Psychic Readings

There are many psychic reading sites on the internet these days, and throughout the country you will find loads of weekend flea markets or sales that always have a psychic in residence. With so many clairvoyant, medium or psychic painters selling their wares, how do we know which are genuine and which ones are con artists?

In my town we often have psychic fairs, and I have visited them loads of times—mainly to buy my tarot cards or pick out a piece of silver jewellery that catches my eye.

Upon browsing around, I see loads of different readings—from tarot cards and runes, to ghostly psychic drawings that tell you that the person the psychic has drawn for you, is actually your great great grandmother. The point is, they all look so genuine.

And before I go on, I would like to add that I believe most of them really believe that their Gift is actually true. I doubt very much that someone would take up this profession without actually having some sort of psychic experience. What I do believe is that they think they can do the cards or speak to great aunt Elsie who lived years ago. But how do we know which one to pick?

Psychology, Suggestion, Manipulation

I have been reading the tarot cards ever since I was 16 years old. My whole life before that consisted of loads of different psychic happenings that got me interested in why and how this sort of thing happened.

It was a natural progression that made me want to try and help people by reading the tarot cards. Before I go on, I would like to add that I have studied psychology for over four years, and I could have taken the last course and become a councillor.

So I am fully aware of the fact that a lot of psychic readings are nothing more than being able to ‘see’ what the person is like, read how they react, and be aware of the fact that they actually want to believe you, because they are paying you, and of course they want the excitement.

Therefore they are very open to suggestion and can easily be manipulated into revealing information and then afterwards, thinking that actually they believe the psychic is the one that told them this info.

Signs of Fraud

First of all, let’s address the fraud. This is blatantly a way to get as much money out of you as possible. They know they are fraudsters; all they want to do is manipulate you and convince you that they are telling the truth.

Here's what you can do first: let's say you're walking around a psychic fair, for example—go and stand just outside of personal range, as I call it, but make sure you can hear, see, and get the impression of what is true and what’s not.

Not only will this tell you what’s going on, but you will be able to see whether the psychic starts to look uncomfortable, giving you sidelong glances and fidgeting for example. I have seen this a number of times, and it’s a great giveaway.

Second, see how many times they repeat themselves. For example, do they ask for background info, and then throw it back at the recipient later in the conversation? By taking this initiative, it will be obvious that they are ‘fishing’ for information.

By playing on the same words and conversation, they are actually trying to make you remember the phrase or word that they have got right. They read people—it's as simple as that. Also a real psychic will not charge you too much money. Always go for the cheaper option, because the more expensive ones mean they have been doing this for years.

Watch the psychic's face for a little smile or a sign of triumph. It's not hard to see. Count how many times they get something right, compared to what is wrong.

And don't forget to listen into conversations after the recipient has left. Many frauds like to boast to someone that the reading has gone really well, and 'I am such a good reader,' etc.

Fooling Themselves

A psychic who believes that they are genuine will act with enthusiasm, treating the recipient with respect and smiling a lot. He or she will be so pleased with themselves when they get the answers right, that they tend to give themselves away by this action.

It's as though they are guessing, and when it is clear they are spot on, will smile and preen. But what in fact they are doing is reading the person. It's not hard.

For example, let's say the person getting the reading is a teenage girl. It's obvious that the psychic will automatically start talking about boyfriends and school, or meeting a talk dark stranger at a nightclub! Bit of a giveaway!

They will look all innocent and in fact believe that they have nothing to hide. But in fact they are just getting into the zone of the participant. Even a teenage girl will have other problems, so this is a great giveaway.

The Real McCoy Genuine Psychics

A real genuine psychic will stand out a mile, if you know what to look for. He or she will only look at the tarot cards or the palm of your hand when doing palm reading. He/she will be concentrating so much on what they can see before them, they will not even take a look at the participant. Their concentration will be purely on the reading.

Listen in, and you will see that they talk about all sorts of family life, court cases, illnesses that can be proven by the participant, and things that have genuinely happened in the past. And more importantly, they will admit their mistake if they read it wrong.

If they are doing a future reading, and the participant totally disagrees, instead of trying to rectify their mistake, the reader will turn and say something along the lines of, ‘Well, this is what I can see. It may seem strange to you now, but I see this in your future whether you believe it or not’.

