floating in front of me near the bed.

This is the first time I've witnessed such a thing; since activating my third eye I normally just see blobs of colour and the odd twisting shapes or tunnels.

But this was like watching a silent movie but it seemed to be only a split second or two and then it stopped.

Unfortunately it didn't seem to relate to anything; it was just a woman with a denim skirt on, turning around but I didn't see her face nor know who she is.

I definitely wasn't dreaming but I think I was quite sensitive yesterday with a clear pressure on the crown and front of my head at regular intervals during the night.

Any idea what this could've been or how to improve this area of development?

When vision opens, you can open to many different layers or realms, it's not uncommon. Deciphering is not that easy and it's the ordinary mind that is grasping for answers - which is fine except many experiences are not of the ordinary kind and so the mind will grasp for reason, trying to understand everything. A good way to broaden consciousness is to let these experiences come and let them go. Grasping onto them is often how the third eye vision is skewed and limited.

Even though this was not a dream, it's wise to know that many dreams have absolutely no meaning either. Your vision is opening and the more you use your new structure, the more you will see. Relax with the experiences, be discerning - by this I mean if you are in a space that you don't like or doesn't feel right - get out of it. You do this by choosing to move through. Always remain the center of your own experiences. If this vision reoccurs, ask questions and see what happens.

Hi i'm just going to jump right on in. I'm probably going about this in a very difficult way. So when I try meditating I listen to music I find relaxing (Deep Chill Slow Beat Dubstep). Here a song I play when meditating "Uppermost - Wave Theory". Now after a short few minutes I will open my eyes and the most addictive feeling I have ever had I can't get enough of it. I'll open my eyes and I'm just not sure how to explain this, but when I open my eyes objects seem to be sooo far away but also seem very close to me like everything is within arms reach. I found this out before I ever even thought about meditating. The first time I did this it only lasted a few seconds I soon began researching meditation. And after a while now when I meditate I'll open my eyes and try to stay as relaxed and enjoy this new view of things I am now able to hold it for a few minutes before I'm not relaxed any more and am now trying hard to keep it going. I would love to know more about this and how I can expand on this.

      Hi Jewels,

I am doing meditation nearly for 7 to 8 months concentrating between eyebrows. Now i am getting puls all the day in center of the eye brows. Exactly i am getting this puls feeling most of the time in a day which distrubs me to do regular work. I would like to know whether i need to follow some other way to control it. Please explain the reason for this happening. Thanks in advance.

Control it? Embrace it. What is happening is the structure of your third eye is being flexed. The more you use the third eye the more it becomes like a muscle - just like your arm. Keep using your third eye, in meditation particularly and the sensations will likely soften during the day in your normal activities. You want to learn to use it in your day to day activities also - not by being vague and in a meditation space, but by being awake and aware and you can use your third eye as a centering device to do this.

      Awaken 2 years ago

I never did like that, but i meditate with purple flame by imagination, and when i open my eye, i see everything as little purple dominated all around. It makes my all senses and stress free and peace. Till now i concentrated on my breathing's. My question is while doing as you said, we can see different colors or energy fields in everything? will it disturb our sleeps? As i heard, that we should not open 3rd eye every-time, as it may give stress. Any way, i use my visualization techniques to achieve my goal and even in daily life, to heal others and if anybody quarreling to each other, i make them calm within 10 minutes. Is it not the 3rd eye opening?. little confuse. I can see my aura color as navy blue or lavender may be. And after this awakening process, every-time i get some small sparks or shocks, when i touch something newly, let it be human or gate or wall. Can you give some more information? I am just little curious. Thank-you for this interesting blog. :)

      Awaken 2 years ago

Another information, i got consciousness not by meditation, but i became curious on my-self and often asked questions on me like "who am i?", "why i am living" and for what? This made me to open almost all chakras instantly. I think there are many ways to understand self or make realization. Still i can feel that this is just the beginning of awakening. Everybody have different realizations and uniqueness, but for oneness. One must do some tests or re-search to understand selves. I saw many websites with different perspective, in which your's is one. Keep posting and thank-you.

