Headstrong and Competitive
Aries is the first Sun sign of the zodiac, as well as the first Fire sign. It is symbolized by the ram and ruled by the planet of Mars. Birthdays for Aries Sun sign people begin on or around March 21st and run until about April 21st, but you must verify this in a book or a site called an Ephemeris to be sure—the days vary slightly from year to year. Your Sun sign is always in one sign, never “on a cusp," although you will often hear this false information. Cusps do exist in astrology, but they are a system of dividing the twelve houses of the zodiac, and have nothing to do with either Sun signs or birthdays.
If you have ever seen two rams butting heads, you will begin to see how headstrong a fiery Aries Sun sign person can be until they get their way. Aries is also the first cardinal sign, which is a sign of leadership. Aries Sun sign people are naturals in leadership roles, and make no secret about their competitive natures. They have quick, inquisitive minds, and are likely to be pioneers in any field that really grabs their interest, such as science, mechanics, or engineering.
They are well known for beginning projects and then losing interest in them, leaving the boring details to others who will have to complete the work. But they have the best, original ideas of anyone. Get a room filled with people, tell them the problem, and the person with the most unique, but workable solution, will be an Aries. Their minds don't work the same way other people's minds work, so the solution is always surprising, and may not be the way another person would approach the situation!
Impulsive, Friendly, and Enthusiastic
An Aries Sun sign person is impulsive, friendly, and enthusiastic much of the time. Outgoing and sociable, they are quick to strike up a conversation before the other person does. Those ruled by Mars speak frankly, and sometimes blurt out words without thinking about it, though they never set out to hurt anyone’s feelings. Aries people are temperamental, but do not hold grudges. An Aries Sun sign person can begin an argument with you, and a half hour later cannot understand what your problem is and why you are annoyed with them.
Their love of competition leads to an enjoyment of sports of all types, and they even like to compete against their own personal best in sports like running, biking, or climbing. They like to live a fast-paced life, and can tend to be hasty. Aries Sun sign people need to have a lot of freedom, and have a strong sense of free will. They do not like to take direction from others. Even if they do not begin a job or project as the leader, eventually that is the position where you will find them. They have exciting, original ideas that often give others pause, trying to decide if it can work. It will. Even those who have little formal education outshine those that do.
Aries Sun sign people are shameless flirts, and are demonstrative and jealous in their love natures. They are not, however, hasty in making romantic commitments. Once they do commit to a monogamous relationship though, they normally adore their mate, and put them on a pedestal, proud to “show them off.” If you paint a picture or bake a cake, they will actually present it to others and act like you did something really amazing! They are very lovable and will show it to you in every way possible. Of course, they expect their fair share of compliments and gifts too. But they make romance fun and are never a dull date. This is a life of the party person, so be sure you can keep up.
Aries rules the head, so they may be prone to getting headaches or migraines, and the men sometimes begin to get receding hairlines at an early age. Since Aries is the first zodiac sign, they are the “babies” and can behave immaturely at times. But you will find it easy to forgive them, as they can quickly charm you again!
Great Leaders and Motivational Speakers
The key phrase for Aries is “I am.” The first sign of the zodiac coincides with the first day of Spring, a sign of new beginnings. Aries Sun sign people are aggressive and very blunt about expressing themselves, sometimes to the point of arrogance. They always feel like they have something to prove to others through their actions, and have a slight inferiority complex, which they keep hidden. They are very energetic and you better exercise and take your vitamins if you intend to keep up their active pace. It would be helpful if they would slow down a bit and listen to advice from others before they act, but that could be asking too much of the impulsive Arian.
Aries Sun sign people are usually very good at whatever they choose to do, as competitive people tend to be. They also love team sports and excel at them, normally becoming the team captain or leader, also its biggest cheerleader. Aries Sun sign people can come on strong and too forceful at times, and must learn to be more diplomatic. But nobody is perfect. They are charming and fun to have around. Aries people are great at motivating others to get things done, and normally are full of great and innovative ideas. Once they get older they exhibit greater self confidence. They have a unique way of looking at things, which besides being interesting, is helpful for problem solving and troubleshooting in a work situation.
Aries Sun sign people make great parents, as they are enthusiastic and fun loving people. These are parents that will bring their kids anywhere they go, and enjoy playing with them and finding interesting activities. They are naturals at living life spontaneously, an attribute many other signs do not share. Your Aries Sun sign friends are always the first ones willing to try something new. In fact, they would be bored to death if they were not always finding new projects, interests, or learning new skills.
They are usually the ones in your crowd who have the most ideas of things to do on the weekends, although someone else better make the reservations and tend to the details to arrange whatever the plan entails. Say what you want to say while you have their attention, because you will not have it for long, they will soon be distracted by something else. An Aries Sun sign person’s feelings can get hurt more than you think possible, although they lack tact themselves.
So try to tread carefully with them. Aries Sun sign people add a positive attitude and fun loving nature to any group, and are usually missed if you forget to invite them to the party! In fact, if you need an idea about how to throw a party, Aries is the kind of person to be an event planner. They have plentiful ideas about how to make anything fun and original, and by the time you are ready for the event, you'll find you have made a new friend.