In other words, they won’t care if it sounds ‘out there’ or strange, they say what they see. Simple as that. A real genuine psychic will also give you a written or taped text of the conversation. They won’t be afraid of any comebacks because they believe in what they are saying.

Once the participant has gotten over the initial suspicion, they will see that everything they have been told Is in fact true, or as near to the truth as can be. Even if the reading turns out to be completely wrong, they will still appreciate the fact that they psychic tried their best and didn't try to lie to them.

How to Act When Sitting for a Reading

You are paying a lot of money for your tarot or card reading. So do not give them any information. Never ever tell them anything about your past, where you live, or how old you are. But the most important thing is to stay blank. Literally.

Sit comfortably in your chair, do not smile, move around or do anything that will let the psychic read you. Even a small thing such as scratching your nose will actually give off signals that they can read. Body language is a very easy thing to pick up on.

And when they get something completely right, just nod and say 'yes' or 'no' to whether you understand what they mean. This way, you will be able to pick out the genuine from the fraud. All con artists use this ploy. You will totally stump them by keeping still, having a blank expression, and never, ever giving them information that they can work on. This is when they will show their true colors.

And the most important thing is to keep an open mind.

I have been doing readings for years. If I get it wrong, I hold my hands up. I also tell them before I start that I read the tarot cards with a dash of psychology to help them with a problem.

If they ask me where the information comes from, I just hold my hands up and admit that I have no idea. I explain that it could either be a power from ‘beyond’ or a part of my brain that somehow picks up signals from the participant, even future readings, or something that scientists do no know yet.

And most important: The participants keep coming back. Because I tell the truth about my ‘powers’. Trust the participant, and most importantly they will trust you.

Have a great time with your psychic reading, and most importantly, never ever take it too seriously. Nobody knows the future; it is down to you. We are just there to help you see the choices that you can make.

Good luck!

Did You Know?

The tarot, first known as trionfi then later tarocchi, was mainly played by the French and the Italians. The cards were first used in Europe in the mid-15th century. To start with, they were used as a pack of playing cards.

But from the 18th century, tarot cards have been used by mystics and occultists to tell fortunes. Even though the word 'tarot' is taken from the Italian word tarocchi, it actually doesn't mean anything, but some say that it comes from the Taro river in northern Italy, near Palma.

More mysteriously, another idea is that it comes from the Arabic word turuq, which means 'four pathways'.

But maybe there is an even darker side to the tarot. Some question whether it is related to the words Harut and Marut, who were mentioned in a short sentence in the Qu'ran. According to the account, a group of Israelites learned magic, because Two Angels, Harut and Marut, wanted them to demonstrate it for them. But in reality, the two Angels wanted to test their will power. It was told that this magic would be passed on to others by the Devil.

Questions & Answers

Question: I had a call with a psychic today and she told me I should wait to get pregnant because my body might not be ready for it and there's something going on with it.. should I believe it? She did say I wasn't right but she could tell I was fertile and will in the future have a baby.

Answer: The thing is with this sort of reading is that she is obviously picking up on something. Either a real psychic thing or just psychology. As for saying that you will have a baby, I believe that maybe stepping a little too far. Just to be on the safe side maybe go and have a check-up. It will be fine I am sure, but that way you will be able to tell if she was right or wrong.

Question: A psychic came up to me today randomly and said she needed to read me. She also said I had a generational curse on me and she could help me get rid of it with candles. Is this possible?

Answer: Yes it is possible to remove curses with candles. Its called Candle magic. I would although, find it rather strange that a woman would do that. I think she was wrong to do that. Not to worry, you can do 'Psychic cleansing' in various ways. Just put those words in Google, you will find plenty of help.

Question: My cousin had her cards read and asked him who I was (using my name). He said I was in great danger and needed to go see him. Is this legitimate?

Answer: In a word, no! When a 'psychic' tries to make you see them, all they see is money. I noticed that he never answered her question! Says it all doesn't it? Find a good one!

Question: I have always, since I was a teen, felt as though I have something very powerful I have to do in my future. What is it? How do I find out?

Answer: Try meditation. Turn off your phone, keep people away and open your mind; It may not work straight away, but if you keep doing it the answer will pop into your head. Either from your 'higher' mind, or the Universe.