As a rule of thumb with meditation - I let the experiences happen and don't make them happen via imagination. Using your imagination is using the ordinary mind which is what you want to learn to bypass to find stillness from the chatter. Auras change with moods, so it's nice to see colors but they are not stagnant. When meditation is done regularly the body of energy opens, a letting go occurs with grasping of your physical body. The shocks you are talking about sound like electric friction - I get those too depending on the type of shoes I'm wearing.

When the body of energy opens there are sensations that occur that accommodate the awakening. It's a broad topic and not one I can cover here. Making people calm by your actions is usually your personality, your presence and not the result of the third eye itself. It's how you interact that matters. You're having lots of experiences, keep going with your practices.

Hello, I'll make this quick. I believe that I've had some spontaneous third eye activity and looking to confirm. Over the past 8 months I have had two past life regression therapy sessions, during which I felt immense pressure between my brows causing me to scrunch my face really hard during regression. Recently I was laying in bed relaxing and felt myself falling into hypnosis (which I've realized is a fairly frequent thing I do without trying). Immediately it was like I was looking thru a telescope or something... Anyway, the image inside was of the beach and it was so incredibly clear like super high definition, as clear as if it was actually there. clearer than i have ever been able to picture something in my mind. I lost focus and it went away. About 30 seconds later my face started scrunching and I got the pressure between the brows. This time a black circle appeared which then turned into a deep blue glowing pattern, almost Celtic looking. It lasted about about a minute and disappeared. Could this be my third eye beginning to open? How will I know when it is? Should I try to recreate it or let it spontaneously appear again?? Any advice would help. Thank you!!!

The third eye space is described as fluid dimensional - the space changes and the structure of third eye has dimension - it's tangible. But this tangibility is also fluid at times. Sometimes it's very thick and dense, sometimes light. If you try too hard you can actually grasp onto it and this makes it more difficult to use. There is an oscillation between the ordinary mind grasping and then letting go into the third eye space. It can become a space for peripheral awareness, also for the higher mind. I suggest you use the video to do more practices and hone the structure. With meditation not all days are the same. Paradoxically trying can make the practice difficult. Letting go helps. And yet you don't want to be too slack.

Be spontaneous, particularly in the beginning because you don't want to be 'making it up.' Let the third eye do it's thing. There are many and varied experiences as you can see by the many posts. What is an experience for you may not be for another. Try not to scrunch - this feels like a grasping. But I can understand you doing it. In the beginning there can be vibrations, denseness, buzzing feelings. For some there is a slight headache sensation. This happens because there is an ungrasping not a grasping. There is a release happening. If you get a sense of frowning, lighten up a bit. Treat the center of your eyebrow as a temple - it is afterall the only gate that takes you within yourself. You will know it's opening by the sensations and vibrations, colors and patterns. There is an adventure waiting in that space. If you listen to the video and do a few practices to it you are very likely to have more tangible experiences. Well done.

Does healing sound or sound meditation can activate your third eye and other energy center?

Hi Richard. Some people have spontaneous openings of their third eye, others no. Why? It depends on the person and what they need. Energy centers are not always open permanently by the way. It's a work in progress for many. I conduct workshops specifically geared toward the third eye energy center. Once open it has to be used in order to remain active.

Short answer - Yes it can. And it's very common. Meditation and relaxation can result in a release of emotions. Energetically you are experiencing a "going inside" which can result in an honest connection with what is going on with you. Most of us cope with the world, hold on for dear life. And once we start dealing with this 'coping' we find emotions and feelings we never acknowledged before. Let it happen if you can, it's part of the process. Hi jewels, I've been meditating since a month. I generally focus on my breath but from past 1 week my forehead is heating up like someone is pointing and moving laser around my forehead. Hi Bobby. The third eye itself is not what heats up, it's the life force stuck in the cranial area. Especially if you continue to use the breath while meditation, you may find there is a grasping happening in and around the skull, including the forehead. It can feel like sharp jabs at times. This stuckness is trying to clear and it can hurt for some - depending on how strong the mind is at clinging on.