Questions & Answers
Question: Does knowing what zodiac sign a person's sun and moon are in constitute a whole astrology chart?
Answer: No. Please stop emailing me lists of planets in their zodiac signs for interpretation. I have whole articles discussing these questions if you take the time to look for them on Exemplore.com. Letterpile.com and Hubpages.com.
Knowing this is very little of what an interpretation of a person's Natal or Birth Chart is, there are many other factors besides the zodiac signs many of you are emailing me through Hubpages Contact links. Please contact me at jeanbakula.wordpress.com if you want a complete astrology chart for $100.00 and stop contacting me at home with questions through Hubpages. I am a professional who spends 10-12 hours casting and interpreting charts. I also can't provide this service for free, as I also do tarot card readings in between my work with astrology clients in my "spare" time. I am just at Hubpages.com as a freelance writer and I wrote over 100 astrology articles to answer basic and free astrology questions.
I can guess if you may be compatible with someone based on your Sun and Moon signs, but it's very little information for me to go on. Some of you seem to think you are getting a whole free interpretation from the brief answers I can give here based on what info you give me. Some of you keep coming back with different names to get more free interpretations. You aren't fooling me and aren't getting as much as you think you are. There are many more factors in a chart that need to be considered for a true compatibility assessment. If you have to ask if you are compatible with someone, I suspect you are not.
Question: To get my correct Sun sign, what information do I need?
Answer: I need the month, day and year of your birth. The idea that all zodiac signs change on the 21st of the month is a fallacy. Though that's close, some are called "signs of long ascension," and don't change until the 23rd or even the 24th of the month. It's usually July through October or so. Then there are signs of "short ascension", usually around February and March, so some Aquarius and Capricorn people usually have the wrong sign.
Go to something called an Online Ephemeris. It's a table of planetary positions that is put together by year. A site where you may be able to do this is Cafe Astrology. Best Wishes.
Question: How many people have the same Sun, Moon, and Ascendant signs as I do?
Answer: The interpretation asked for here is called the Trinity. There are twelve signs in the zodiac. That means there are twelve possible Sun signs you can have, twelve possible Moon signs you can have, and twelve possible Ascendants you can have. By my calculations, that means approximately one person in 1,728 probably has the same Trinity as you.

Thanks for stopping by, and I'm glad you were reminded to buy that gift. Thanks for the head's up about Amazon. About 6 months ago, they limited us to one Amazon capsule, and I had to change all of my hubs. They do stuff like that often, so be prepared. I'll see if I can fix my Amazon thing. Take care.
Lisa René LeClair from the ATL on March 20, 2014:
My mom's an Aries... You nailed it! And thanks for reminding me that her birthday's coming up! ;-)
BTW, your Amazon link is not working. Error message: Amazon is not providing us a price for this item. Therefore it can not be displayed. That happened to me the other day, had to pick another book.

Aries people like to be blunt, and get to the point. Even if they are mad, they don't stay mad long, and will be the first to say they are sorry. Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn are what we call Cardinal signs of leadership. So the dynamics of these 4 signs are similar in the way they take the lead, and just seem to be naturals at it. They are all "idea" people, but also ready to put those ideas into action very fast. Capricorn may need more time to check out the statistics and such. If you like Astrology, I have more Sunsign Stuff and a Venus series on my blog, http://www.Spiritualitypathways.com.

I think so...but so often you read about an Aries and we come off in the worst way as ...shall I say...the B word...
This one didn't feel like that at all.
Thanks so much for insight that wasn't an attack
Jean Bakula (author) from New Jersey on February 12, 2013:
Thank you for sharing that. I write these in what I hope is taken as a spirit of fun, and an Aries should be proud, you have many good qualities.