Question: What are the two best questions to ask a psychic when having a first time reading so to tell if they are legit?

Answer: I would say the best thing to do is to not ask any questions, just let them do a reading, but do not show emotion, or give any info.

Question: A psychic said they could give me a special soap to wash off a curse placed on me from birth and help me secure the love of my life’s attention and love. Do you think this is legitimate?

Answer: No. Simple as that. It seems that she/he was just guessing and using Psychology! To remove a curse either do a psychic cleansing or make a witch's bottle. The first will clean it; the second will send the curse back to the giver!

Question: I feel stuck in life especially since my ex left our kid and me because I found out his lies. I need to know how to get my energy back. A psychic said supposedly a woman he is dealing with hexed us. I don't know what to believe about Marcus. How do I get closure, and how do I regain my energy back by removing the bad "luck"?

Answer: You can cleanse your house with 'Smudging'. It's a herbal mix that you set light to as a cleansing measure for your house. To reverse a hex, you can make a witches bottle, and yes, it's very effective! As for that psychic, I would take it with a pinch of salt! Literally! For starters, a psychic should not say that without proof, and second, remove all evil influences with salt. Sprinkle salt on your head, around the doors and on window ledges.

Question: I recently attended a medium. The reading lasted for 90 mins and he asked lots and lots of questions to the point where I felt it was an interview. He then advised me on what I told him and began to tell stories of his predictions that came true. Does this sound like a fraud?

Answer: Yes, sounds like it! A fraud and thinking he is some sort of psychologist! By asking the questions he is 'leading' you. Then he gave his conclusion. Trouble is some people lead you into doing things then claim they saw it!

Question: I had a phone reading with a psychic. She seemed genuine. She was correct about everything she said without me revealing information. She did mention that it was already "set" for me to meet a man in the future. My only question around this is that how can a future meeting be "set"? I thought when it comes to the future, nothing is "set."

Answer: I believe some Psychic Readers tend to use the wrong words. She would have probably meant that it was "set" that you will meet him, with no relation to a timeline.

Question: I was told that I have a curse on me. Is it true?

Answer: Do you think you have? What has happened to make you think its true? People say all sorts of things to annoy or frighten you. Of course, if you believe it, it's a good idea to get protection. Make a Witches bottle, then bury it 12 inches deep in your garden. That will send the curse back to the person who sent it. For how to make a witches bottle, just google it, okay?

Question: How do I know if a friend has romantic feelings for me?

Answer: Look into their eyes. Notice how they stand near you. Do they do things for you? Smile at them and see how they smile back. You will know.

Question: Are subliminal affirmations real?

Answer: In a nutshell, yes. But of course it does all depend on the recipient. Some people just cannot be hypnotised or mentally 'taught' at all.

Question: I was told to sleep on an egg by a fortune teller. What dose this mean or do?

Answer: Yes eggs are a sign of fertility nothing more.

Question: Who are the best psychics?

Answer: I do think women are most sensitive. But there have been a lot of really good men psychics too. So maybe both?

Question: I was meant to get married in 4 months but he left me why did he do this? We were together for 8 years.

Answer: I am sorry to hear that. Sometimes people panic and realize that they have made a mistake. Maybe its best for both of you. If you had married then found out that it wasn't going to work out, it would have been more difficult.

Question: Will I be working at a different job soon?

Answer: I would have to do you a reading with the cards. I am sure there are many psychics near you. Maybe look in the papers, too.

Question: My girlfriend went to get a reading and the psychic gave a pretty accurate reading. Then said that she would benefit from a cleansing and that she would offer her a good price for her. My girlfriend was doubtful but later on, decided to try it because the lady promised it would help with her mental health. She did the cleansing and then the psychic said she would need more sessions. She also told her to buy and sleep on an egg. I’m afraid that she may have been scammed. Any opinion?

Answer: This makes me so mad! This woman was definitely a scammer! If you wish to 'cleanse' your house then you can buy smudge sticks, made from sage. As for the egg, well that's a new one on me! Eggs are only a sign for birth. Good luck! Also, if a reader is giving a good reading, she may very well be using psychology and picking up signals from your face, and of course words that slip out.

Question: I picked three tarot cards online. One said that I have very bad luck coming, and a very bad physical/altercation fight and/or job that I will lose, but if I'm strong I can still win the battle. Now I'm stressing about this. Is there any truth in the online pick a card readings?