With the video above you can learn the process of friction breathing. It is a method of activating an energy center in the throat and it acts as a way of focusing back to the center when you go too much into the ordinary mind. This, by the way, is not a breathing technique that you focus on, it works perfectly with the third eye to open the life force and at the same time keep you focused. You drop the need to use the breath after awhile, and just BE.

So what you have to look for here is a possible stuckness in your mind as you are meditating - perhaps a "trying too hard." Be more yin, soften yourself in the space and let yourself be meditated. See how that goes. In the Awakening the Third Eye book there is a process called uplifting. This comes in handy when clearing grasped layers from the skull. You can learn to lift it up when these sharp jabs or heavy layers are felt in and around the skull.

Jewels, Sharp Jabs would be the exact term. It is like I feel something moving around my forehead jabbing at certain places(Kinda feel heat). I am not trying too hard nor I'm interested in opening my third eye force fully. Is it ok for me to continue meditation even if I feel the Jibes, would it disappear after sometime?. Hey, Jewels. I’m pretty sure my third eye is awakened, because every night I go to bed, I see purple and blue colors without trying. I had a few sleep paralysis experiences. And I even woke up in the middle of the night a couple times and saw a white electric ball floating above me across my room. My question is, how come I still can’t see auras? Also, how can I move forward, for example, gaining psychic abilities? Thanks for you help!

It's called vision haykey. Well done. You know I had that vision of the night sky with stars. It's apparently quite common, yet I've only had it once - absolutely loved it. But have never had it again sadly. When you see or feel presences, tune into the feeling it gives. Be open unless it's something you don't want around you. Auras, as with your teacher, is basically the energy field around someone. It's no biggy. People's auras change color often so it's not something to get too caught up in. The fact of seeing is fantastic See how you go in the next few weeks and let me know if you need. Better to send a pm via the FB address on my profile. Your comments are private.

Hi Neal. I can't see auras either, at least not the mainstream kind. I can tune into people's energies metaphysically quite easily but I don't see colors that easily. Purple and blue in the third eye tunnel - excellent. You know when I first started doing practices I complained to my teacher "all I see is purple, I don't get green or orange or red like others do." He laughed and said "purple is where most people want to be." I later learned this is quite a deep state of consciousness, named the intermediary worlds by A Language to Map Consciousness by Samuel Sagan. You know you are out of your ordinary mind framework when you are in this state. Vision is different for different people - it's never a one size fits all phenomena.

Push your vision - have things to 'see.' I'll give you a link to a talk Contextualizing Vision that will broaden your concept on this topic. Once you grasp the nature of vision you are off and running. http://www.clairvision.org/knowledge-tracks/kt-win...

i have recently begun meditating and doing exercises to open my third eye. after a few days, i have noticed i wake up with a slight headache that goes away soon, but i also have very vivid dreams now. today i was outside meditating and i put my hands to the earth and felt the energy pulse through me. as i looked at my hands, i could see my skin begin to change color. it became pale, and as i focused on this they became a light blue color. i was able to do this multiple times, and i actually saw this color happen, i wasnt imagining it. can someone give me some insight as to what this experience was? was i sensing my energy flowing through my body or was it something else? any information would be appreciated, thank you.

Jewels 2 years ago from Australia

Hi flowenn, thanks for your posting. The headache is likely to be caused by the opening itself. An ungrasping is taking place, you may want to help facilitate this by being conscious of how you are holding your forehead, and your thoughts.. By default many people have a reflex frown which creates a tension.

As you use your third eye, it's a slightly more inner vision than normal which enables a different perspective, a different standpoint. You see using a different lens. If you use the throat friction more, taught in the video, you will have an active role in feeling your life force, or etheric layer. The more you stabilize your experiences the more you can see. Colors vary. Tune into the feelings, or what's behind the color to get more clarity.

You are welcome to send a private message via the FB page on my profile if you have more questions.

