The Bull (Taurus) and the Crab (Cancer)

These two signs are somewhat alike in tone and outlook. Taurus is Earth and Fixed. Cancer is Water and Cardinal—but they are much alike. Their shared traits make them able to harmonize quite easily, right away. Serious and cautious and taking a liking to the material, especially the material they can keep close by, Taureans and Cancers diverge in the love of home.

Cancers love the home and want to improve their domestic lives. Taureans love to build and accumulate for the sake of the business—the home would automatically reflect that success. Taurus can be prone to pouting; Cancer mourns in its moodiness.

Determining who will do the encouraging is the challenge. Both of these signs want peace and comfort, so each will be coaxed out of worrisome states and emotional darkness because, in the end, there is so much work to do and so many goals to meet.

If you ponder these two somewhat sturdy, single-minded types, you might ask yourself a few key questions: Who will give in? Who will adapt? Who will move off their hard-won position to move toward a unified, team position? These are quite logical questions when everything else seems to be so harmonious.

Barring some stubbornness and wound licking, probably watery Cancer will adapt to the earthen fixity of Taurus. Since they are probably on the same page anyway, Cancer’s well-thought-out self-adjustments would move them toward an even better competitive team position.

Positive Postulate

A “positive postulate” here is natural. They are both tender in love and want to be treated with sensitivity. The fact that sometimes the Taurus is not that outwardly sensitive does not mean that the Taurus won’t see the need for it. Business, with a small “b” or a capital “B,” is how these two would approach what they do. Valuing the same things, coming very close in terms of style, and wanting assets to be preserved, they could make a very positive combination.

Romance Recommendation

Taurus is slow to do most things and is especially not frivolous in romance. However, they have a furnace that can burn hot after a slow start. The crab also does not make romantic moves without the import of all of romance’s meaning, floating like an airborne umbrella overhead.

Surely there are feelings involved, and for the Cancer especially, feelings can be hurt, and probably Taurus would do the hurting, largely through inadvertence. Both should attend to one another. In other words, really caring will go a long way for both. For different reasons, from different places, they can both make this partnership, or union, work.

Conflict Quotient

In a fight, Cancer is usually coming from deep inside—inner fears, complexes, things that have plagued them quietly for years. This makes them serious and formidable. A conflict is not just a joust for a Cancer. The stakes, even if they are not apparent, can be larger when one fights with a Cancer.

A Crab will sidestep, and therefore, what the fight is about may not always be clear. A Taurus is effective at the battle, but they do not relish it. See the bull moving and lunging—it is done with grace and power, but it also takes much energy. These two parties can battle, but both should bring out their inner conflicts and resolve them. The danger is that unattended grief or heartache might grow.

Peace Parlay

Life, in the end, is repetitive and mundane, and so is romance itself. This factor asks the question: "Can we be bored together over the long term?" Taurus and Cancer both value the accumulated benefits of life. Enjoying them would not be considered boring. And taking a rest after a life of work would be done happily. If boredom were an actual complaint, it might stem from true unhappiness. If this partnership or coupling is basically happy, boredom would not be its undoing.

Keep Up the Interest Graph

Depending on the individual charts and perhaps the Moon signs of each partner, “keeping up the interest” would probably be a specific complaint or issue. In terms of picking up unstated complaints, Taurus would be the least inclined to be “sensitive.” Taurus should therefore become conscious of what might not be on the surface. Cancer should be sure not to drift into depression or prolonged sadness and become unappealing because of being “high maintenance.”

Seven Year Itchiness

There are some signs that, by their nature, are more stable in their love interests and family concerns as time goes on. Others are not. The seven-year itch, Taurus, and Cancer are not to be mentioned in the same sentence. Both signs have a natural conservatism; they are not watching the calendar to look for infidelity. That being said, Taurus, if unloved, and Cancer, if sorrowfully unfulfilled, could see infidelity as the answer to their inner problems. That would be a sad thing.

Astrocompatibility Possibility Rating:

  • 80% Positive Long Term
  • 70% Short Term

A short-term relationship could be very attractive to both. The union of purpose, if it were covered in the very beginning, could ensure a lasting partnership. Deep inner unresolved hurts are the largest warning sign.

Well it sounds marvelous how similarly inclined persons find each other. At first, perhaps, depending upon your astro sophistication, you stumble upon each other happily, then you find out why. Glad to hear of your felicity.

Jean Bakula from New Jersey on July 06, 2013:

I'm a Cancer who has been married to a Taurus man for what will be 34 years in September, and we knew each other for 5 yrs. before that. We don't like to jump into things, and I was seeing someone else who I loved when I met him, but knew it would not last, so I had to wrap that up. We both have Scorpio Ascendants though, so have warped senses of humor. He shares my interest in metaphysical topics. We often change friends and interests, as you know Scorpios can walk away from things or people who we no longer see a need to hold onto. We have one adult son, a Scorpio Sun and Moon, but thankfully he has a stellium in Sag and a Virgo Ascendant, so is downright sunny for a double Scorp! Best Wishes.