Answer: To be honest, I can't imagine what those cards can be! All cards have a good and bad reading. It really all depends on how they are chosen or 'thrown'. It seems to me that the person reading them is reading herself from a book and not getting it right. I would not worry.

Question: What’s going on in my life right now ?

Answer: You would have to have your cards read. This is about psychic or fake psychics.

How can I become a psychic? I've always been interested in the supernatural and have felt a strange connection to 'magic'. I've always felt like it was something I just need in my life, but I've never been able to get any help from the web. Also, I'm pretty young and my parents don't approve of supernatural and stuff and don't believe.

How fascinating! yes some people are genuine psychics, others?!

Tim Truzy from U.S.A. on November 04, 2018:

Hi, Nell,

Another great article. I've always felt comfortable dealing with these people, even before I became reacquainted with Christ. I may still attend spiritual expos in my area. Why?

Having worked in the counseling field over my life, I do believe there are genuine "empaths." I also know there are people known as "sensitives." I've encountered quite a few in my life. These people can read a person's emotional state and may give some guidance.

I also think that there are people who can help in other ways spiritually. Everybody doesn't have the same spiritual abilities; even fewer seek to develop any spiritual abilities. that's a fact. But even biblical texts recognize we all have spiritual gifts, but we are cautioned about using them without proper spiritual guidance or training.

One thing I discovered from being a regular at one spiritual expo is that the psychic participants "cleanse" the area with a "white light" ritual before they start. They told me that if anyone was a fraud that they specifically rejected him/her from their group

I noticed over time, that only those reliable and legitimate members of this group would participate. They did their own policing." That's why everyone I saw who went to this expo would come away smiling or pleased that they had spent the day there.

I remember attending my first expo. I walked with my friend, Veronica, to a table. The lady, a Native American elder said: "Well, young lady, you should go teach in Spain, and young man, you are a bit of a skeptic. But didn't your dad tell you to listen carefully when you run across an elder from tribal blood? Your counseling background does you know good here. Now, do you two want a reading?"

We had just set foot in the place, Nell. We sat down and listened intently. There was no way she could have known the first thing about us. In fact, we agreed not to speak until we made contact with some of the psychic participants.

Your article provides good guidance for people trying to distinguish the fraud from the real thing. You are doing really important work, Nell, because most people are looking for something they can trust, someone they can believe, and someway of determining what is safe.

Excellent article.

Much respect and admiration,

Yep totally agree with you Paula! When I read the cards etc I always tell them its psychology. Always good to see you :)

Suzie from Carson City on June 22, 2018:

Nell.....No idea how I have passed by this hub for so long, unless I must blame it on my less time spent on our site. Well, I'm here now, girlfriend!

I can appreciate a thorough, quality Horoscope analysis by a learned Astrologist, but that's pretty much as far as I can go.

As for psychics/mediums, my firm belief is that they're "Genuine Entertainers," at best. Do I have even a faint belief they communicate with those passed on? NO. Some are better actors than others....can pull off some outstanding guesses and that's about it. All it takes to make believers out of most people is one or 2 remotely credible comments that might make them feel good or give them some hope about something. That's it...Period, the end.

Living human beings simply cannot and do not HEAR deceased souls whispering, muttering or releasing messages to pass on to us.

It is our fervent, desperate DESIRES for that to be true. What convinces us of psychics & mediums is our strong emotions of those desires.....certainly not our intellect nor common sense.