Hello, I have been practising yoga for the past 4 months roughly twice a week. I always enjoy the relaxation at the end and feel like I float away from my class. I have practiced meditation only a few times, and yesterday I had the most amazing experience, although it probably sounds very simple, but to me it was beautiful. Only 9 mins meditation but at some point I had pulsating black and grey forming eventually which to me looked like an eye, then pale mauve started emerging transforming into a pulstating bright pinky purple light which seemed to fill the front of my head, it only seemed to last a few moments before it shrunk away and disappeared and eventually I came to from my meditation. After that I felt wonderous, I cleaned my house and became productive and just felt so on top of things. But today I feel low and tried meditation which has slowed me down but no colours today. :(

Ahhhh......one of the struggles of the meditator - not all days are good! Experiences come and they go. You will often have experiences you can't replicate, and it's the mind primarily that wants to replicate those good experiences. So a good rule of thumb with experiences is to "let them come, let them go." Try not to let the disappointment of 'ordinary' experiences stop you from your practice. The ultimate aim is to be in yourself, be centered. All those lovely colors and vibrations are wonderful and fulfilling but to stay centered whilst you don't have them - that's discipline.

Interestingly, fatigue can often follow a heightened experience. If you are opening your energy, which from what you described is what happened to you, there is a letting go that has happened. It is tension you have let go of. In the initial stages of meditation practices - there is fatigue that follows that letting go because you have been unconsciously expelling energy holding on. The body is wanting to rest from that. Take it easy perhaps - be kind to yourself. No colors? It's fine - sit with the space and let the space unfold. Go with what is happening, not what you are wanting to happen.

But now I'm seeing black cloud like shapes before my eyes and I just feel extreme fear they scare me and I have to stop. I don't want this to hold me back in your opinion what possible reasons for these jet black blobs ?

First I saw some kind of orange waves coming and after that I was in some really wonderful porch , with beautiful flowers and a great view of ocean , I got scared and then I came back as soon I release where I was... What happened? How can I stayed more time there, and why this happen to me ? there's some reason? ... I'm reading here to see the orange waves is pretty normal but ...How did I get to that place?.. I felt I really was there I even touched the walls!!

The answer why is difficult. You need to feel what was happening for you. It felt welcoming and a space of rest. But your mind got too much into the experience - which is very common. It's the minds grasping that stops the experience. We always want to know why and when we look too much and become too inquiring - we block the experiences. It takes practice to let these experiences come and go. Try not to expect the experience to come again, paradoxically by doing this, you may see it again......or you may not!

Hi Murthy, sounds like you're doing great. I suggest staying where you are and not trying to be anywhere else. Let it stabilize and the space will change - not because you do anything but because it happens by itself. There is a saying in meditation - 'Don't Meditate - Be Meditated' For this to happen you take a more yin stance to the practice - means no trying at all. The only trying is to stay out of thoughts and go back to your third eye and the space if thoughts happen. The cramps and intense heat - blockages being unblocked. If you can let that keep going and un-grasp the cramps, your practice will be easier. Not an easy feat however. Visions can be a by-product of meditation but remember the main reason to do it is to be in yourself and be present with yourself. The Buddhists have a saying "If the Buddha turns up in your meditation shoot him" So where you have people longing for vision, the very disciplined meditator has a different view. But it is good to have vision from time to time - it helps expand your awareness, your state of consciousness.

So nice to find this information. I have had some interesting experiences and would love to understand. At the time I was frightened and now that I have read a bit perhaps I need not be afraid. Can you she'd some light on my experiencing my feeling and hearing (hard to put into words) my name being spoken on my 3rd eye?

Some more questions, When I use these videos to get relaxed state to find out my spirit guide, They all ask the listener to see a door that opens up another dimension , But I see lot of purple light , But do not see any door or not able to imagine the door , At what step this is possible and able to imagine at will and see that door and to see spirit guide , Also same with trying to find out past life or inner self, How can I advance from this state to next level.

      Thanks for the help again.

I don't use tapes or musical stimuli for meditation practices - not any more. Past a certain stage you want to be guided by your inner self and not be led by someone else's direction. I'm not saying that in the beginning these tools are not helpful to get you on your way, but it will not pay long term to keep relying on them.

