Are Pisces Dreamers?
I decided to do a series about each sign of the zodiac to go along with my other astrology articles, and of course, I am starting with my sign—Pisces the Dreamer. There is certainly no shortage of books or websites devoted to descriptions of the astrological signs and their characteristics.
While I will incorporate some traditional descriptions of each sign, my articles will be more personal—based on years of experience studying people and their signs. Of course, it is hard to be completely objective about your own personality, so lucky for me, one of my best friends is also a Pisces, not to mention an ex-boyfriend and numerous business colleagues and acquaintances.
So what is life like in the watery world of Pisces the Dreamer?
Core Personality Traits
Pisces is the last of the water signs and, in fact, is the last sign of the entire zodiac. For some astrologers, that makes us the wise old souls of the zodiac. Pisces are the dreamers and artists of the zodiac. Known for their sensitive, intuitive, and emotional natures, Pisces are often empathic or even psychic. Giving and selfless to a fault, Pisces often become martyrs without even realizing it.
As a creature of the watery depths, a Pisces can slip in and out of a wide variety of personas. If you know a Pisces but feel as though you can't ever really put your finger on who she is, that's because she is the chameleon of the zodiac. Unlike some other signs, Pisces does not transform her personality consciously—much less with any malicious intent. It's just who we are. I am as comfortable walking the street with a homeless person as I am in the boardroom of a Fortune 500 company. Most people who have known me professionally (as a lawyer) are surprised to see my maternal and nurturing nature around my children. They are equally shocked when they learn of my lifelong interest and belief in astrology.
On the negative side, Pisces can be too much of an idealist and may tend to see life through rose-colored glasses. Pisces can often suffer from addiction problems as they tend to have escapist tendencies. Life can sometimes just be too much for Pisces's sensitive nature. We Pisces may also appear secretive or distant at times. Sometimes we may actually be hiding something, although if we are, it is likely because we are trying not to hurt someone! Pisces can also be indecisive and easily led or manipulated.
If you are the parent of a Pisces child, you may want to get two very important things straight from birth. First, your Pisces child lives in a world governed by emotional responses. Second, nothing and nobody will ever change that. If your chart makes understanding emotional responses difficult for you, then you have some tough years ahead of you. Not only is trying to stifle that aspect of your Pisces child the worst thing you can do, but it is also futile.
Although many describe Pisces as weak, in reality, they are extremely strong and true to themselves. They may appear weak simply because they don't like confrontation and will always try to see both sides of any issue. A Pisces child needs an outlet for his emotional and creative nature. A Pisces child loves the world of imagination and make-believe. His feelings are easily hurt, and although he will not yell, scream, or appear upset, he will never forget when he has been hurt. From an early age, work with your Pisces child to help her understand how to help others without becoming a martyr.
A Pisces child will ALWAYS want to help and protect others—the more vulnerable they are, the more she will want to help. Let your Pisces child explore this part of his personality under your guidance, so he is not taken advantage of and learns to balance that aspect of his personality.
Is there someone you always know you can call when everything falls apart—even if it's your fault? Someone that never judges you and always seems to have time to listen to your problems? Chances are she's a Pisces. Pisces have a very hard time saying no to anyone in need. A Pisces friend genuinely wants to help you if you are in need—he literally feels your pain. Since Pisces is almost incapable of passing judgment on anyone, she will not blame you (even secretly) if you caused your own problems.
On the other hand, you may be friends with her for a lifetime and never really understand her. My oldest friend, who has known me for over 30 years, would tell you she still can't really explain me to someone. In reality, we may not truly want you to know us. A Pisces can retreat to her secret room when she needs to without warning or explanation—even to her friends. Pisces' emotions can be hard to follow—much less predict, which can also take its toll on a friendship.
Pisces Employee or Boss
Hopefully, your Pisces employee is doing some type of creative or humanitarian work. A Pisces will flourish when doing any type of work that requires creativity and/or that allows him to help people, animals, or the world as a whole. A Pisces employee needs to feel as though what she is doing makes a difference. Typical 9 to 5 jobs don't usually suit a Pisces. A Pisces needs freedom and variety to keep him happy at work. Conversely, your Pisces employee also needs direction and boundaries so his creativity doesn't turn into chaos.
Your Pisces boss will be easy-going as long as you keep her going! Pisces are not known for their organizational abilities and can always benefit from employees that are very detail-oriented. When I was practicing law, my assistant was a Libra. I rarely had any idea what my court schedule was for the next day unless I asked her. I counted on her to keep the practical aspects of my office running smoothly so I could do my job well. While Pisces will flourish in self-employment or an entrepreneurial job, someone else should handle the finances. Pisces is probably the least materialistic of all the signs—which can be a negative, not a positive, when running his own business.
Your Pisces lover can take you to a land of fantasy and mystery. Pisces is the most feminine sign of the zodiac, and Pisces women certainly live up to that description. They are femininity personified. This is not to say that a Pisces male is anything less than masculine. I dated one, and he was certainly not feminine in any way. I will say, however, that he understood women and embraced the sensitive and emotional sides of the female personality more than any other man I have ever known.

Pisces are frequently hard to resist—at least on your first encounter. They generally have dreamy eyes that draw you in. As a lover, you will find Pisces to be romantic and giving. Male or female, your Pisces lover will remember even the smallest detail that pleases you in the bedroom. Fantasy will play a big part in your sex life as well. For a Pisces, however, sex and emotions are intertwined. If your Pisces lover is not emotionally happy and stable, then your sex life will suffer. Trust will play an important part in sex with a Pisces. Don't try to introduce anything on the wilder side of the sexual spectrum to your Pisces lover until you have completely gained his/her trust.
A Pisces partner can be giving, compassionate, and committed. On the other hand, Pisces has a tendency to idealize his partner and may not view the relationship with open eyes. Pisces are generally faithful—they can't bear the thought of hurting someone they care about. Having said that, they can also be naïve. For this reason, a Pisces may find herself straying without ever consciously making the decision to do so—especially if there is emotional turmoil at home. Pisces often stay in relationships long after they should have called it quits and may turn to someone outside the relationship for comfort as a result.
If a Pisces does stray—male or female—it is likely because he is looking for an emotional connection, not a physical one. Your Pisces partner will never forget your birthday, anniversary, or even the date you first met, made love, or got engaged. Your home will be full of love, although not always well organized or spotlessly clean. If you have children with your Pisces, you will probably have to be the bad guy most of the time. A Pisces parent is nurturing and kind but not the best disciplinarian. If you can overlook your Pisces partner's sensitive and sometimes distant nature and learn to appreciate her mystery and depth, you will have many happy years together.

I am a Pisces and am always asking myself why am I doing this, acting like this or feeling this way....why I am I so weird and different (which I'm perfectly comfortable with by the way in a strange confident way) than everyone else? I seem to attract more people than I would like and its bizzare because I am so private. I over analyze way more than most, fixate really, and often times what I think up actually
happens. I'm definitely a day dreamer
thinking up all kinds of things & ideas. I
work a 9-5 AND and own & operate my own business because of my creativity.
This post makes me warm and fuzzy knowing there are more than just one of
me! Thank you!!!