As always.....I LOVE your articles. Peace, Paula

Please do NOT go to VICKY ANTOINETTE (currently in Mallow) do not waste your money. She is a complete charlatan. I paid 70 euro to see her yesterday. She spent about 80% of the time telling me that my partner was no good for me and to leave him. Then said a man from work will start texting you but he has a girlfriend so I'd encourage you to have a fling with him coz you deserve a little fun. She told me to dump the guy I'm with now and have fun with the other fella, until I get bored. The truth is I AM SINGLE.. there is NO men in my life(I work from home so there's no "guy from work") and unlike her I DO have a moral compass so would NEVER entertain any guy that was already in a relationship. She had to leave Cork city as a disgruntled customer (she told me it was a man so I'm assuming maybe one of the husbands that was abandoned by their wives under her advice). He broke her face and she ended up out of work and having to flee to Mallow. Karma catches up on everyone, even unscrupulous thieving Charlatan's such as herself. The thing is I do Angel cards myself and read palms (I don't charge money, just do it for free to anyone that asks me)so I could tell immediately that she was a fake. Not 1 bit of accuracy from her at all. She cried during our reading as she thought I'd cry too, I didn't. It just sent alarms ringing (FAKE!) and she kept insisting on hugging me, her way of trying to fake a bond so you'd pay her. The hugging felt SO forced and made me so uncomfortable. I gave her the 70 and left because I thought if you're that desperate for my money you can have it. I feel physically ill thinking about all of the relationships she must have broken up just out of her own greed. Lets be honest, relationships are difficult, this charlatan knows most people argue with their spouses/ partners so people are already vulnerable to being in a position to be told to leave their partner. I hope Karma puts a stop to this evil woman. She's an abomination. (BUYER BEWARE!! Save your Money, VICKY ANTOINETTE is a FAKE!)

Nell Rose (author) from England on May 10, 2017:

Hi Riley, I get the feeling that a lot of her trouble is psychology. For some reason she feels guilty for taking money, yet she wants to do the readings. A part of her mind is yelling, 'Are you faking it? Is this real? What she needs to do is sit down and give it a rest for a while, sort out her health, and most important don't do readings just for the money. For two reasons. one you are so desperate for the money you may read the palms wrong, and secondly she will feel guilty and then ill. round and round we go! to read palms, tarot etc you have to be relaxed. concentrate on the person what you are feeling etc, and never feel guilty for being paid! why should she do it for nothing? me confident and say 10 dollars/pounds and then as she gets more experienced put the money up! tell her good luck!

Riley McHale on May 09, 2017:

Hello! I have a best friend who do fortune telling. She just noticed it when she read her cousin's palm when she's teen, she saw death but just kept it to herself because she didn't believe in what she saw. A month after, her counsin died.

She continued reading without asking anything in return and it seems like she's getting bad luck after palm reading. The bad luck involves money and health, she said she hasn't accept this ability yet. If fortune telling is bad luck, what does she needs to do? Does she needs to accept that she has that ability, does she need to get something in return from her participants?

This reminds me of another useful self- help article entitled "How to know if the Tooth Fairy is Genuine". Gotta be careful. There is a high potential that the fairy putting $ under our kids' pillows just might be a fraud. Can you even imagine?

Nell Rose (author) from England on December 05, 2016:

Hi Holly, not sure to be honest. You have to take into consideration whether the other two members of the family really believed her, or in fact wanted to believe. there is a lot of psychology involved. a lot of people will believe because its fun, they only hear what they want, and latch onto the good stuff. If you felt that it was wrong then it was wrong. the best thing to do is either tape the conversation or take notes. this way you can figure out whether they were worth going to. of course psychics can never be completely right, some things just feel one way when it may turn out the other. and of course the recipient, you in this case, may not realise that she is explaining about something that may happen that you can't even think to believe is possible. but you never know, it may be! your best bet is to sit back and see what happens. if her words don't come true, or its far off the mark, then write down her name, and remember to never go there again, okay? thanks for reading, nell

Holly on December 04, 2016:

I was at an event today and two members of my family had a reading that was spot on so i went later on with my sister. Whilst waiting we didn't say anything about ourselves as I wanted a proper reading. During the reading however, she did ask a few questions e.g age and career goals. Some information she gave me was completely off mark. Do you think that this was a genuine psychic?

Nell Rose (author) from England on November 08, 2016:

Thanks again, it sounds fascinating, I will look out for it, nell

Thanks for your opinion Man from Modesto, and thanks for reading.

Man from Modesto from Kiev, Ukraine (formerly Modesto, California) on November 07, 2016:

Also, I highly recommend the book, "Out of the Devil's Cauldron" by John Ramirez, one of the most powerful psychics in New York.