Not all people are going to have the same experiences. And therefore not all people are going to be led through a door that opens to another dimension. They are just words and perhaps you are not ready to move forward. And I'm not sure I've seen a physical door in my meditation practices. I have however, and this is common, to see purple light. That space of purple (called the purple space via my own school of meditation) is a platform or node that is beyond your ordinary mental consciousness. Interestingly it's a space very welcomed by meditators because it shows a good state of involution. So well done Murthy for getting to that state.

Do not use imagination in meditation. Let the experiences come and let them go. Using imagination can keep you in a lower state. And how will you know what is a real experience and an imagined one? Stabilize yourself in the purple space and stay centered there. Let your own experiences unfold and don't worry about a door.

As for past life and regressions. These experiences may not come via a meditation practice. Send me a personal message via Facebook at this link. http://facebook.com/pages/Astral-Jewels/4807462953... I can send you links to regression information and perhaps people doing regression in your area.

Hi Jewels. Very interesting read. I am not sure if I am activating my third eye or not, but At times when I lay down and close my eyes, After a few minutes i will start seeing a purple colored cloud type thing. It sometimes starts on the sides and sometimes starts at the top of my vision field and kinda rolls through. It looks like a smoke cloud, always changing shape. I watch it come into view, move from side to side, or as I said earlier, from top to bottom. once it reaches the other side, bottom of vision, it starts all over again. usually only last for a couple minutes before it fades and turns into a white light in more the center of my vision. I dont feel that i am in a meditative state though. Its doesnt seem like Im the one doing it...it just kinda happens outta the blue. I do recall a few months ago that the cloud was a green color, which I had never seen before, and I have not seen since. Do you think this is a third eye activation?..I have also heard co-workers thoughts...with the one time there being about an 1/8 of a mile seperating us. What do you think?

Hi Clint, you are certainly in a more involuted space. To be in the 'purple space' (which is the simple name for it in meditation circles) you cannot be in your ordinary chatty mind. And to get to it you need to be using inner vision, and the path to this is via the third eye. When you use your third eye more actively it can become a tangible muscle - you feel it. So discerning what is and is not the third eye can be a matter of where you are along the spectrum of your experiences. You don't have to be in a meditation space, but it often happens when you are. By default meditation is a space of inner centerdness - one would gauge the term depending on their own sense of consciousness. The first time I experienced the purple space was by doing yoga nidra - a relaxation practice. And, according to yogis, the purple space is welcomed as it is beyond the ordinary mind which is where you want to be with a meditation or involuted practice.

      Hi Jewels,

Forty six years ago (this was during the Vietnam War and the Hippie era).

I wasn't depressed and I wasn't high on drugs. I started thinking about how hypocritical this world was. I did not know anything about meditation. I did not know if God existed or not, but I decided to meditate on God. I would lie down on my cot and cover my head with a pillow to block out as much noise as possible, and thought "If you can hear me, I don't want to be here any longer, I want to be with you". I did this for about an hour a day for about a week. One day I was by my cot and a feeling came over me to lie down. I wasn't tired, but I layed down and was in the fetal position, when I saw in the middle of my mind a white dot. I was conscience and could think. I thought "Wow, this is going to be heavy". All of a sudden the dot opened up and became a tunnel of spirals. I started going through this tunnel. I could see the spirals going passed me faster and faster as I traveled through the tunnel. I had the physical sensations of what I can only describe as wings fluttering in my body, a vibration, as though energy were leaving my body. There was a high pitched vibrating sound that went with the flutering and the speed in which I was traveling through the tunnel. I kept thinking with my conscience mind "Wow, this is heavy". It seamed as though I had two minds, my conscience mind was intriged with what was happening and at the same time I felt at peace. As I neared the end of the tunnel, I could see outer space, black with stars. I shot through the tunnel and was traveling at what seamed a tremendous speed. I was heading straight for a bright white star. As I neared this star, it became a planet, off white in color. As I neared this planet, I saw a white dot on it. This became a large white dome in the center of five smaller white domes around it with white (what I can only describe as corridors or walkways) in a geometrical pattern. As I approached this, my conscience mind became afraid and I thought "I'm to young to die, I really don't want to die, I want to get married and raise a family, have a house". My conscience mind thought I was going to crash into this dome and injure myself. I tried with all my conscience mind to bring myself back. It took all my will power to do this. When I suddenly snapped out of it, I saw only exploding colors for a few seconds. When I regained my sight, everything was exactly as it was, nothing had changed, as though it had all taken place in a split second. I felt very refreshed as though I had just awoken from eight hours sleep. I was very curious about what had actually happened and started looking for someone to tell me what I had experienced, but could get no answers.

I am hoping that you can shed some light on this for me.

Hello Tim, firstly thank you so much for sharing your experience. As I went into the space of it I was drawn by the sincerity of your request - to be removed from the terrible experience that for many was the Vietnam War and to be placed in a more warm and inviting place. I also can't help wondering what would have happened had you walked into the dome. Maybe it would not have been death, but another 'world' or another realm.

OK, so on a more practical level - what happened here? The aspiration with which you requested to be removed from this life was palpable in your words. And I'm sure it was palpable to whoever or whatever was listening. You experienced an altered state of consciousness. It was vivid, very real and not something you made up or imagined. Why? Was it because you asked using a lot of will and integrity? Why is a difficult question to answer. The space of the experience is more easily unravelled. I have also seen the black space of stars beyond the tunnel, which was through an involuted practice of meditation.

I wonder if you experienced life differently when you returned from that experience. Were you less fearful of life.

Please feel free to send a private message via my facebook page, the address is on my hubpages profile page. The conversation is then not public.

      Hi all.

Im very new to all of this and im not really sure what im supposed to be looking for to get answers so any help is gratefully welcomed ......but 2 weeks ago i went in to a shop looking for a book and ended up with the owner who turned out to be a medium coming and speaking to me and my mum, after family was brought up she mentioned to me that im going to start becoming aware of things very soon and not to be scared of it and too seek help when needed as too start with ill think im going mad.

Well 2 nights ago when i was trying to go to sleep... my eyes were closed for a while and my eyes seemed to automatically feel like they were looking and searching as if they were open then i started seeing the colour yellow which then changed to green. It then looked like faces were in the distance then coming into focus and then out again....i then saw what looked like a very shimmery dark blue sapphire jewel going in and out of focus (best way i can describe what i was seeing)

i then started to go into a nightmare sleep paraylisis (which i have had alot of over the years)? I used to struggle to wake myself up from them but this night in question i managed to open my eyes as soon as i realised that it was happening.

so i literally only had 3 hours sleep that night.

Please tell me im not going bonkers.

      Much love.

Hi Beccie, The experiences you describe in regard to the vision is typical of inner vision. Colors of all descriptions, geometric shapes, gems, images, light. The pressure between the eyebrows indicates an activation or opening of the third eye center. In time the pressure will subside. In the meantime you may feel tingling as well.

The sleep paralysis is a different thing. Using your third eye, and the opening of the third eye does not mean you will experience sleep paralysis. This can have several causes and you can google the topic to see other peoples experiences. But generally as you become more conscious of spaces in your sleep, it will feel like you are waking up when you could still be in a space of sleep. Until you stabilize the experiences, fear could be what is creating the paralysis. This is common with astral travelling - the rise and descent out of the physical body is thwart with uncertainty of the ordinary mind and fear often stops the experience. Let yourself stabilize what is happening and flow with the experience. When you are conscious in sleep you can navigate through spaces.

You are welcome to ask further questions privately if you wish via my facebook page Astral Jules.

You experienced a shift in the space of your consciousness while in the intermediary worlds (purple space). The experience is likely personal to you, yet there are paradoxes, personal and impersonal become mixed in those states. When you had the experience, could you sense a presence? Could you note the change in the space from one to the other? There is no right or wrong definition here. It is more for you to ask these questions when next the experience occurs. As well as 'seeing' the space, feel the space, let it expand and enfold into you so you feel as though you become the space. It is likely the space involved presences, let your peripheral vision answer these questions for you. This will ultimately assist you with expanding your states in meditation. And as the Buddah says - let them come, let them go. Awe is a beautiful word for these experiences - well done that you could surrender.