Man from Modesto from Kiev, Ukraine (formerly Modesto, California) on November 07, 2016:

There are many ways to discern information about a person. "The eyes are the window to the soul," scripture tells us. And, I have found this to be true. The Satanists are well aware of this. They often attack soul-to-soul by staring directly into the eyes of their target. Additionally, information, like a spiritual subtext, is carried on the voice. Also, a person's name conveys who they are and their general qualities. For example, many of the false Christian "evangelists", who are in fact servants of the New World Satanic Order.... The first time I ever heard their name, the Holy Spirit stirred inside me and I instantly did not like them. Kenneth Copeland and Binni Hinn are two of these. Further, just as "wisdom softens the face" (meaning the voice of the Holy Spirit), so does the voice of the unholy spirit harden the face and give it sharp edges. For examples, see the face of Kenneth Copeland and of Tim LaHaye, author of the Left Behind books... Which cleverly teach lies about the rapture and other important Christian teachings.

So, a person who examines many aspects of a person is not to be automatically discounted. There is much truth to be discerned in a person's eyes, voice, and even in their name.

Nell Rose (author) from England on October 29, 2016:

Hi Karen, I would suggest taking someone with you, who will stand behind the psychic to see what and how they do the reading of other people. If they think the reader is genuine then you can go and get a reading done. Hope this helps. Nell

Thanks Lisa, I have read for money before, but only around 10 pounds/dollars. And I always say that the Cards are psychic but I am also reading the person as a psychologist too. then the recipient tends to open up about stuff that they didn't want to say, embarrassment, shy etc, but the cards lead them to say it, and it always shows the way, thanks so much for liking it.

Lisa on July 07, 2016:

Thank you, I've been going to see psychics for a very long time and haven't been to one that's been good apart from years ago and she was spot on.. But all the others I believe are just fakes and in it for money and believing they can read from the cards. Wonder what you would say if you did a reading for me. Thank you the information it was interesting reading it.

Sorry not sure I can help Postwoman, I don't live in London, but I am sure you will find some here on the Internet. I am afraid its pretty much pot luck as my mum would say! lol! but the best thing to do is try to look up someone with reviews, people are always truthful, if they feel that the psychic is not too good they will say so, so in the search just put 'best psychics reviews' it should take you to the right ones, okay? thanks, nell

Can u recommend some genuine phsychics that we could book a reading with

Nell Rose (author) from England on September 24, 2014:

lol! thanks Lionrhod, yes it drives me nuts too, I often watch the ones on tv, then after a while I think, hang on a minute, surely that so called psychic has said the same thing to so many people on their shows, I noticed one tv psychic who kept on saying week after week about a box full of buttons! lol! how many grannies have a box full of buttons? arghhh!

Lionrhod from Orlando, FL on September 23, 2014:

No worries Nell. I'm completely with you on exposing fraudulent psychics. I work so hard at being ethical that it drives me buggy when psychics are fakes. And especially if they try to victimize their clients. ACK! It gives every one of us a bad name.

Nell Rose (author) from England on September 23, 2014:

Thanks for your comment Lionrhod, sorry I should have been more specific, I only meant listen to the reader for a few seconds to get the idea whether that person is genuine or not, not to actually listen in to the whole conversation. I am sure you are a genuine good spiritual counselor, but there are many who are frauds, sorry for the misunderstanding, nell

Lionrhod from Orlando, FL on September 20, 2014:

Hi Nell, While you have a lot of good information in this hub, you also give some advice which I would highly disagree with. The suggestion to stand within earshot of the psychic, for example. I would be fidgeting too, and might quite possibly get up and ask the person to move a bit away. Not because I'm worried about being "outed" (I've been reading for over 30 years and I know I'm good at it.) but because the reading is private and confidential. Quite often I'm discussing situations which are sensitive and none of anyone else's business. If the client wants to bring a friend along, that's fine, but for bystanders to be within Also, I do make frequent eye contact with and or look at my clients. It's about 1) creating rapport and 2) making certain they are understanding my advice. As a spiritual counselor, I'm not interested in proving myself. I AM interested in being sure that I'm phrasing my advice in a manner that is useful to them.

Nell Rose (author) from England on August 22, 2014:

Hiya Deborah, I have done loads in my town, mainly pubs or private parties, never online apart from my other hub where I do the readings, thanks

Deborah Sexton on August 22, 2014:

So you're a reader Nell? That's great. Do you read from your house for locals only? Or online too?