Last night, I was in bed and my eyelids were closed. Really weird, as it was as if my eyelids were transparent, or they were not closed, so I still 'seeing' what little I could of my bedroom. Then between my eyes, was a purple to blue light, it was fluid in movement - 'raised' my eyes to the ceiling, so did it, when I lowered my eyes, it followed. Then it disappeared. I opened my eyes then closed them again. The 'light' returned and this time, it spread itself across my eyes, engulfing my total eye span. It made shapes, then kept reshaping. Because of fear I opened my eyes as I scared that I'd see a 'face' or something... After a few minutes of keeping my eyes opened, I closed them again and went to sleep.

I have been meditating, and began reading Spiritual Growth by Sanaya, where there is a chapter on meeting your Higher Self, so I wonder if this experience I've explained, is the result.

Hello Maggie, It's interesting how these experiences happen. Some are completely spontaneous without cause. Some openings come after an aspiration and desire to do so. Aspiration is powerful and if done with integrity you can be assisted in ways you cannot imagine! Letting your higher self reveal itself is a major goal in spiritual work.

Now your 'job' is not to grasp onto having the same experience again, but to be fluid in your meditations so as to facilitate whatever comes. You may re-experience the purple and blue light, I have had this many times. It's a good indication you are internalising your consciousness.

If you have further questions about your experiences you are invited to send a personal message to my FB page shown on my Hubpages profile page.

Thank you for an excellent article on third eye practices and benefits. My question is related to what comes next. How can I develop my third eye bugging me all day long, lol, and interpret what I'm seeing. I can find the right road using my awareness, and things come to me pretty easily. But I feel as though there is more my third eye wants to tell me and I can't interpret the pulses or tingling, although sometimes I can get a vague vision. Thank you.

I am a 37 year old mother of 8. I am married and hold close to my morals. I was raised in two different christianity faiths mom/JW and dad/Baptist. I do not live by EVERYTHING but do hold to commandments. I never baptized into any religion but always talked to God and pray. I was in a week long intense bible study. Day and night I would read, listen, and talk about the bible, religion and try to find the truth. One night I went all the way to 4 am and was so frustrated because it seem I still had no real answers. I laid in my bed and prayed. "God I want to know... I need to Know the truth". As soon as I said that with my eyes closed, I saw a purple little light that seemed to be swirling toward me. I hoped up in fear and refused to close my eyes. The purple light was still visible, it transformed into purple triangles and then I saw an Eye. This eye wouldn't go away for a couple days. I saw it all day through my regular vision. I prayed and prayed for it to disappear. It was very scary. I stop reading and studying for a long time. What did I experience? I wasn't trying to "see visions" or open a third eye. Why did this happen to me?

      P.S.

I remember leaving my body about 10 years ago. Once I noticed I walked back to it and touched it only to be sucked back in. This is what had me wanting to "KNOW". During this same time I now remember my fore head jumping involuntarily. Everyone thought I was crazy because no one (not even my doctor) could explain why I was feeling this. The jumping was not visible, i could just feel it.

I am a person who thinks a lot.

Hope you can give me a little insight.

      Thank you

Tawana, your experience was typically an opening of the subtle body known as your Third Eye. The sensations in the forehead are a common experience. It is an energetic center that is felt in the centre of the eyebrows. Sensations are tangible, yet they are not detectable physically, ie a doctor could not pick it up on an xray for example.

These experiences are only fearful if you don't have a reference for what is happening. As can be seen from many comments on this article, similar experiences are recorded.

Why did it happen to you? Grace could be the answer. Some people will go through their entire lives and never have an experience beyond their physical bodies. You wanted to be open, you were asking for more just by doing practices from a genuine place inside of you. And you were answered with an opening. There are so many answers to this questing "why did it happen to you' and they are fascinating to ponder.

The shapes are also a common experience. Many see geometry. It has been said their are presences in the shapes. The spaces of geometry are beautiful. This is nothing to fear either. It's an experience of your inner world, yours.

Third eye awakening is not dependant on religion, yet it spans all and any religious teachings. It's even mentioned in the bible - there is a quote in the article. It is dependant on a genuine want to know, which you have.

If you wish to talk more about your experiences and confusion that may be attached to them, please don't hesitate to contact me. My details are on my profile page. The last thing the angels want is for you to be closed off from what it is you are seeking.

      hi,

I have few question on physical symptoms I'm going through, i have been practicing meditation for nearly two to three months.

      1. when i see sky i see a lot of white particles a million of them, i see the same on object like monitor or bright white surface , and when i see other surface or any surface dark, green or wall i see energy particle or i can say flames kind of moving fast, i see it 24/7, i dont know what it is, but i can tell my eyesight has been more clear since i started meditation no pain most of the time chill.

      2. 1 get pricking in and around my chest after a spicy food and after a a meal, my concern on this is when i get pricking when I'm doing my job i freeze and my concentration goes on this than my work, though the pricking is slowing down due gods grace, however, during meditation(from normal to deep) even for 2-3 hours i fill chill, bliss and no feel of pain i forget myself.

      3. during sleep when I get up in between i feel my inner body vibrating hard but I'm not shaky outside. some time i feel vibration either left side or right side.

i had other physical issues but most of them are gone due divine intervention.

      Hi Kuchel

      1. I am aware of experiences of heightened vision, either sight or smell. The senses can become more attuned and perception is more acute. The particles are often described as pixels and can be a variety of colors depending on the person. It is an individual experience and often happens in the early phases of a beginner's meditation experiences. Having said that, this does not mean experienced meditators do not see pixels, it's more that they go deeper more quickly and bypass them.

      2. The spicy food experience could be just that - spicy food. However, it is common for openings or flarings to happen to your life force. An awakening is happening and this can occur in different ways and again it is an individual experience. What happens for you does not necessarily happen to someone else. The energetic openings or tactile sensations in the body of energy go hand in hand when using the third eye. They are often subtle and can be built up depending on your practices.

      3. As per question 2 - the vibrating is also a common experience. Many people will feel vibration between the eyebrows spreading across the forehead. There can be headaches too, this happens when the structure of the third eye is becoming active - it's more a re-emergence of a body part that was stagnant but is now coming alive. The unclamping or cleaning of the structure through use can feel like having a headache. This usually passes after a few days of meditation practice. It is important not to grasp onto the sensations but soften the forehead as the sensations occur. There can be sensations of heat throughout the body. Again the vibrations in the body can be an awakening of energy centres. Let them come, let them go.

Be vigilant during your working day. Practice being focused when at work and leave your meditation practice at home in a safe environment. The bliss feeling is wonderful, and it is lovely to be able to push the body away for a time - similar to sleep. But you need to use discipline at work even if you are having flarings in your energy. If it is a problem, stand up and walk, breath into your belly and ground yourself more.

I hope this has helped. If you have further questions please contact me using the information on my profile page.

      Congratulations!

"Meditation," truly meditating as I've come through study to learn that it is, I'm afraid is not at all what I casually refer to as my sense of meditating. Rather, I will intentionally close myself off from the world of noises, distractions, etc and go into very deep thought.

I know, of course that this practice of mine is simple physical and mental "relaxation." I have this belief that the authentic act of the meditation you write about here, is only reached through knowledge and practice of it.....that it requites very special skills or abilities. I feel this way because I've not ever been able to experience the feelings, visions & out-of-body sensations you describe.

Yes, this frustrates me. I would love nothing more than to be able to Meditate~in the purest form.

So Jewel, I will take your advice and search for a workshop. Because of the area in which I live, I have no doubt I will have to travel some distance to attend one of these workshops. This, in itself is an issue for me. I hate to drive, a lot of traffic causes me anxiety and add the time and distance and I'm a mess! LOL Is there any hope for me?

This is so interesting to learn. Now, all I want is to be able to experience it!! Thanks, Jewel, Paula

Hi Paula, It is helpful to do a workshop but it's not mandatory. And you are right, practice is required for any in-depth work to silence the mind and experience your inner landscape. Try the video in the hub and see if that helps. And get in touch using the profile details. Maybe one can be organised closer to where you live.