Nell Rose (author) from England on August 17, 2014:

Thanks Deborah, that sounds like me, I do the Tarot by word of mouth and luckily they come back, that's great to know, and thanks for reading, nell

Deborah Sexton on August 16, 2014:

Great hub, and good points.

The psychic I go to doesn't look at me, only at the cards, she's been around for many years in the same house. She doesn't advertise, as her clients were built by word of mouth, to me these are all signs that she is real.

Oh, and she doesn't say that I have a curse on me, that she will remove for $50.00 either.

Nell Rose (author) from England on August 05, 2014:

Hiya Jo, lol! that's so true! have a wonderful time meeting your sister, let me know how you get on?

Joanna Chandler from On Planet Earth on August 05, 2014:

LOL Nell its possible you do but you cannot enter that realm to see your great aunt Elsie ha ha ha. Yep sometimes you're like what crap are these people talking you in yourself must know if they are accurate. Certain things they tell you , you'll be like how did they know that. I am GREAT I AM AWESOME!!! by God's help my dear and hope you are to. I am excited going to meet my sister i haven't met in about 14 years today.

Nell Rose (author) from England on August 05, 2014:

lol! hiya Jo, how you doing? yep those frauds drive me nuts! I have seen a few and believe me I don't have a great aunt Elsie! lol!

Joanna Chandler from On Planet Earth on August 05, 2014:

LMBO Nell you nuts ha ha ha but i agree with you these people also work with psychology for instance. Lets say someone call a psychic on the radio and says my husband is treating me badly. The psychic will reply well i can see some negative energy in your marriage and i am seeing him around a brown skin woman a lot. Heck yeah if your marriage isn't going good it means there is negative energy and most likely the husband is seeing another woman. Isn't that sooo OBVIOUS! Then you will believe her but she is actually playing on your Psyche.

So there are gifts and callings without repentance the bible says so but is what you use it to do i believe there are those who genuinely knows certain things. Just as the witch of Endor who King Saul went to, to raise up Samuel from the dead in the bible. Did she contacted Sanuel indeed she did.

However there are those who are not genuine and looking for money and will try to tie your head up like in my earlier example.

LOL @ they'll try to contact great aunt Elsie who lived years ago. ha ha ha so true .

Hi Shelly, don't worry, I would imagine that your dream was just symbolic, it seems that you are scared of breaking up with your fiance' and the ultimate break up would be death. Its also that your brain, which has a higher side to it is telling you not to do anything that will put you in danger. Whether this is a symbolic dream, your mind telling you to be careful, or even if it really was a precognition of future events, each happening is warning you not to do it. So, you have been given something special, you are being told to act calmly and never do anything that will endanger you or your family or fiancé, i think that's amazing, you know now not to go madly driving after him, so therefore you are safe, please don't worry, the Universe was giving you a nudge and saying, hey keep your head calm, we don't want no accidents now do we? lol! take care, and as I said, don't worry!

Shelly on July 13, 2014:

I wanted to go to one because I had a dream about myself dying. I was going after my fiancé because we had a fight and he didn't want to see me. He drove off so I went after him and got into a car accident. It seemed so real and I have never seen anything like this. Do you suggest I go get my palm read? I'm so afraid I don't know what to do.

Nina on July 02, 2014:

Hi Nell,

I went to see a physic last week, at first she charged me 40$, then she told me she needed to see me in a week, and that I had to bring her 1500$, immediately I knew something was off, so I told her I'll call you back to reschedule an appointment, and I never did.

Nell Rose (author) from England on June 19, 2014:

Hi Jean, that's right, I tell it like it is too, even if they keep saying no that's not right, they always come back and tell me that yes it was exactly what happened to them, I get the feeling when someone is not genuine, I remember the time at the psychic fair when one woman was being yelled at because she blatantly obviously made the whole thing up as she went! should get the money after, not before! lol! thanks so much for reading, nell

Jean Bakula from New Jersey on June 19, 2014:

Hi Nell,

I was just reading and fixing up some old hubs, and this was listed after one of mine. I find that when I get really lost in a reading, I barely look at the person, so they don't really get a chance to talk or respond point by point. So it's always rewarding when they seem so surprised the reading is on target. I had a lot of reservations about doing online readings, but got over it. I find that because after I throw the cards I keep the reading sitting around for a bit before I have time to email the person my findings, and it gives me more time to think about it. People have responded that they are shocked you can get so much out of a Tarot reading! My astrology chart readings are also very psychology based, and I think people expect them to be "sexed up" more in our times, and I can't bring myself to do that. Not when Astrology covers all the other areas of your lives. So I've been saying "no" to people who seem to want a horoscope for the wrong reasons. It feels right.

thank you

Nell Rose (author) from England on March 17, 2013:

Thanks Laurie, yes the future is not set in stone, its our actions that change it, thanks again, nell

Rayne123 on March 16, 2013:

Once again great hub.

Everything you say makes so much sense. As I stated in your previous hub, I could feel the reader (the one my friend goes to) was very uncomfortable with me around.

You are so right when you say the future is not for sure. It is not written in stone and can be changed. I have to say for years I had these continuing dreams. However The "Holy Spirit" changed them and they mean different now.

It may not make sense to others, however it now makes sense to me.

God makes us put something down to pick up something better, therefore my future/dreams changed.

thank you again

Hi cascoly, I remember reading about Randi years ago, and from what I can remember he did seem like a genuine guy who really wanted to know the truth about it, about his actual religious beliefs I really can't remember, thanks for your thoughts, nell

Nell Rose (author) from England on September 21, 2012:

Hi gail, thanks for coming back, I think the best psychics are the cheaper ones, purely because if they are genuine then they do it for next to nothing, the really expensive ones to me are just out for the money, Sam Millar sounds like a good one, I will look him up on google, unless of course as you said he is now deceased, thanks!

Gail Louise Stevenson from Mason City on September 20, 2012:

Your welcome. I once contacted Cosmic Awareness many years ago, for a past life reading, and they charge back then around 500 dollars. At first it was a lesser amount, than they raised it to over 500 dollars. That was way too much money. A man from Cosmic Awareness charged 25.00 for tarot reading--his name was Sam Millar. I think he's deceased now. He was from Olympia, Washington.

cascoly from seattle on September 20, 2012:

bethperry said:About the James Randi million dollar offer thing, though: personally I think the chances that his "tests" are UNrigged are about the same as getting milk out of a stud bull. The man started out as a fraud himself and he's made his living (and a mesmerized following) by spewing hatred for religion and anything paranormal since.

this is slander -- Randi was NEVER a fraud like most psychics since he never claimed supernatural powers - he's a MAGICIAN - his test was very simple - yet no one was ever able to actually demonstrate paranormal powers - much like Uri Geller failing to bend a spoon when Johnny Carson [himself a magician] was watching. psychics always have some excuse but the plain fact is they just cant perform when someone's paying attention to their trickery.

I defy you to find anything Randi has said that demonstrates hatred of religion or the paranormal -- disbelief, of course, but that's just the normal reaction of any rational person

Nell Rose (author) from England on September 19, 2012:

Hi gail, thanks so much, yes I have been to a few frauds in my time, its so disappointing because of the money spent, its so expensive!

Gail Louise Stevenson from Mason City on September 18, 2012:

Great information about fortune tellers. There must be a lot of fake ones out there that are after money--their the ones to stay away from. The ones that are real are ok. I think that a person has to be careful in finding one that is true. Nice hub and very informative.

Hi Urban, that's sounds like a great idea! I may just try to paint my own, I do think its good because we can put our own feelings into them and totally understand what they mean when we use them, thanks again, and for the great idea!

Claudia Dias from London on June 09, 2012:

Hi Nell, another great hub! I really liked your suggestion of Halloween tarot reading: some might even discover that they have a real psychic ability for reading the Tarot by doing it just for a bit of fun.

I use the Tarot for esoteric knowledge and research into my personal biography rather than for divination. I work mostly with the B.O.T.A Tarot which encourages to paint it yourself as a means to access its deeper alchemic/esoteric meaning, I'm painting my second set at the moment as well as trying to to research the connection of every card with specific healing properties such as plants, minerals and so on.

Nell Rose (author) from England on May 15, 2012:

Hi cascoly, sorry no, what I mean is that if for some reason the psychic gets it completely wrong, they should be made to hold their hands up and say sorry. There is a difference between a 'real' psychic and a charlatan. The real one will try their best, but sometimes things can't be seen, on the other hand a charlatan will deliberatly con, okay? thanks for reading, cheers nell
